let me put this debate to rest. Full time driver here, this is why the driverless cars wont replace us.
    1. Driverless cars cant punch in gate codes for gated communities and customers are too entitled to walk to the front of the complex. Cars cant get in.
    2. Gps isnt perfect and it sends you to allys or to back gates of apartments that dont open, only a human will have the common sense to go around to the front of the complex which is usually on a different street.
    3. Cars are too expensive to maintain and none of these companies will want to absorb all the costs of buying and maintaining these vehicles to satisfy demand.
    4. Without an independent contractor to blame things on, the lawsuits will cripple these companies. All accidents the company would have to pay out on, let alone people that have panic attacks while in these vehicles and them not being able to tell a driver to pull over.
    5. lets not forget who is gonna clean these cars if someone throws up in them or if they get a flat tire. If a driver gets a flat he will most likely google a tire shop and slowly drive there to replace the tire whereas the driverless car would sit there waiting to be retrieved.
    6. Electric cars cant drive all day like a gas powered vehicle. Charging takes lots of time and time is money. Drivers can fill up with gas and be back on the road in a few minutes, time is money.
ALL DRIVERS KNOW THESE THINGS so rest easy my fellow drivers, they may use this to supplement but it will never be large enough to overtake us, it costs too much money.
&. Uber and lyft are barely profitable NOW after all these years with us handling all the expenses. they cant afford it because each ride would be placed too high to make a profit.

Do you actually think these people didn't think of that back in 2016 once they invested billions of dollars in it!!?
They also have driverless trucks too to replace truck drivers.
This is A.I. taking over and what you fail to realize they changing the cities as well to smart cities and 15 minute cities.
You think the market was ready for Electric Vehicles as well? They were not and still don't have an infrastructure for it
The reason why this gonna work is cause the public jump on every new technology that is created like it's a new cellphone or game system.
These cars will hit the market this year. They already changed the term from ride-share to ride hail!
These companies can't afford to hire drivers as employees when your government is ending gig work.
These companies like Uber and Lyft are listed as Technology Company not Transportation Company so this is the direction they were going once they started. Now they moving 100 percent driverless cars every year until 2030 where the market has done away with gas vehicles and these cars will be fully in the market....every year you will see more and more on the streets until they take over.
Go look at Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix- Waymo is partnered with Uber to hit the market today! Waymo provides the driverless vehicles while Uber supply the passengers.
Los Angeles got 50,000 customers lined up on waiting list to ride these vehicles cause Los Angeles putting 50 cars in the market to start off.
Why y'all think these companies treat drivers like crap with lowering they pay - cause they want y'all to quit! They don't care about you nor the rider which is why they walking away charging more to riders and paying less to drivers.
The driverless cars the company get 100 percent profit. They gonna start off cheap and once the Public get adjusted to it then they gonna be expensive.
You ever thought that Uber and Lyft would work to run taxi cabs out business when Rideshare hit the market?
Cab drivers said same thing y'all saying then hated Uber Drivers once it ran them out of market.
Uber had lots of lawsuits did that stop them from continue growing? What you think Uber doing now - they going to driverless cars and they saying to you they don't need you cause you being replaced with A.I. and your government and corporations are backing them cause many of them going A.I too
Y'all better wake up and stop playing cause this sht is real!

@@rocketboostjumpYou better wake up and stop playing. These cars already out in major cities, you think they gonna waste billions over lame excuses. They no longer Ride Share, they are Ride Hail. They already transition. They just waiting on you drivers to quit which is why they paying you lower fares and taking more from riders. The riders gonna want the driverless vehicles over you cause they gonna start off offering it to them cheap which one the rider gonna take - the cheaper fare while you sitting in a car waiting for pings the driverless cars passing you up with your passengers. They already figured out those lame excuses yall have back in 2016. They had almost ten years they not wasting billions same as Tesla not wasting billions....y'all better wake up.

@@sonny3583 right....I live in MN and they just passed 1.40/mile and .51/minute. ordinance in Minneapolis. Uber threatened they will leave but everyone knows they are the biggest liars and they will never leave. Also Uber sold off its driverless car division many years ago because they know it isn't profitable. Those driverless cars are useless in MN in winter and bad weathers. Everyone was worried when robots were introduced in the manufacturing sector but guess what majority of the workers in those companies are human. Just because you see some few driverless cars on the doesn't mean they will eliminate all human drivers. Only human drivers can help unload luggage, assist the handicap, do deliveries, and ask for directions when it gets lost because of GPS issues. I am not worried at all.

Those new to Rideshare since have not done their research before getting into this industry cause many drivers quit once Uber started lowering their fares and changing their policies every year. Many bought SUVs cause they made 2000 to 3000 a week. Some bought houses but the moment Uber change the drivers pay was never the same and many lost those vehicles and homes.
Drivers need an exit strategy out of RideShare cause have y'all noticed that they changed the term from Ride-share to Ride-Hailing - they transitioning to 100 percent technology to receive 100 percent profit.
FYI. Uber and Lyft was never registered as a Transportation Company they were always registered as a Technology Company so this was their end result - Autonomous Vehicles! Full A.I.
