Before I got with my girlfriend, I was skeptical about letting a woman know about my collection. But when she came over, she was looking for the bathroom and accidentally opened the door to my Lego collection room. She loved it instantly and all I have to do to keep her happy is buy her an occasional set.
It was the same when I met my girlfriend, I thought she won’t like my vintage toy collection, and I was right 😂😂😂, but she’s happy for me to collect and I’ve just had the garage done to house it all
Something worse happened to me, on a birthday, I was with my parents and looking around I found a completely new Ninjago set specifically from the Nindroids season on a shelf and they bought it for me, we went to the register and the set (which was the one that brought Cole with a nindroid in a vehicle with a saw in the front) was very cheap but for some reason it was not registered and a cashier lady (Who was the same age as me, I think I was maybe 16 at the time) came with me to see if the price of the set was correct while we were walking she asked me, hey, for who in the thing you are going to buy ? and I answered, well today is my birthday, and she didn't answer me, in fact she stayed silent from that moment on, but I learned a valuable lesson that day and that is, if you tell a girl that you like Lego and she doesn't say anything, well that's not the one XD
Omg “a 6x1 oot the exhaust port!” Or “my mate dropped 160 quid on an 80 piece set” You Sir are endlessly quotable and I may have to get one or two of your quotes inscribed on my tomb stone! They are THAT good!!! 👍
It was like you were narrating my life. Also, it always cracks me up when I get a set that will potentially triple in value in just a few short years and the cashier says, "oh, I bet your kids are going to love this" and I'm like "I bet they will".
My wife has unfortunately been corrupted too. I'm allowed to collect any pirate or castle set but she has really gotten into anything winter village and we pretty much have a complete collection (but not all the boxes).... I was very much holding off on the 90th anniversary castle (because it was too much for me even though I loved it)...but she got it for me and got herself the home alone house at the same time (claiming it would fit in the winter village)...I I also picked up all the pirates of the Caribbean sets and have both the Black pearl and queen Anna's revenge...
The good news is that even though you could say a lot of your money is wasted/blown on Lego. To warrant your collection you could just turn around and sell them all and likely earn more than what you’ve spent. So in a way, you still have all your money. I go phases once every 1.5 years where I blow a good few hundred on minifigures and a few new sets. However I mostly buy sets for the minifigs, I pull them out, stow them away, then dump the pieces in a bin, unless the set is an utterly amazing must build. This means I could in a sense, sell all the pieces for a lot of money (makes me feel better lmao) but mostly so when my daughter is old enough she can play with them.
That is true, your networth with all the value of lego sets probably even increased compared on what you spent it on. But for matter of fact, you will not get any money from lego lying around until you press that sell button.
I justify my lego collection the exact same way. That my girls can play with (when they are old enough) and I'll make sure to keep sets complete so even after I can sell it for probably the same or maybe even more than I paid for it. So win win.
that line you said about the comparison to how tight you keep you blinds shut. Hilarious!! Great video. I have always liked lego and have built and played with legos most my life but am new to lego as a "Hobby" yes AFOL here for about the past 8 months and yes it is very addicting. When I first met my wife, I informed her I was getting a passport to fly to Spain. She asked what I was going to do there. I told her Hasbro was flying ne there to play magic the gathering for their Pro Tour event. I think that made it easier to accept that hobby and to accept Lego too.
Good Lord, I thought your older videos pushed the envelope with suggestive humor but this video went to a *whole other level!* My jaw was on the floor for some of your jokes, they are so edgy I fear Lego may blacklist you for fear for damaging their public image!!!
As a bionicle fan who has been collecting on-off since 2001 I noticed many things to be the same in this niche of lego collecting. Running out of space, having no idea what sets you own and how many. Also the combiner/alternate build angle. Then you can go into fan created models or models made by official lego designers.
My girlfriend didn’t understand the collecting at first, then I got her her first set. She didn’t want to use the instructions cause she is competitive and thought I didn’t use them. when she realized I used instructions to build the sets the already low respect score got even lower 😅🤦♂️
I’m a strictly Lego Star Wars collector (mostly minifigs recently started getting into sets) and I needed to go look in the mirror when most of the things you said were so damn right on the money
"the red hot ball on the sky with the ability to ruin all my plastic" Man, I'm from germany and I can tell you, I am the only LEGO-Collector in the entire country, who actually knows about that Problem. 😂 I even bought me UV-reflecting Foil (?) for the windows of my rooms .. and a very dark curtain ... ... ... and a second very dark curtain ... 😂😂😂
I rediscovered lego during the pandemic and inadvertently started collecting. I purposefully left it in my parents attic when I moved out so that I would stop because I was moving into a small apartment. Now, a year later I somehow have more sets than I had then and I desperately need more space
I find the struggle of Bricklink and mocs on rebrickable vs sets I want pretty hard. There are some pretty nice mocs on rebrickable but that AT AT and Razor Crest are calling plus I need another Galaxy Explorer. Also the problem of Lego not staying in the Logo room. I have shelves in my front room with lego just on display so guests can immediately judge me. It certainly is a struggle.
@@RobrickLego Yeah it’s a rabbit hole once you buy the first one especially with the upload parts to brick link feature. What’s even worse is the designers who have free mocs. Giving you a taste of what they offer haha.

Around here 0.10CAD per part seems to be a pretty fair ratio. You can usually tack a couple more cents onto that per minifig part too. Bionicle and technic are still hard to find a good price to part ratio though. I'll develop one soon I guess
