Great Video, so far this is the 1st tutorial on the extreem , all the others are just " Feature's the xtreem has"... Cant wait for more..keep up the great work!!
I'm new to the ATEM Mini Extreme, having just upgraded from the ATEM Mini Pro. I would really appreciate a basic tutorial (if not previously done) on setting up cameras, etc. Always learn from your videos. Hank
Excellent overview John. We've pre-ordered the ISO version, so now waiting with baited breath to fit it into a new 're-built' 8RU mobile switch rack....
Keep these coming! Very familiar with the regular mini pro, but need to be be brought up to speed on the Extreme. Is it possible to have a chroma keyed source show up in one of the DVE squares. I have a speaker that uses a green screen and I want to key their background. But I also want them to show up in the dve on top of the main program while it’s still keyed. Hope that makes sense. So far it seems like you can’t do both at the same time
Another little nice video! Switch one of the side-by-side souces is really a new feature inspiration for YoloBox! How easy it is to add/change the background picture? (I'm glad we have implemented side-by-side and split-view in our last update!) Maybe a comparison video between YoloBox and the Extreme, rather Pro and ISO, hahaha
Hi John. Thanks for the video. I've tried to re-create your example at 2m20. Am I missing something? My select Bus is all White whereas yours is Red in the close-up at 2m58. K1PTN?? Is that something I have to set in the software? You refer to KEY1. Is that DSK Key 1?
Good question. The reason mine was red in that example is because I had the Key1 On air and the red buttons are telling me to be careful about what I am doing. The audience will see these changes live. In your case you were doing it off air and the buttons are white in that case. K1PAT refers to "Upstream Key 1 Pattern". You will find that in the ATEM Software Control in the "Upstream Keyer 1" section on the left side.
How do you do a 3 camera switch insert into 1 window and PowerPoint into another. Both feeds will be coming into the Atem Mini Extreme via HDMI. I would also like to move from a two window config to just full screen switched video and back.
Really well thought out tutorial - thanks! Here's one for you. Can you use the select bus to mix (not cut) a lower third to air supplied by a keynote input on one of the channels, using only the buttons - not the software control? Could be Luma or Chroma.
I'm about to buy the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO, just wondering about one thing: when viewing the presentation and the presenter side-by-side, is it possible to resize their windows? During live production I usually want to have the presentation displayed in a larger window, and the presenter in a smaller (usually square-cropped) window. I also want to have both those windows placed on a custom, event-related background. Until now I had to use an external video processor to achieve that. Is that possible on the ATEM Mini Extreme? Great video by the way, as per usual :)
This is possible with SuperSource. You can do a side-by-side view (sort of like the PiP i showed) but you can move the speaker over, make their presentation big and also crop the speaker too! Then on the background you can add a still or moving source as a bg!
Hey - SuperSource doesn't record as part of the ISO recordings. The only "trick" to make it work is to loop one of the HDMI outputs back into the ATEM and set that output to SuperSource - that way you are able to record the ISO.
Thank you for demoing the select bus and some of the use cases for it! Is the Logo Bus only for graphics or can you map a video source to go to the logo?
I checked this out. There is an option in the ATEM Software Control for transitioning with a graphic. This logo button lets you set that graphic source (which is likely to be one of the Media Players)
There is a problem with Select Bus Buttons of ATEM Mini Extreme ISO. I use ATEM Software Control for setting Palettes like Luma. Chroma, Pattern & DVE and use ATEM Mini Extreme ISO Select Bus to apply these effect during live production. But I face problem when the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO buttons dose not change to Red during ON AIR, If require I will send XML for reference, please advice
@@heretorecord If you find anything out, you might be first. According to the manual "Stinger and Graphic Wipe are special transitions which will be covered in a later section." (p. 153) but there is no later section that makes mention of either. The closest I find is the Graphic Wipe of the higher end Atems (p. 159).
John what up. Unless it’s me, there seems to be a difference in the units released. When I was looking at this video and following along on my extreme iso, I noticed that some of your selection bust buttons actually turn red. All of mine turn white. Is there a setting somewhere that I am not seeing?
It’s a test signal to send to a monitor in a room, or a live stream endpoint. It’s also useful for checking if a monitor looks calibrated based on other sources around you.
Working on a video about this, but the "logo" button is the graphic source for one of the transition options which allows you to add a logo to the transition
Just subscribed! I think you can have a niche audience by doing these short single point videos. They are quickly digestible and informative. Thanks
That's what I was hoping for! Cheers

Glad to hear it, thanks!
Excellent overview John. I'm looking forward to seeing more tutorials delivered on The Extreme in your easy to understand manner.
Glad it was helpful!
I'm only a week into my mini extreme ISO. This was a fantastic tip.
Please do a more detailed Select Bus video! We need you! I'm new to all this and it still kills my brain. You are teaching me a lot. Thank you.
I like to hear that. More coming!
Nice overview of the select bus John. Thank you.
Cheers!
Very good explanation 👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you. Good easy explanation!
Great demo - good duration and focussing on a couple of features. Really want to understand the device more before purchasing.
Happy to hear it - I'm trying to make the videos that I would love to have watched before buying my first ATEM :D
Woooww i love your video i was so green about the select bus but i know seems easy
It is! and it works nicely
This was great! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Thx John
Thank you for sharing, my space has 2000 meters wireless intercom and the introduction of tally, welcome.
great explanation - even I understand it! I assume that there is only DVE 1 & 2 buttons on the select bus because of lack of space?

Bravo and thank you!
Thanks for watching
Pls how can I also view the multiview window through the remote atem?
I can use BUS in macros created with different font sizes. Macros would be linked to Super Source. Thanks
I think the topic of MAKROS is not explored enough and for what we need black or bars button?
How I can play lower third or video clips straight from the select bus?
Hi John. Thanks for the video. I've tried to re-create your example at 2m20. Am I missing something? My select Bus is all White whereas yours is Red in the close-up at 2m58. K1PTN?? Is that something I have to set in the software? You refer to KEY1. Is that DSK Key 1?

Great videos as always. Can you show how to change the supersource layouts live other than the preset?
Working on a video about SuperSource video already - hope it answers your questions!

You can only do it via a cut, unless you do the fading in keynote
@@heretorecord Thanks - as I suspected. Tried the keynote fade in chroma but you see green during it.
That’s true. Fading is very hard with keying. You could do luma instead but it will still just look okay.
Sweet!!!
This is really helpful thanks. How do you bring pre recorded videos into the production?
I would use a HyperDeck or some other playback device to achieve this right now!
it seems that you used greenscreens for the videos at 3:50. How did you do it?
These were pre-recorded videos that I use for all sorts of demo content

Nice & Thanks :)
"Stinger"...? The one feature that occasionaly has me using OBS instead of the Atem Mini Pro? Tell me more, please...!
When I know more I will tell you!

Can the SuperSource be set as a tile in the multiview? And set to preview like one of the regular inputs?
Yes it can!
excellent
Thanks!
Can someone explain why having color bars is important?
It’s a test signal to send to a monitor in a room, or a live stream endpoint. It’s also useful for checking if a monitor looks calibrated based on other sources around you.
Does anyone know what the Logo Button on the Select Bus is used for?
I would like to know too. There is also the STING button
Working on a video about this, but the "logo" button is the graphic source for one of the transition options which allows you to add a logo to the transition
Please makea video on how to use the the upstream and downstream keys
Good idea. Can do!
@@heretorecord thanks
And one question
Did u noticed any frame drops in the recording in atem extreme?
@@heretorecord so instant reply🤯
Not yet, and hopefully not in the future either
@@heretorecord is possible we do not need and make so many macros in the future with this?
Hi John, thanks for these videos. Not really content related but your exposure seems a little off...
I was battling the sun that day, not much I could do but lessons learned along the way! The joys of having a house with massive windows
