After I solved the puzzle, I realized that the proper way to solve the chain puzzle with the 3 sliders was to use a light to shine through the little keyhole gap and move the sliders such that all the symbols for the dials project out the other side onto a dark surface. I think, because the flaming candles are on the side of the puzzle with the keyhole, that indicates you need to use light on that side
yep. very cool to see the projected letters.
Yeah I found out after I finished the puzzle. It looked really cool
Really? I was totally trying to do that with my cell phone light before I figured out how to remove the castle map. Then I just looked through the key hole and guessed. I even told my wife how cool it would have been to cast a shadow. Bummer.
I put the keyhole to my eye and looked towards a white computer screen which made it very easy to see the corresponding letters. That part and the pieces with the candles I really liked.
The tug of war is the hint. The first tug of war there are 2 people, so the slider sits in the middle. The second and third only have one person on each, so the sliders pull towards them. You look the the keyhole using the eye/keyhole clue. You can see what each of the symbols are through the hole once its all aligned.
Same experience as you. The puzzle itself, I loved it, it was awesome that every part/step of the puzzle consisted of multiple subparts/substeps. But I had the same issue as you, most pieces we are bit clunky, some of them stuck and it made the experience a bit more difficult. For example, I really had to use some force on removing the dark wood component which helps you map the crown pieces and it lost me maybe 30 mins because I was wondering what to do next and it didn't feel like it is coming out. I finally decided to check a hint and it turned out it should come out but I had to pull it hard, which is normally undesirable.
The piece that came out definitely took me some force, too. I didn't think it could come out, and I had to go to the hints to find out what the deal was...and the first note tells you to remove the piece. I was like "Seriously?!" Once I did, it was cake to solve that puzzle. Honestly, though, the towers gave me the biggest headache. I needed the hints for that one, but most of the hints were things I'd already figured out already so it just got frustrating. Once I saw what they wanted you to really hone in on, I was like "Seriously? There's no way I would've figured that out on my own...". I was basically doing what Chris did and seeing what I could match with what before something worked...even AFTER using the only hint I felt comfortable using because it gave me new info. It was definitely an awesome puzzle, but the previous ones took me anywhere from 30 mins to maybe a little over an hour while this one and the Labyrinth took me 90 mins. >_< They hurt the brain lol
Yeah, the meta intro, not taking yourself so seriously was EXACTLY the comedic relief the intro was missing for at least one of these. I think the timing was perfect. Well done.
I did have a bit of a different experience with this one than shown here. This was one of my all time favorites. I really thought the looking through the keyhole (need a brighter light behind that one) and needing to blow the horn at the end were pretty clever and creative designs.
The trumpets at the end had me so stumped. I actually had to use hints on that one because I tried everything I could think of. I would've NEVER guess I had to blow into the puzzle xD
I had trouble with this puzzle too, pieces getting stuck. But I also had a lot of A haa! moments in figuring things out, such as shining a light through the keyhole to reveal the symbols needed; I thought that was a pretty clever gimmick; shame you missed it.
K, that was probably my favourite intro you guys have done. Great editing, but also hilarious with the narration. Bravo!
Completely agree!
I laughed out loud.
The humorous intro narration was a nifty change up. I enjoyed it. Love watching you solve these puzzles man. Keep ‘em coming. I appreciate it.
Such an ‘epic intro’ and amazing puzzle box Chris!
I thought it was snarky and disappointing.
@@valearl4693 I thought it was snarky and totally something Chris would do.
I think it was DELIBERATELY snarky which was the point. Calling it "Epic" while effectively criticising it was what made it funny. Chris moving from "Epic Voice" to "bored, snarky voice" was a touch of genius!
This in my opinion was the best puzzle box IdVenture has made to date. I loved solving this one. 🤘
Agreed fellow Pat, just a captivating puzzlebox in it's detail and ingenuity. Chris has some good points about it at a high level, and I don't disagree with him at all, but also at a high level this box has pizazz and wow factor. Can't wait for iDventure to restock the much pricier large versions of all of their clueboxes!
I solved this one a few months back, right after their Kickstarter. I could not do that eye hole bit with my glasses. I had to eventually break down and check their website for the solution. You're supposed to look in through the small hole on the back to see the symbols, butI just could not get a good enough look inside. Aside from, it's great a little puzzle.
A 'little janky' is probably how I'd describe the feel of this puzzle box when I was solving mine. I still managed to have a ton of fun with the box if only because it's the first puzzle box like this that I've ever bought, but the parts don't move smoothly and I felt like I was going to break it at several points. The cipher piece I didn't realize could actually come out for quite some time.
...I in fact _did_ break it while putting it back together, unfortunately, getting the windmill lock to lock back into place, I've managed to twist it the wrong direction and it's stuck. The little 'sword' piece that slides out when you get it unlocked is stuck out of the box too. I haven't managed to force it back the other way and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to.
I legit just solved this box yesterday, so I'm very pleased to see one of my favorite RUclipsrs solving it today.
Best part, trying to put it back together, lol. Love it man!!!
Hi Chris! Loved this puzzle but yes, sometimes things get stuck and you've to force them.
Laughed so hard at “I guess this says Start… it says tart” 😂
Yet another excellent video - thanks for some much needed quality entertainment!
Awesome Intro xD In all honesty, when it comes to puzzle boxes I usually skip the intro part, because I can't wait to get to the solving part but with such a funny touch, I gladly watch ^^
i am so excited! for this puzzle and the 1st shop bicycle cards collab! i received mine and they are so wonderful!! super epic intro!!
😂 the commentary for the intro on this one was hilarious. Love it!
Did this one literally last week. Loved it so much but I agree sometimes they are a bit clunky and easy to break
That intro, though! 👍👍 and congrats on the 7 mil subs!! Awesome!👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉✨️🍻
your skills in solving that type of puzzle always amazes me
Excellent video Chris. I love how you continue to grow and find your honest why; it is truly a beautiful journey to be on. We all have the potential for sooo many things.. It is when we discover intuition and believe in practicing following this feeling, which I believe to be an aspect of Grace, that we find our true selves. I appreciate your authenticity soo very much, you are exactly where you are meant to be, you have found your purpose, your meaning in life. Duality being what it is, we are presented with a choice. Once upon a time, I was presented with a choice.. With sheer ego, I had been contemplating, and It answered. At that moment, I understood that it was either submit or no deal. That is when I chose my side. Now I try to honor, the meaning of my name, everyday. Thank you Chris, for being a continuous inspiration for the past several years, and when you come to the next fork in the road, may Grace continue to inspire you.
Geesh! Yeah I can't imagine designing that puzzle either, there's a lot going on there. Had a nice laugh on the intro lol
Man i miss watching these, ive been so busy moving i havent watched anything on RUclips in months... Listened but not watched... And these aren't the type of videos you can just listen to so its been a hot minute but IM BACK BABY! Been binging all of the videos I've missed and Its like my favorite TV show just released 2 full seasons back to back... Absolute bliss!
I finished this puzzle a few days ago and I agree with what you said at the end, that things seem a bit wonky at times. Overall I liked it but it did seem a bit clunky, after viewing the official solving document on their website it all made logical sense for why you had to do something and how things were meant to be done.
Let's goooo with that hitter Chris!!
Best intro so far. Hilarious 😂
Always the best B roll and intros!!!!
Nice intro Chris ! But the castle you show, the first image, is an abbey from "Le Mont Saint-Michel" ;)
No worries, it's a very beautiful place ! If you want illustrated a castle from the Arthur's legend, you have to show "Le Château de Comper" in the forest of Paimpont in Brocéliande.
Sorry for kidding, just a french guy who knows is contry :D
NIce and cool vid as usual !
Thx
The voice over was EVERYTHING!
the work to get that intro done, mad respect man!
This is an EPIC puzzle 🏰
The best intro voiceover ever! Life is short. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Hehehe
Not because your videos are boring but your voice is so soothing that you always put me to sleep.
sarcastic self awareness/fourth wall break is the funniest
Best intro yet!!! Love it
Wow! So cool! Thank you!
An epic intro. Almost as epic as those bicycle 1st cards!
that intro though that was HELARIOUS perfect (chefs kiss)
Lmao! Best voiceover on an intro ever! ✌️❤️
The EPICNESS is like crazy EPIC!!!😂
Reminded me of the puzzle boxes on The Room games
I've just paused the video at 0:46 and gave a like because that was the best intro I've seen in months! lol
Best intro yet, well done sir
great videos these puzzles are nuts
I just solved this today so now I'm finally watching you do it! I know for the symbols you had to look at with the light, I just looked through it and tried to see the shapes. Didn't realize the light would shine through and show the shapes. My eyes hated that part, too xD I will say, the towers gave me the most trouble. The clue seemed to make so much sense until I started the puzzle, and I about lost my mind. >_< Got it done within 90 minutes...one of the two of IDventure's puzzles that took me that long (the other being the Labyrinth).
Definitely a "kitchen sink" puzzle where they really throw everything at you. I agree it could have been streamlined a bit better, but I did appreciate its ambition and thematic fortitude.
Cool Puzzle!😍
The first part of this puzzle reminds me of the axel puzzle in prince of Persia the sands of time video game. I learned the alignment system for that puzzle so I may know how to speed run the first part if the principle is the same.
I just did this one, and it's a neat puzzle, but it could use a little work. The pieces don't move really smoothly, so I ended up in trouble a few times and needed help because it turns out I had done the right thing, but pieces weren't coming apart (those puzzle pieces with the candlesticks took me FOREVER because the left torch refused to move up properly) or couldn't move smoothly (the puzzle on the bottom was really frustrating for this because it moved with the other rings but if you tried to hold one ring down the rest wouldn't move and it got stuck constantly). I liked the layers of it and it was really neat but there were some quality elements that kept it from being really fun.
That definitely was an epic intro! 👍🏾👍🏾
Love this intro! It's like the brutally honest trailer Obsidian games did for The Outer Worlds 2! 🤣
just received it yesterday !! great box thanks for this vid
I had to come back to watch after i solved mine. I didn't want any spoilers. It was fun. On to the next one.
That was a good one because of the multiple levels. Hope they can fix the construction problems.
this was your best intro Chris!
Oh wow, I couldn't tell how you had no idea for the intro.
That said, great stuff as always.
Love the puzzles you do wish I had the money to get them would love to try it out myself
The smaller version only costs less than 40 Euro, which is a bargain imo.
Best intro video ever😂😂❤
When the intro is more epic than the vikings trailer, i know this will gonna be an epic puzzle..
Epic per usual!!!!
You crushed it. It would take me days.
After all the puzzles you did, I hope you're not afraid of one day opening the Hellraiser Cube
I love your videos and puzzles
I really liked that intro such a great parody of your normal intros.
The proper way to find the positions for the chain puzzle is looking to de drawings of the sliders. There are many men doing like a rope game (2 in the first slide and 1 in the other two). This means that the first slider must be in the middle, and the other two must be move to the side of each man. Then you find the letters in the chain’s game.
Really nice video. Looks like you are having a lot of fun solving this puzzle as well.
My lingering question at the end: you say you spent an hour solving it, as in opening.
But how long does I take to, well, reassemble the thing. For trying to solve it faster, or to look for clues you now feel they 'should be there'.
Or to pass it on to a kid.
And when you reassembled it: did you found an empty space and left a surprise candy for that kid?
Now I have to watch how you finish the video. Something should come after "O.K. I solved it"
It's great puzzle Chris.
The name,,, it reminds me of the interview video " King Arthur came a lot, didn't he?" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Favorite intro ever!
best voice over b roll ever 🫶🏼
Loved this puzzle and always love your content and channels! But l, it was a PENTAGON, not a hexagon haha. Keep up the content!
That intro!! 😂😂
at 6:38, where you manage to get the template piece out.... because it was so difficult to remove I thought it had to be unlocked by another area! Then, at 18:30 the other reason I've been looking for hints. This is an amazing puzzle but that one section truly disappointed me at how difficult it was to solve: the sliders are too close together and how to look through them while sliding was an exercise in frustration! I knew it was the way to remove that key, but could not see what I needed to see!
This company always brings the hits! Affordable too :)
That was a great intro!
Can't decide what was better, the EPIC intro or the puzzle solving!
That intro though 😂
Best intro ever !!!
Yeah, I agree with the wonkiness of the wood pieces. I had the same experience. I wonder what this would be like if made out of metal. Plastic would be just about as fragile as the wood.
13:32 - deja vu. Little glitch in the matrix there.
Chris where can I find the best quality classic wooden barrel puzzle? Cheers!
Cool opening. For a moment l thought Harry Potter 😊👍😊
the best intro I watched :)
That intro though.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
hey chris, i love your videos and i have an idea. when you start your video have a timer pop up on the screen that you add in post
Hahahahahah most definitely an EPIC intro
LOL @ the intro
Awesome intro😆😆😆
Camelot- giggity 😂
Hopefully getting it back together is easier than taking it apart.
Not me "ooh"ing and "ahh"ing... lol
Sick intro!
You were shifting the puzzle when you kept flipping it cause you weren't sure you were on the correct step so yeah what you originally figured out the puzzle was tedious but other than that. The puzzle was great!
10/10 opener
i enjoyed the comedy intro more than the serious was great
I did all 5 of those. 3 I could solve in 20 min tops but 2 took me over an hour. The Nautilus and the Labyrinth Clouboxes took me long.
The Davy Jones got solved in 10 min by me
some day you gotta do the millenium puzzle
Hey Chris I love all your content I watch all your videos and I think you should try "Box One by Neil Patrick Harris"
Wow, what an amazingly badass intro
