Yes, Just went through your tutorial. I tried installing the JointPull extension and it doesn't work for me (not compatible with my operating system) I guess. Im using the trial base sketchup before I decide to purchase it. it is working for me though. is there another way to push and pull on round surfaces?

This video is spot on.. most sketchup users dont know how to model in quads. Do they need to. Not really but in my case thats how i use sketchup only quad modeling then use the tomtom smooth. Since am coming from a low poly modeling characters you need to learn wuad modeling. Makes life easier.
Lookimg forward to more of this quad modeling videos..
    Thank you.

Generally agree - most casual users don't need to know how to model in quads if they're just using hard angles, etc. The problem is (and I'm learning this myself with my own modeling) that you get kind of limited in what you're able to create if you don't understand these principles - you just have a shape that you can't model and are just...stuck. That said, obviously I'm still learning this myself - I'm actually watching videos on Blender and other modeling programs to learn the principles behind quad modeling - hopefully I can translate that information in an understandable way to SketchUp users.
      Thanks for the comment! :)

Hey! Thanks for the tutorial. I'm currenlty trying to figure out how to create quads for a round window frame, however I am currently stuck with it....Maybe you could make another tutorial for this? Quads are great especially for UV Mapping

I'm very interested in seeing where you go with this. It seems quad modelling would help with organic/asymmetric models and their texture mapping.

This could be very useful for those working between SketchUp and 3ds max. As an architect I want to be designing in Sketchup and then adding more detail in 3ds max. The problem is that 3ds max doesn't like anything with more than 4 sides. Any chance you create a tutorial which shows the transition between pieces of software?

SketchUp 7 is a lot of versions ago - my recommendation would be to get a newer version of SketchUp

I'm searching for optimal shapes for passive solar heating, by playing with thermal mass, irradiance (energy from the sun) and buildings that are assembled to work with all elements in concert with site conditions. Walls with glass in them along with walls almost without glass, and thermal mass inside the envelope that is sized and placed to utilize expected energy. Real world practicalities say that vertical walls (plumb) are less expensive than anything else, so energy inefficiencies associated with using less than optimum angles are 'eaten' or forgiven and that energy is lost. As houses grow smaller, those calculations become more critical so figuring out shapes that capture the most energy using the least glass regardless of wall angle(s) is a worthwhile endeavor. One factor; the ground is our friend when it's both too hot and too cold so the house must have a large interface with the earth. Heat rises to the top of the house, so it should be as small as possible. Pyramid-like, how coincidental.
One ideal but impractical iteration would resemble a cube with all the glass on one wall and the whole business would track the sun, keeping that exposed wall perpendicular to (incoming) irradiance throughout the day. Double axis tracking is required because the sun arcs across the sky so it won't be built anytime soon.
The "quad" style of modeling certainly inspires some thought. In the last month I've incorporated Oculus Rift VR into my setup. Hurricane Francis was a mild disruption by comparison. I only use it for 30 minutes or so to review a model every few days, because of all the changes it opens up. As a contractor, I imagine the sub-trades putting the place together, and can easily "fatten" a wall or move something to make their work go smoothly. I see where they'll set up their tools, how materials will flow and where potentially unsafe areas are. You could do this when you draw conventional, 2D plans, but VR takes it to another level. What's needed is a minimalist model showing shapes and materials that can be "quad" edited from within VR. You'll need a cast iron stomach to avoid queasiness from the dis-orientation. What would Frank Wright do?

you have to download the plugin and install it. If you did this, then right click in toolbar area and find the Quad tool plugin toolbar.
