Making Diamond Willow Charcoal

This is the first time I have ever made charcoal. I built this retort and was hoping it would work well. I can’t believe how much wood gas was in this wood. I plan on making something to be able to capture the wood gas later on.

Thanks for commenting, I hope you found it useful.. I should have shown filling it, but that is simple. Pack it as full as you can I had the sticks going up and down and as close together as I could to have as little airspace in the retort as possible. Hope your charcoal turns out perfectly!!
