This was so much fun! Thank you very much for doing this, and in so detailed fashion! I was so happy to see that you noticed all of the details, especially a lot of the obscure ones, and that you enjoyed the illustration so much. ❤ Serbia: Jelen is a popular beer brand there, so just to have a little more colourful variety in the Balkans, I just filled the country with them. As for Bangladesh: I actually forgot to illustrate it, and I honestly didn't realize it until you pointed it out. Complete brainfart there by me haha. xD
Great work! I'd like to point out that the red soil in Brazil feels a bit off though. It is mostly in the Central Western and Southern parts of the country. It's much less common in the Northeast and near the coast.
5:08 I think the speed limit sign is pointing out that it’s mostly only western states that have speed limits as high as 80. In the rest of the country, the highest possible speed limit is usually 70 or 75.
I'm really nerding out over this, what a beautiful illustration! And I'm surprised I even learned new stuff! I've played this game almost every single day for 5 years, but apparently there's still some common meta I wasn't aware of!

Jelen indeed means deer in Serbian, but it refers to a beer brand which is quite distinctive to a town named Apatin (where the brewery is) but it's the largest beer brand in Serbia so you can see it all around the country. It's also a great tip for the Balkans where you can see different beer brands on bilbords. For example in Serbia beside Jelen there's Zaječarsko, for Croatia there's Ožujsko, Karlovačko, in Montenegro Nikšićko, and North Macedonia Skopsko. I guess it's hard to memorize if you're not from Balkans, but we sure do know all the beers in the region 😂😂
14:35 I think there is no clear-cut border because it is likely a region where the languages and cultures of both countries blend and intermix. But I could be wrong.
@@fleek6319 Yes but the missing border line is in the Torne Valley which is a culturally Finnish area on both sides of the border. Finnish language and architectural style is on both sides of the border.

The Canadian Shield is some of the oldest exposed rock on Earth. Because it is extremely dense and hard, it can withstand glaciers and erosion fairly well, but the topsoil gets scraped away every ice age so it never really builds up.
Such a good video!! I learned a ton. So thank you @zi8gzag and @choekaas both. A couple things I noticed: the two Alto signs are actually both in Panama, showing the font change when you're west vs east of the canal. And the US speed limit sign, in addition to being different from Canada's "Maximum", is specifically 80MPH which is a really high speed that you typically only see on a few highways, like the I-15 in Utah. Oh and Ghana tape is correctly front-right (I think you were thinking of Reunion!)
The Canadian Shield is the remnants of a huge mountain range that was decapitated by retreating glaciers. Absolutely beautiful, and makes for incredible outdoor adventures. There's a reason we call it cottage country, it's perfect for camping and other outdoor sports. Personal favourites are canoeing, hiking, and snowshoeing. It's difficult to build infrastructure because all the soft rock was scraped off by the ice sheets and left exposed the hard underlying rock. Driving the highways where they had to blast through the rock is an interesting combination of appreciation and intimidating.
8:22 The second "Pare" sign is in Panama. He is illustrating the separation between the use of "Pare" in Mexico/Central America and "Alto" in South America.
I’ve always loved these kinds of maps! It reminds of one I had as a kid with drawings of people and animals on it. Nice vid, really liked the explanations of the details
the ghana tape isnt incorrectly placed btw also rip that theres no south georgia and south sandwich islands, falkland islands, bangladesh, american samoa, pitcairn islands, reunion black tape, and no british indian ocean territory (and basically no cocos islands thing) oh and 11:39 thats martinique old flag cuz martinique has some trekker coverage

19:52 Yes we're a catholic country, but this reference is more specific. When someone dies in a car crash, sometimes people will set up a cross next to the road where the person died, especially in rural areas. Occasionally there will be flowers as well. (Until now, it never occured to me that this might be Poland-specific thing)
it's always so weird how well known Inuvik is to geoguessr players. I first heard of inuvik through playing geoguessr, and managed to manifest myself moving there through it. Amazing little town

Theses Quebec ''bollards'' have two very different use. The blue/yellow(or blue/blue, yellow/yellow) are used for lane markings, yellow is for dotted passing lane marking and blue is solid yellow line. The white ones are used at the beginning(3 red lines) on(1 red line) and end(green) of the guard rails during the winter for the snow plowers
Lovely walkthrough! I think the missing borders point out very common 50/50s - like northern Sweden and northern Finland. There's also no border between Botswana and South Africa.

The swiss speed limit sign doesn't show the town name but it reads "Generell" and is always on a 50 km/h speed limit sign. It means generally 50 km/h. It is usually shown when entering a town
The Canadian Shield was created by a massive glacier retreating (last ice age), which scraped most of the dirt/soil away, leaving just a few inches of soil and a lot of exposed bedrock.
12:34 I am quite sure they both knew the meta, especially Blinky, but with the high stress they missed it.. Also I think he saw the mini palm trees in the garden usually typical of south UK and went there

The speed limit is 80 mph in parts of the western U.S. high plains freeways. In the Eastern US, midwest and on the West Coast, the speed limit is rarely over 70 mph, never over 75. That is why that sign near Utah says 80.
The swiss speed signs do not have the town name on them. It says "Generell" which means "general" it is most often used in towns and cities to mark the 50 kph speed limit. Basically when you are in a Town the speed is 50 in general unless there is for example a 30 kph zone. And because everyone knows that the limit is generally 50 there is no need for a speed restriction sign after every intersection for example.
Personally I wouldn't call most of these things metas. For me metas are things like the the google car, roof rack, camera generation, etc. Something that is entirely the result of how the locations happened to be photographed and has nothing to do with what the place would actually look like if you were physically there.
