I'm so glad I watched this video. I am going to put up new hull liners and head liners in my sailboat this spring and was worried (for two years) about unsightly seams. This is perfect! I live about 20 minutes from Sailrite so I'll be making a trip over there soon. Thanks.

Ok watched the video this am.. Rich was laughing and smiling throughout the project. I'm thinking what happened. Then the industrial glues and aerosols came out. Deductive analysis says "Rich was juiced on glue". More power to you. Glue can be the thing that helps a marriage stick together.

Hi guys. I’m about to do the same project. May I ask where you got the 3/8 inch from? Sailrite?

Hi Ken - We bought the black foam on Amazon. I never put the links to Amazon up because they always change. But here’s the one for the foam XCEL Extra Large, Premium Neoprene Foam Rubber Sheet - 72" Wide x 17" Length x 3/8" Thick,Soft/Medium for Cosplay Costume, DIY Projects, and Weatherstrip, Made in USA www.amazon.com/dp/B07CB2ZLHZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_msTSFb5EJ2YRF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1. Good luck!

@@svrambleon Sweet! I’m grateful to you both for this post as I undertake this early winter project. Next up I’m tackling the same windless project as you installed. Thx again and have a safe and happy turkey day.

How do you inspect the backing plates?

A better question would be: "How many people actually 'inspect' their backing plates in the first place? I inspected all the backing plates right before I removed, re-cored, re-bedded, and re-installed every single piece of deck hardware on the boat with brand new bolts, nuts, and lock washers, so we should be good for another 45 years or so.

Ouch! A bit passive aggressive there.😳
