Cracked guess. Played the map and its nice how you kinda learn different places that you have never seen. Very cool locations that never show up in normal Maps.
The map description in the beginning actually says "If this map is too easy for you, try [URL]". Maybe you could also try out that map, seems crazy enough.
That island in Thailand I recognised straight away as Bamboo Island as I went there many years ago and thought it was strange there were hardly any palm trees there.
The La Guajira desert is at 12 north, plus or minus half a degree, it not being very large. The Sahara is approx. 15 to 35 degrees north, so clearly different. The Arabian Peninsula does extend almost as far south as 12 degrees, so has some overlap. But note he did say "one of the", not "the only". Still, I think you could pull out e.g. Djibouti as a better counter argument to his statement - that's a better match for latitude, and mostly desert.
@@lukeueda-sarson6732 my petty response aside, are you trying to tell me 12 and 15 are CLEARLY different? Or are you more making the point that the Sahara is On Average further north than La guajira. because I agree, the Sahara stretches much further north. but 12 and 15 degrees are really not so different in the grand scheme of things
@@ground.jordan Well, yes, 12 and 15 are to my mind clearly different, especially if we are talking about a geographic feature that spans a single degree of latitude! The edges of the Hadley cells that so heavily influence desert formation are rather tightly defined. If you look at upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6b/Omega-500-july-era40-1979.png, you can see the area of upward air movement that corresponds to the La Guajira desert is really pretty small!
That sand island was featured on a David Attenborough documentary, its a small island off the coast of samoa which has a crap ton of turtles, and its slowly fading away
It’s crazy how pros have so much knowledge in their brains that I can get many these rounds without overthinking, sometimes I’m glad I haven’t dedicated my time to this game lol
one thing i am doing that i feel is improving my skill at reading the compass is to try draw how I predict the road angle, river, mountains etc… one extra tip is even try drawing nearby roads that you see in the distance…i do it around 5 times a day sometimes way more when i see interesting locations
I'm curious what sort of monitor set up you have? Do you have something special to see more in depth? It seems like you are often pointing out things I can't even see on my screen. Would love to know if you just have better eye sight then most or something we can do or buy for a little advantage. Keep up the good work, I love your videos.
I yelled Nepal on the Nepal round. (Im Norwegian, who’s been there 2 times - hope they add it soon.) play NEPAL - FULL COUNTRY COVERAGE to learn the country, its a map i’ve spent a long time on
The Aso Kogen area of Japan is very unique and does not feel Japanese. When I play the Japan Map, I always know that place. Also there was tons of Chinese Silver grass, which we often call Kyushu flowers, as even though they are all over Japan, they are very common in Kyushu
I usually get Japan right instantly just from those lovely hills and if not that the roof shape, but recently I mistook someplace in the northern Philippines for Japan.
great video but the many random islands fuck it up a but imo bc it's just a matter of memorizing every location or randomly guessing and easily being punished a lot
Hi oscar, you talked about youtube and your job in last video and I was curious, what is your job? Also, did you do any studies before this? Love the vids and greetings from Belgium!
Would've gotten 5k on the Costa Rica round cause I was just there on that exact road a little while back. But a combined 0 points on all the other rounds. lol
LOL I'm giving up on the NMPZ but am doing ok on just NM. I would have done well on the leaderboard were it not for one of them being completely bait, a mountainous very Bhutanese place with a car with white lettering on a red numberplate that turned out to be a taxi from Ecuador! Grrrr!!
Lol my first attempt at NMPZ on this map: 0 points. That must be a challenge in itself. I'm not that bad, normally. This map is going to be a huge challenge for me, I think! I'm not a non-moving player at the best of times....
Are we all just ignoring that this man said "Looks like Midway Atoll birds"? I know Midway is a known GeoGuessr island, but the bloody birds? Ornithologist to replace the botanist when?
I played this a few months ago and could only manage around 8,000 in NMPZ and frankly that was a lot of luck. I think the video was recorded a while ago already as my score isn't shown yet.
@@zi8gzagactually, I just noticed that I'm on the highscore list in the video, but hard to see as you scroll past me fast (and I'm on my phone currently). Yay, I'm on RUclips. :P
Nice video, some great guesses. Very much the extremes of either 0 points or 4500+.
Cracked guess. Played the map and its nice how you kinda learn different places that you have never seen. Very cool locations that never show up in normal Maps.
Would love to see another one of these. That Australia guess was bananas. Some incredible stuff here.
Great video as always, you had some crazy guesses! :D
The map description in the beginning actually says "If this map is too easy for you, try [URL]". Maybe you could also try out that map, seems crazy enough.
Great video. I love exploring the countries you never see in usual Geoguessr content. Hope it wasn't too much suffering for you!
That island in Thailand I recognised straight away as Bamboo Island as I went there many years ago and thought it was strange there were hardly any palm trees there.
18:31 that looks so magical
5:24 "the angle is right"
well you mean 90° off
I just learned about lining up the road a few days ago. I thought i had severely misunderstood something when he said that haha
“One of the only deserts that happens at that latitude” zooms out to reveal the ENTIRE Sahara and Arabian Peninsula 💀💀

This map might be just a training to be a botanist. Absolutely great guesses tho and a great video as well❤
omg oscar those were some of the most INSANE guesses you've ever had! great video zi8g 👏🐐
7:20 I can't believe I actually got it right, right island and everything! I actually was there last winter and I thought the place looked familiar!
Your hard work and research is shining through your gameplay
10:58 bro looked at some trees and was able to guess the exact road 💀 that is impressive as hell
he's from Australia tbf
that 11:25 guess is legit top 15 most insane guesses ive seen maybe
That sand island was featured on a David Attenborough documentary, its a small island off the coast of samoa which has a crap ton of turtles, and its slowly fading away
This map is great fun! I want another episode on it
Hey thanks for checking out my map and spreading word of it! If you have the time to, be sure to check out some of my other maps as well. =)
amazing video as always!! :D
Hi Zigzag, happy new year from Switzerland! Loved the video!
I'd love to see another one of these, they're so entertaining! And that Australia guess was wild, it left me speechless

Some insane guesses on this one, 🔥 vid as always

i have a normal 1080p monitor that’s not special in any way. i think it’s more a case of knowing what to look for sometimes
16:20 this exact location was on your challenge to GeoPeter, crazy i just watched that lmao (12:30 ish on geopeter vid if u wanna watch it)
i thought of that hahhaha
You have to love every single pacific island being colonized by the US during WWII just carrying the country streaks
2 points on the leaderboards is diabolical😭
After some time it is no longer Geoguessr but Georemembrr.
It always surprises me when zigzag can't read the compass although he's such a good player @4:45
lol, came here to say something about this round, would've been right if the round wasn't skewed
That was straight up hilarious

I mean it’s called Pain And Suffering lol
Haha I thought to myself vanuatu as well on the 18:00 round, glad to see that wasn't completely stupid
How did you already watch that when video came out like 15 mins ago
he’s very smart, that’s how ok
@@GoogleMapsGoat bad habit of randomly skipping portions of the video lol

i work for the welfare department of the government
@@zi8gzagmy first thought is you work for the CIA or something like that based on your comment 😂
I absolutely suck at geoguesser but I love watching you play it maybe I’ll get good one day 😂
Cool map, would like another video of this
wow this video shows a big jump in your indian skill and as an indian i have always wanted to see more india gameplay on your channel
The Australia guess was bonkers!
Probably the best one on that map :D
Yooooo insane guesses bro
Wow these islands are crazy but you had some amazing plonks,
The obscure brasil one at 14:20 got some weird coverage around like one literaly hanging up some tree with the rope and camera just ne of lagoa meru

Oh I was excited because I saw the Ipiranga museum/São Paulo in the thumbnail, but it wasn't in the video 😢
nice 5k still
Blind eyes guessing is better than normal guessing in this map
Just played this for a while before watching this and got 25th place on nmpz leaderboard haha
I think its immediately been beaten lol nvm
still love the vids zig been here since 1k :)
thanks my friend :)

Hey Oscar, how can you know the exact year when the coverage was published? And is it very useful or not?
new year = more and better videos
Are we all just ignoring that this man said "Looks like Midway Atoll birds"? I know Midway is a known GeoGuessr island, but the bloody birds?
Ornithologist to replace the botanist when?
That Gujarat, India guess was insane
Mmmm pain and suffering :)
💀
aussie fashion sense lmao
still could have been an aussie ig
How can it be the hardest map if it references a harder one in the description?
did not see that lmao
Don’t worry about it lol. Love your videos btw

Alright, too talented. I'm forced to subscribe now.
amazing vid :D can you please post the link for this map i wanna try it lol
Me yelling the 7th round is Uganda and then posting before I got this confirmed
(Ok it isn't :D)

this map should be renamed island roulette
Loved the content
Great video
Why not switch the compass?
1:32 thats a decent amount of what??
Give me food 🍲
NOW!!!! 😡😡😠😠
It would be more interesting if those rounds weren't some arbitrary islands nobody cares about 😅
what does he mean when he says 'gen 1'
I think it's generation 1 coverage - older and lower camera quality. I can't identify this kind of stuff yet.
Fun to watch not to play haha!
