Yeah Pikachu I do count as Ash's starter, so maybe this is a Full Battle Team where he doesn't use Pikachu.
Definitely a more realistic ultimate team than one with a bunch of starters. Just makes more sense when it comes to a typical ultimate team.

Minus, i love all your analytics to this topic and it shows you love Pokémon as much as i do. Ash is one of the main figures in anime i grew up watching, saw him from start to finish, and the knowledge you gave for his ultimate teams spoke to me on a personal level and i loved it. Your ideas of his ultimate teams for both with and without starters perfectly matched what i was thinking with them and the way you broke it down made even more sense. Ash is definitely one of my favorite icons of anime and my childhood and you did him justice by breaking down his teams like this. I give you as many thumbs up as his number of Pokémon. You should do an analysis on both of his ultimate teams against any of Red's teams next to see who is the best candidate for Pokémon master.

Lucario isn't all that strong without Mega Evolution (Dragonite, Dracovish and Sirfetch'd all have better feats and have proven they can defeat Elite 4 and Champion level opponents without the use of a power-up).

I’m sorry but not having pikachu just feels wrong. I get not have all the starters but that’s his literal first Pokémon and ace and it’s only a starter in those games cause of the play on the anime. Just like Eevee. It just feels wrong.
I like the new avatar, got drip 🔥 great list, the only thing i’d disagree with is leavanny. It took down roxies koffing, despite being at a disadvantage. but overall, he was pretty mid.

@bolt8412 I wouldn't count a Pokemon's potential in vgc towards this list, since these picks were made entirely based on what they did in the anime. If you wanted to make a list of Ash's best vgc team, it would probably look very different, for example: you just know that Incineroar would for sure be an automatic inclusion
I agree with your team. But if would've have done an ultimate team then instead of snorlax i would have dracovish to counter the ground type. Plus it has one less pokemon weak to fighting.

Snorlax belongs on this team because its Ash's third strongest Kanto mon besides Pikachu and Charizard and its the only one of Ash's mons to solo a Frontier Brain, however, Dracovish belongs on this team too because its the strongest (If not second strongest) Journeys team member (Alongside Sirfetch'd). Lycanroc belongs on this team too, because it solo'd a Kahuna (Yes... you can make the argument Kingler solo'd a league opponent during Kanto, but honestly, they shouldn't be stronger than Kahuna's and Frontier Brains).

We are only through the canto Tem as far as I'm in and I don't believe Ash himself ever owned an Eevee which is the only starter Pokémon in any of the main series tidols that he didn't own cause. Yes, I consider the let's go Pikachu and Eevee series a main series title.
When 4 out of 6 Pokemon is weak to a particular typing then it's not a "ultimate team"

@@duelsenglish aside from Lycanroc, the other 3 have shown they’re capable to handling Fighting types in the anime, Lucario and Snorlax in particular, seeing as how they defeated Fighting type trainers and Krookodile does know Aerial Ace and was shown to be pretty bulky.

I know a lot of people won't agree but I would definitely put Melmetal in there. He is quite literally a beast! Can out power almost anyone. Sure, he doesn't have much experience but just in those 2-3 fights he showed insane amounts of skill and power.
So, my ultimate team would be Lucario, Snorlax, Meltmetal, Dragonite, Gengar, and finally one of Lycanroc/Krookodile

I’d put Talonflame in there, in place of Lycanroc.. Sure Lycanroc is a decent Pokemon when you take away the fact it’s biggest feat was a victory in a league where literally anyone could enter without any prior experience, but Talonflame offers a bit more type coverage, which means it’d destroy that Bulletproof Chesnaught that would’ve otherwise came in and destroyed 4/6 of Ash’s team.. 😂
I mean, Lycanroc solo'd a Kahuna though and yes... i do agree Talonflame belongs on this list. I would replace Lucario however, since without Mega Evolution, feat wise, it isn't as strong (It has never defeated any Elite 4 or Champion Pokemon without the use of Mega Evolution, unlike its Journeys teammembers Sirfetch'd, Dracovish and Dragonite) and Gengar doesn't belong on this list either (By sheer proxy of being the weakest Journeys member in terms of feats).
A good list would've been heracross talonflame krokodile snorlax dracovish and melmetal
Plus having 3 Kanto mons is really straight forward almost like making a jn team the rule should be one per series not repeating mons from same series to make a team.

The dragon power up WAS explained. When a pokemon swallows an attack of its own type, the energy causes a power up which causes stuff to grow off their body. It happened to ashs grotle, dawns cyndaquil and dawns mamoswine

It actually is confirmed that some people from Ultra Megalopolis would have Poipole be their first partner. So technically it is a starter, but it’s never been one for the player; not in the main series or the spin-offs.
Excluding that, the only Pokémon that have been starters are the obvious 3 from each region, as well as Pikachu & Eevee.

How is win rate calculated cause he said tauros win rate was 41% but he won 3 lost 2 and drew 1?
tbh... winrate is a shitty rate to determine the strenght of a Pokemon.
Like... if we look at winrate... Charizard and Pikachu are mediocre mons because they have a bad winrate... however... its kinda obvious... because if you battle more, you also lose more. Thats why you need to look at feats only... another example is Talonflame having a lower winrate than Hawlucha, despite Talonflame literally having been the ace of the Kalos team (It battled the most Gym Leaders out of all the Kalos mons and despite that, only went down in one gym and league match without taking another mon with him and it took down a mon with him in the others).
Another example why Winrate is shitty is that during Unova, Ash deliberatly send out Leavanny to weaken Sawk and it was even flat out mentioned that without Leavanny, Krookodile wouldn't have been able to defeat Sawk. So imo... that win should have gone to Leavanny too, since it was a huge contribution factor for the win.

I didn’t rely solely on win record. It was definitely a factor, but not the only one.
Yup. For example: Mr. Mime has a 100% winrate, due to it having defeated that Hariyama during Journeys, but not being knocked out by the Mightyena.

You can't give a trainer an "ultimate team" without their partner in there. Pikachu's no ace by any means imo cos it's unfair to all his other teammates (just like Lance's ace is not Gyarados despite its prominence in Journeys) and there's only one ace per team, but he's still Ash's BFF and essentially other half. Splitting the duo up doesn't seem right

There's a pretty solid argument to be made that Pikachu is Ash's strongest Pokemon, and unquestionably his most reliable partner
