- In this video I used a MK14 ceramic TIG cup out of one of my new Navigator Gas Lens kits. I get a ton of feedback on the type of kits folks want to see, and this by far was the most requested setup.

Would love to download everything welding-related from your head 😂 I’ve been following you for well over 14 years probably and you always have the best Arc Shots. 👍🏻 I can't wait for the Tig Wire feeder to get cheaper, that will be the cat's meow. I want a Fronius machine and Helmet, but it's a lot of money and custom jobs aren't as plentiful as they once were. Can you do a video on MAG welding? You are the Bob Ross of Welding, my friend. I’d love to meet you in person someday.
Thanks to your videos Jody I’ve got my d17 in aluminum, cromoly, stainless, nickle alloys and titanium at a maintenance and repair facility. Pays the bills well!!! Cant thank you enough! Just last week i repaired a inconel jet pipe that went to xray and passed :)
That is awesome!
Thanks again Jody for the great combination of theory and practice. Much appreciated here as a hobbyist welder.
The names of these cups are hilarious. Is it a coincidence or what… FUPA, BBW 😂.
I'm a fresher...I've got certainty about the variation in weld bead because of the type of cups we use for the job.
Thanks a lot😊😊😊😊
I’ve been a structural maritime welder my whole career and I recently got an aerospace welding job and lemme tell you this is such a different kind of welding. We mostly weld inconel & titanium. Glad to see you uploading some d17.1 welding
cleaner shop and work area, its all about finesse' in aerospace
@@jb-rc9ku definitely
I have a pallet full of 5/8"-3/4"thick x 24" to 48" long, beveled and slotted paper shear blades from a old paper cutting factory I've been holding onto with no idea what to use it for, that I might have to make my own welding fixture with now.
Love the new 17 style kits, will be ordering some soon! One thing I've learned from welding is you can't have too much Expendables in on hand!!
Fantastic video. I'm going to be making myself a decent gas purge fixture next week. Something I've been meaning to make for a while now. ❤❤❤
Thanks Jody
Good job and great information Jody. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.
Hahaha, that pulse "oopsy" at the begening of your weld... I literally did that today on 8" schedule 40 practice pipe today playing around with my dipping teq that I am trying to nail
Damn Jody, thanks! I've been welding primarily stainless for the last 3 years and I didn't know about the 3 second rule! Will definitely keep that in mind, along with the "Hot & fast is better than cold & slow" part next time I throw my hood on. Once again, learned something new from you! Thanks again!!
one thing i learned on my own when tig welding thin sheet ss (im talkin 22-24 gauge son) is to get the arc just lit slightly at the lowest possible amp and then get closer to the work and wait for the puddle to form before going higher on the amps and starting the run otherwise you just burn through or get crappy looking welds
Awesome and informative video as always. So tempted to get that new kit as well
Well my shop got first use of my PrimeWeld 225, had former tech break a trans bellhousing and our one female tech comes in 8 mo pregnant and sge practiced and welded it up. I hadn't don't much tig and she used to do production so between us we got it basically set and trans got put in. Welder did awesome. Now for me to practice.
Thank you sir! Great info as always
Awesome video Jody you the man👊🏻
I held my d17.1 certs and d1.1, d1.2 in aerospace. My secret was to get my test plates etched right before I would weld them. Does not matter the material.
Super comme d'hab.
Merci
Great information Jody,
let your viewers know, Space X is hiring TIG weldors, and a D1:17 test is required......
best wishes from Orlando, Paul
Is it stainless steel?
@@MEgWaRD_XXwild guess its titanium or inconel
@@jb-rc9ku Thank you!!
Jody Ive been watching you since 2008, youve still got the best welding channel on youtube! I had an idea to start fabbing parts, I have access to a waterjet and tig. What kind of parts or what industry would you go after? Where would you start?
Jody, can you share your set up for filming the arc? I would like to video myself to see what I am actually doing. Great videos.
Question about a video of yours I watched some time back. It's about the Lincoln 210 MP. What might be the result if one was to switch connections with the tig setup and tig weld aluminum? So switching torch to the positive and ground clamp to the negative.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Nice video! Can you show us how you made your quick fixture?
I will work on that
Have you ever tried the arc captain 200p i was wondering how it compares to your primeweld225x
Mig ceramic welding all potion video upload please 🙏
I'm just learning Tig welding. I'm so shaky when I'm welding. Torch and filler metal all jiggling around
Try lay wire technique and just flash the wire in! Are you using a foot petal?
@@MEgWaRD_XX I'm using a foot pedal. My little welding table is a little high. Not optimal I'm sure 😔
@@yellowveedubsounds to me like you’re not relaxed and pushing down on the rig to hard
@@Salvation4allnations I'll definitely try to relax more thanks
@@yellowveedub just a bit of advice I’ve been welding now for 15 years and when I first started off, I can remember how shaky I was and that was the reason why
we test on 3 different materials..... .020....188, 17-4ph, and 718
i love the aerospace videos, in the process of trying to get a job in aerospace rn. ty for the video
I’d love to get into aerospace as a welder but seems like the path into it requires being an A&P. Are there that many dedicated manual welders in aerospace anymore with all the composite structures and automated welding systems now available?
Airline mtc bases want A&p license but other facilities don’t care
lol I told you how to make that fixture.....your sample was ok.
Long time since I watched one of video, awesome work, but what is the advantage of such a massive electrode ?
No advantage. 1/16” would be plenty big for this amperage
But perhaps no disadvantage either-just need to have a sharp tapered point. And reduced need to switch electrodes and gear if you are sometimes needing to weld heavier stuff with more amps.
great videos, need to weld 3"x 1/2" aluminum strap to 3"x3"x3/8" aluminum angle with a primeweld 325x. am totally new to welding tig and aluminum, do you have any videos on this heavy stuff? if you could get me in the ballpark with machine settings, rod, cups gas flow etc it would be much appreciated. i know im skipping years of practice but im an old fart and i need to get this headache built for my hay truck!! any help would be great. thanks bob
I rember those! Was that Joe Chance that told you to start the certification?
Yep. Wassup Robbie?
@weldingtipsandtricks Still kickin'. Just made Lead in my shop. So...I don't weld that much anymore. 🤣🤣 Living in Hiram now. Not too far from you.
Off topic, but does anyone know how to stop a 6010 from fingernailing when doing an open groove?
Exactly, leave the rod in the puddle to finish off, if you master this, she will be very pleased! Jokes aside, 100%
Oh btw, don't they use helium on titanium or is that not necessary?
@@Duckfisher0222 not usually necessary
