- Tony Foster let's us in on another part of his extensive, fabulous, Case collection. And also gives us a little history, with demonstrations, on Case switchblades - automatic pocket knives. At the Gator Knife Show 2022.
I used to wonder why do the old guys have the coolest stuff. Now that I'm old I think it's cool to have all this stuff.
Yeah. That statement is perhaps unnoticeibly profound. When you are young you want everything but get very little for many reasons especially money. When you get old you need little but what the hell you might as well get some of what you wanted but couldn't have when you were younger. So why be a collector when you get older? Because there is no good reason why you shouldn't at least to some degree.
Awesome collection. Best I ever saw😉
Case needs to make a spring loaded Coke bottle handled knife.
I like the ones with the shifting square button. It’s always fun looking at these old antique knives.
There is a bill in the Pennsylvania legislature to repeal the ban on automatic knives. Case has expressed interest in making automatics again should the law pass.
There are a few aftermarket automatic conversions of the modern Copperlocks where the Case shield on the handle is utilized as the button.
Yeah neat, but now I am terribly plagued as to learn the mechanism! These are so rare it will likely be a challenge to find one. Next chance I get to hold one I'll peruse it for sure. Perhaps I might find the time to do a patent search. I'll let you guys know if I discover it.
I want one of the double bladeautos that looklike the one in yoyr video even if its a clone i dont care i want one
These knives are awesome part American history.
"Only about 5,000 dollars." 😆
Great video.
Man I love those knfes wonder how well they are made if they would hold up well if used for diffrent things
Yeah that is a good question. It is assumed by many, as me also, that switchblades are delicate. Well, flimsy. We have all seen many a busted up auto. And some, mainly Chinese, are flimsy. Made of plastic sometimes or cast parts. But I have seen some autos take some great deal of abuse and still work. I have concluded that it just depends on the knife.
Never seen the coke bottle one before. Haven't seen the big clasp "zipper" in person, when I first started collecting in '79 A guidebook only had a drawing of one... Tony has three. Great video.
His prices are high.
Not really for good mint examples I've seen them sell for more then he said

The first Scrade was called a PressButton.
Respect the collector but these prices are hilarious. The market doesn't not reflect "book pricing" at all
Why are the prices hilarious? These knives are in excellent condition, essentially brand new and have historical value that you wouldn't understand. They are rare gems that don't exist anymore. For the times they are complex engineering masterpieces and define an era that changed the knife world. When they're gone they're gone. Nobody is replicating them. To me the historic value alone is worth the money he's asking.
Tony's prices are well known in the knife collecting community as being a bit ridiculous. You can find Case knives for half of what he is asking. I get it, he has quite a bit of inventory but if people would look around they can score some nice pieces.@@PatheticPeasant
