Meeting you was definitely the highlight of the hike for me as well. What a treat! The best part of traveling is the people that we meet along the way!
You are having such great adventures in this part of the US and thank you for taking us along! Those caves looked awesome. Glad Toaster is having some lovely new hikes too! Take care x
This week the little thing I accomplished was getting all the dishes done last night. And the big thing is that I scheduled my first therapy session with a new therapist.
"It's a little old but we need to eat it." 😆 Fame ain't going to Kent's head folks!! I'm obsessed with this vlog style. Keep it coming. You're living my dreams!!
I love getting to see the landscape behind you for wherever you are. So many of the campgrounds you’ve stayed at all look quite similar from the inside of the van, it’s nice to really see how different all these places are! Obviously this requires favorable weather conditions to pull it off so it won’t always be realistic for all the vlogs. But if the weather is nice and you don’t have nearby campers to worry about, please know this is fun to see! :)
I’m so glad you like it!! We’re going to try to do as many outside as possible. It took us nearly an hour to find this spot, but I think it’s worth the effort!
I loved this style of video! Gives a better idea of what your lifestyle on this journey is like! I love all of the hiking! My cousin, Greg Witt wrote very comprehensive books on hike and tour he has done throughout his life. So he has to travel all of the time. I also really like the rundown f all the Knitty things. Thanks for these great videos!
That is soooo exciting ! I live in Portland, OR and I’m so excited that you will be here. I hope I can meet you in person. Let us know which shop you will be at. ❤
It occurs to me that the Musselburgh hat would be perfect for colorwork as the floats would be sandwiched safely between the inner and outer hat. You could have one side be colorwork and use some kind of stitch patterns on the other side for texture and have two completely different hats. Cool idea. When I do a toboggan hat with a hemmed brim, especially when I use colorwork, I do a Turkish cast on using two separate circular needles instead of doing a provisional cast on or fooling with picking up stitches. I knit what will be the inside of the hem in 1 x 1 rib and then change to stockinette for the "brim" of the hat that will be visible from the outside. It's then so simple to pull that bottom needle up, hold the two circular needles side by side and then take a stitch from each needle and k2tog to "sew" the hem. That way you can put a band of color work around the bottom of the hat, but the ribbing on the inside keeps the hat firmly on your head and provides a double layer of warmth over your ears -- plus it hides your floats.
It's nice to see that you where here in my neck of the woods or should I say desert lol, I hope you enjoyed this beautiful Arizona weather before it gets to hot, and you also enjoyed the Wild Wild West of tombstone. if you or Kent are into western movies a good movie to watch is " TOMBSTONE". can wait for the next episode 218
It would be really cool to see a route map of your adventure so far. When making socks so often how do you protect your hands? How long do you knit between breaks?
Hi Natalie! If you find yourselves near Monument Rock it was really interesting when my family stopped there on our way home from Texas. Carlsbad Caverns was one of our stops too. I loved the "bashful elephant" formation. Our trip was in 1985, so long ago but, still a fresh and wonderful memory. 😊 Happy and safe travels you two! Oh! I'm almost finished with my third pair of short socks this year. It's my fourth pair of socks that I've ever made. 💜✌️🧶🧦
@@KnittyNatty just finished pair number 3 at 2:21 this morning! I'm twitchin' to get stitchin' and eyeing another pattern to try. It's the "Wish You Were Here" pattern by The Kitchen Sink Shop. Found it on Ravelry. 🩷✌️🧶
Really enjoyed the 48 hour vlog. I am loving reliving and remembering all those great places we visited and hikes we did in that part of the country. So many interesting and beautiful places. The observatory was a very special memory. You two are having an adventure you will never forget.
great combination of knitting and travel. Meeting people along the way makes for lifetime memories. Very well done! Love the 48 hours, you are always improving ❤. How many junior ranger badges does Kent have? Blue sky and sun, the best.
Hi from Tucson AZ ~ you are so close! Maybe I missed it but if you can get to Tucson, check out Birdhouse Yarns and the restaurant next door Tumerico. Also so many great hikes here.
oh my goodness! we are following in your footsteps. We just spent two weeks in New Mexico and went to Gaudalupe Mountains Nat'l Park (also did the hike to Pratt Cabin) as well as Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands! Curious, does Toaster stay in the RV while you hike? I know Carlsbad Caverns has a kennel, and White Sands is dog friendly. So enjoy watching your videos, especially this one.
The 48-hour segment is awesome 👌 Also appreciate the overall shorter length video. It's so fun to sit on my sofa, knitting, and tag along on your adventures!
I really enjoyed the travel vlog and seeing all your adventures! The outdoor videos are nice too! Such pretty scenery and the “road noise” is barely noticeable. Can’t wait to see the next adventures!
Thank you both, for your dialog, of this wonderful trip! Sunburn truly is no laughing matter, glad you had a shirt to put on. And no, don't worry, your hair is definitely not "supercrazy" - at least mine always is and yours looks much better than mine! Thanks for another episode.
Hi I already ordered my sparkling skein. The color is beautiful. I love New Mexico it’s called the Land of Enchantment for good reason. Have great Travels. We do live in a very beautiful country.
the chalk bag hack is so cool! do you ever get pain from knitting and walking at the same time? i never get knitting pain if i'm sitting down but knitting and walking i get a sore lower back, i assume it has something to do with having my arms bent rather than hanging down by my sides. i've just started doing about 20 mintues of walking with knitting, then 20 minutes of normal walking.
#Question I am considering purchasing an advent calendar for next Christmas to make the battenburg blanket! What yarn dyers do you recommend? Also, a budget friendlier option would be nice. I love watching your videos and think your travels are so cool! :)
I love the 48 hour vlog! Not just bc it ends at our knit night 😆 so glad you had fun with the sleds, we’re looking forward to following along with more of your adventures!
@leahlovestoknit……I am super tickled to know that there is a knit group in my hometown! I live up in Colorado these days, but am a NM native and grew up in Las Cruces (and have been able to get back for quick trips the last few years!) but one of these days I’m going to make it a point to plan a longer stay so I can find all the fun yarny things that weren’t around in my childhood. I’m actually getting ready to cast on a shawl with some homegrown NM yarn that I bought at the farmer’s market on Main last fall. 😁

What is the heel on the Knit Tea socks? It is very cool. Can it be worked toe up? I cannot wait to go to Arkansas Yarn Co. We are staying in Malvern for the Solar Eclipse.
If you did a picot edge between the ribbing and knit edge to give an interesting detail and distinctive split to the 2 sides would that work for the musselburgh(pronounced mussel-burra not boro) ?
I love your videos. I purchased the vanilla is the new black pattern awhile back. I like the way it looks but I am having a hard time figuring it out. Do you know if there is a tutorial somewhere?
What is the triangular sock heel you’re doing? I tried the Fish Lips Kiss heel and didn’t like it much, so I’m trying to find something else I like. I love how that one looks on the back of the heel. I actually like the way the ribbing appears on the alpaca Musselburgh hat. I think it looks like an intentional picot edge.
Okay this is the positive outlook I need!
I miss my hiking days 😢 now I have to content with my knitting days 😊. And the knits are looking awesome!
I love seeing all your traveling adventures! Keep doing this kind of thing and the knitting of course.
The 48 hours were great. The integration of the non-knitting life with the knitting world is so great!!

For your hat, what about doing one row of just purl stitches between the ribbing and the stockinette sections to give yourself a definite fold line?
