- Ever wondered what it takes to have a lasting career in music? Recently, I traveled to Minnesota and Nashville, collaborating on sample library projects with three extraordinary musicians. Their talent left me in awe, but what truly struck me was something deeper-a key ingredient to their enduring success in the music business.

Oh, sweet Gabe Scott!!! I can’t think about Mary and Joseph on their way to Bethlehem without thinking about him, too.
Great video as always. I'm encouraged!
So true. I've had to work on my parts of my personality to make myself more likable. Being self aware of how others perceive you is the first step. Not everyone has to work on this but, some people like me do.
You know I've always been a guy that was completely loved or hated but always made people feel some kind of way, rarely are people indifferent to me. Plenty of people do dislike me, generally it's the "preppy" types. Unfortunately the college kids, the people who are making clothing companies, getting their foot in the door at media companies, radio & event companies, they tend to be this type.
I've gotten much more deliberate with how I treat people, I'm always trying to be of service, doing my best to be someone that you would rather know & have around & that has done wonders for me just in life. Driving a car with a nice logo has opened doors for me. I've met some quite successful people who took a liking to me I think because of my sincere or humble ambition, & I continue to get sharper & sharper in creating opportunities. It feels like the last challenge is to finally break down the barrier between myself & those "preppy" kids (really can't think of a better word cause it's not specifically an affluence thing, it's a personality they have) but idk, even if I dress well & pull up in my nice car & try to "act white", on top of all the stuff that normally gets me along with anyone else, it's like they can just smell it on me that I'm not like them.
Eventually I hope to just have a manager or someone that can handle those interactions for me but i think I'll have to figure it out for myself first to get to that point. I'm sincere so it might not be anything wrong about me but it's my responsibility nonetheless.
I don't know if this is similar to your experience but any insight you may have I would be glad to hear. thanks for your comment & if you read this far thankyou for reading lol.
This is all really awesome. You’ll be part of my discussion with Coop one day when I talk about picking a career and how to make the most of what God has given him.
too much fun. GREAT to have you here in Minnesota!
I'm here... don't know how. But thanks. Really needed to hear those last words: "Learn how to be somebody that other people want to spent time with." Big Hug from México.
Welcome from Texas!
greetings from Argentina, nice video!
Bro I saw that car and knew IMMEDIATELY where you were!
I like these slower paced videos, or should I say not overly edited paced videos. :) Subscribed.
Love this, Jon! Excited to see these stories. Your channel is such a breath of fresh air and provides so much genuine inspiration.
Love this.
Always inspired by your videos. Looking forward to hearing what you and the team are cooking up.
Thank you Jon. I needed to hear this. Sometimes, I feel like I'm not that good at building relationships with other musicians but then I get around people that are on the same wavelength and magic happens.
Love the sincerity Jon...Looking forward to see what comes out of Somerville Sounds!
lovely little video. you've really found your place with your visual aesthetic and colors that you use. keep up the great work Jon!
Excited to learn more! I am currently working to become a better musician and even have talked about starting a band with some other musicians, but I have been curious about what goes into it all.
If only there were some new plugin to help with relational skills!
Yes, surround yourself with people that inspire you to be a better person. You are one of them. Thank you Jon.
Police action in a retirement village? 😂 Must be a cat caught in a tree (I hope).

Is that the lift bridge in Canal Park in Duluth, MN? I recorded samples there that I used on my first album. It's a magical place, especially at sunrise! 😊🌅🎶
it is!
@@Elskavon Awesome! There are so many good sounds there! Horns, bells, cars driving over grates, the lake, seagulls. 🙌🤩✨️
