Love the soft, gentile heat of a soapstone stove. Takes a little longer getting it going when cold, but lasts longer at the end of the cycle. My parents have the Hearthstone heritage 8022 with the side load door in addition to the front. That’s the cat’s meow! No campfire smell in the house. Great, honest video! Appreciate your work.

2 things. You said our wood stove was LONG. That makes me think All Nighter stove. And not to get political California is working on Banning wood stoves currently. Imagine that. They already banned 2 stroke chainsaws and other 2 stroke motors.
I love my stove too. It’s a very similar shape ❤I’ve got a cawley/ lemay 400 from 1979. She’s a beauty! Wish I could find a 600 series. Mines a bit small since I built my addition. I will keep the 602 in mind. I looked it up and it is rated to a higher sq footage than mine👍

Buckin, that's a beaut of a Woodburner. We have a Hearthstone heritage and love it long, efficient burn times. Clean that glass with some ash and newspapers. Enjoy that view! "Heartbeat of the Home."

When I load our Mansfield on hot coals, I always let it rip full throttle for around 10-15 minutes to get the chimney and firebox good and hot, flames rolling all over, activate the cat, etc... A good way to tell when it's ready to accept a low throttle is when the bottom of the baffle is completely clean looking... When there is soot "sticking" the firebox is still too cold. When starting from a "cold" stove (or just warm), I let it rip at least 25-30 minutes on high throttle to bring the chimney, firebox, and cat up to temp to prevent and cook off as many deposits from the cold start as possible. Hot clean fires keep everything clean and safe. The little tribute is such a fantastic looking stove! Very cool! I also find that I can actually fit more wood into the stove when the wood is short enough to be easily loaded and packed in along the walls tight. The long pieces are tricky!
Someday I’ll get the wife convinced on a wood stove. Great tips. Want one in the house, the garage, and in the future sun room in the back yard. Something special about wood and trees, saws, axes, just all of it together is bliss. So much to learn and enjoy. It can be your entire life…. Love it

Good morning Buckin'! This arctic blast has hit us in Kidder, Missouri and I happened to watch your video yesterday afternoon while it was -13 here. So I tried it last night and it was -17.1 this morning and the fire latest 4 hours. I needed to heat up my garage also since the house was built with plumbing in the attic entering through the garage ceiling. It worked and saved me a lot of time and sleep. I really appreciate you following the impressions that you had to create this video. Good job following your heart and feelings to benefit others like myself!

Nice video, I have a indoor wood boiler in tandem with my oil boiler to heat the baseboard water, my stove takes 28” log on the bottom and 24” at the top of the stove, I hardly use and oil, coldest we had were I am in upstate NY was -14 this past February, I can get 15 chunks in my stove, but they go straight in. I love burning wood, also have a timberline wood stove insert, good stuff burning wood, love it 🥰
Good lesson on how to load that type of stove, that's how I used to load my first one. I then switched to one which loaded front to back, straight in. Great vids brother, keep it up!!!!
Interesting loading techniques. Here in the UK we are advised by stove makers to only load maybe 50% capacity but I find the stove will not burn to max efficiency at that. Thanks for the tips. By the way - 4:38 in the morning - dude that's early - respect! Keep the vids coming - I love all the axe stuff, learned a lot about efficiency from those.

I love my small wood stove. It’s a lot of work for me to find, chop wood, stack, etc. but I love it. So warm, love the smell of wood. Very satisfying, great toning exercise. My stove is 17 “ across the front so I’ve been using 16”. Should I be using 15”?Sounds like I need to run my stove slower. I just taught my young neighbor how to run his stove. And I ENJOY watching the oil truck drive PAST my house!

2 things Buckin, 1st, I get about 10 hour burns on my stove, of course my box is significantly larger than the one you are showing here. 2nd, This video and the last one of yours I watched titled "Selling Firewood in a Pick-up Truck?, This May Help You." have by far been a tremendous joy to watch, So much of your content is entertaining yet out of reach for most of us as it takes a special breed to do what you do however....... those 2 videos "I'm sure many others" speak to the rest of us that just cut firewood to heat our homes. Keep up the great videos, I love them all. BTW, I got a Pro Mac 610 the other day, paid $200 for it running like a top, I just got the new air filters in the mail for it and I am super excited to try it out. I currently have a 24" bar on it but probably going to try for a 28" Got to watch it though as this is my first venture into a saw this size and I want to keep my legs. Prior to this my Husky 440 18" was my largest saw.

Thanks for the tips Buckin that's why I love my Vermont castings top load I can load it up to the top I start at the bottom with my 18 in pieces and 16 in on the top wood stoves are the best!!!!
My father in law wouldn't burn a piece of wood unless it had been under cover for at least 2 years, and that was in the dry California climate. His woodshed was so dry I never found an insect in the wood. I think that's a good family tradition to keep. I'm about to try throwing some small rocks in the firebox to see if I can cook some soup with wood heat. I got a big stainless steel soup pot to give it a try.
Thanks for the tips, I have a little stove too, very similar dimensions. Made here in Western Australia. Called a Jarrahdale Swagman. I have a greyhound that wakes me up during the night for a pee so there's always an opportunity to chuck another lump of wood on and get me through to the morning.

I burn all sizes of wood in my furnace , cleaning up the wood lot is the reason . I like the clean look , only branches and sawdust left behind . My old Dad was clearing land and he always brought in knots to burn , just like coal . The log rots away and the only thing that survives is the knots . He would burn them in the wood cookstove 👍🇨🇦
BBR - takes me back to when i was a kid with Dad's Vermont Castings Wood Stove - we heated the whole house for 30 years! Nothing like getting the Fire rollin - glorious in the morning going Solo with the Stove.

Heat vid buckin , I’ve got a large Taylor 450 water boiler I use to heat the house and water since thanksgiving, I’ve mentioned it before I think but I’ve been having some creosote issues , not sure if it’s the nature of the beast in the way the fan will bring it up to temp then shut itself down to Cruze or I’ve just got some moisture issues but your expertise here just gave me a new thought to think so thanks big guy 🤙🏻
Those Soapstone-Hearthstones are incredible small stoves. It's amazing how much heat and burn time you can get from them. I use black locust in the extreme dead of winter and have achieved 8-12 hour burns stoking it just right with an 18x12 size firebox.
I have a small fire box stove and for long burns I’ll rake all the coals forward and stuff a large split in back behind the coals then fill in as tight as you can. This will give you a somewhat front to back burn and leave some coals in the back the next morning.

Great video Buckin'. I know I should probably upgrade my stove to a more efficient one, but I really do love my 1982 Buck 27000. I love the built in fan that blows out the top, bottom & both sides. I live in Ohio and mainly burn Ash, Hard Maple, Hickory & Oak. I can put 16-22" logs in it but even at the lowest setting, I can only get a 5-6hr burn before I have to re-load, But I've been burning that stove for 33 years now and just hate to give it up. P.S. I think myself and 99.5% of your subscribers know your character and appreciate your wisdom, passion and your outstanding knowledge that you possess & are willing to share.Thank's Buckin'
Good Morning Buckin’ and friends! Great message as usual Buckin’! ??? With the stove being 16x 12 I guess, would you get a longer burn time by stocking the box front to back with shorter fire logs like 11” long vs. the 13-14 inches being stacked across the box?
i have a little Jotul f3cb cast iron stove. it says it can take 18 inch wood but i've learned that a 16 inch piece works better. i have a semi-circle opening of 16 inches or so you have to angle an 18 inch piece. i have smaller splits but i normally pack them in pretty good. i'll get a good 6-8 hr burn with coals. thanks for the tips...i agree learn your stove....and have a glass of water.
I welded construction from old pipes and than put it on pallets , also put pallets on sides, best wood shelter, wind comes from all sides welding inverter cost me around 150 bucks

Nice video, I have a indoor wood boiler in tandem with my oil boiler to heat the baseboard water, my stove takes 28” log on the bottom and 24” at the top of the stove, I hardly use and oil, coldest we had were I am in upstate NY was -14 this past February, I can get 15 chunks in my stove, but they go straight in. I love burning wood, also have a timberline wood stove insert, good stuff burning wood, love it 🥰

Good lesson on how to load that type of stove, that's how I used to load my first one. I then switched to one which loaded front to back, straight in. Great vids brother, keep it up!!!!
Interesting loading techniques. Here in the UK we are advised by stove makers to only load maybe 50% capacity but I find the stove will not burn to max efficiency at that. Thanks for the tips. By the way - 4:38 in the morning - dude that's early - respect! Keep the vids coming - I love all the axe stuff, learned a lot about efficiency from those.

What a great video this was so very informative and helpful as some one who has just been getting into heating my house with wood from my fireplace insert trying to get all night burns always seemed to elude me you should def make more videos on this subject.
It can be fascinating sometimes the dynamics of burning wood in a stove. Temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, the wood your burning all play a rolevin how your stove heats your house. Love hangingbout woth you Buckin. I am not unsubscribing for nothing! I ✊
I love my small wood stove. It’s a lot of work for me to find, chop wood, stack, etc. but I love it. So warm, love the smell of wood. Very satisfying, great toning exercise. My stove is 17 “ across the front so I’ve been using 16”. Should I be using 15”?Sounds like I need to run my stove slower. I just taught my young neighbor how to run his stove. And I ENJOY watching the oil truck drive PAST my house!

2 things Buckin, 1st, I get about 10 hour burns on my stove, of course my box is significantly larger than the one you are showing here. 2nd, This video and the last one of yours I watched titled "Selling Firewood in a Pick-up Truck?, This May Help You." have by far been a tremendous joy to watch, So much of your content is entertaining yet out of reach for most of us as it takes a special breed to do what you do however....... those 2 videos "I'm sure many others" speak to the rest of us that just cut firewood to heat our homes. Keep up the great videos, I love them all. BTW, I got a Pro Mac 610 the other day, paid $200 for it running like a top, I just got the new air filters in the mail for it and I am super excited to try it out. I currently have a 24" bar on it but probably going to try for a 28" Got to watch it though as this is my first venture into a saw this size and I want to keep my legs. Prior to this my Husky 440 18" was my largest saw.

Thanks for the tips Buckin that's why I love my Vermont castings top load I can load it up to the top I start at the bottom with my 18 in pieces and 16 in on the top wood stoves are the best!!!!
since watching Buckin I now cut all wood at 12" makes a difference for sure.

My father in law wouldn't burn a piece of wood unless it had been under cover for at least 2 years, and that was in the dry California climate. His woodshed was so dry I never found an insect in the wood. I think that's a good family tradition to keep. I'm about to try throwing some small rocks in the firebox to see if I can cook some soup with wood heat. I got a big stainless steel soup pot to give it a try.
Thanks for the tips, I have a little stove too, very similar dimensions. Made here in Western Australia. Called a Jarrahdale Swagman. I have a greyhound that wakes me up during the night for a pee so there's always an opportunity to chuck another lump of wood on and get me through to the morning.

Actually, there's not too many creators on YT that create the amount of love in the comments, that Buckin'BR can accomplish. He's got a gift. With a very dangerous hobby.
May God keep him and all of us safe, especially those who are learning. You have to progress in very dangerous conditions at times and absorb as much knowledge and tips from those like Billie here, in order to acquire the experience of not incorrectly reading the bush. So there's this period that you're at greater risk. We need devine help with this. That's the only way to counter luck. Hope you all know what I mean. I burn all sizes of wood in my furnace , cleaning up the wood lot is the reason . I like the clean look , only branches and sawdust left behind .
My old Dad was clearing land and he always brought in knots to burn , just like coal . The log rots away and the only thing that survives is the knots . He would burn them in the wood cookstove

BBR - takes me back to when i was a kid with Dad's Vermont Castings Wood Stove - we heated the whole house for 30 years! Nothing like getting the Fire rollin - glorious in the morning going Solo with the Stove.

Heat vid buckin , I’ve got a large Taylor 450 water boiler I use to heat the house and water since thanksgiving, I’ve mentioned it before I think but I’ve been having some creosote issues , not sure if it’s the nature of the beast in the way the fan will bring it up to temp then shut itself down to Cruze or I’ve just got some moisture issues but your expertise here just gave me a new thought to think so thanks big guy 🤙🏻
Those Soapstone-Hearthstones are incredible small stoves. It's amazing how much heat and burn time you can get from them. I use black locust in the extreme dead of winter and have achieved 8-12 hour burns stoking it just right with an 18x12 size firebox.

I have a small fire box stove and for long burns I’ll rake all the coals forward and stuff a large split in back behind the coals then fill in as tight as you can. This will give you a somewhat front to back burn and leave some coals in the back the next morning.

Great video Buckin'. I know I should probably upgrade my stove to a more efficient one, but I really do love my 1982 Buck 27000. I love the built in fan that blows out the top, bottom & both sides. I live in Ohio and mainly burn Ash, Hard Maple, Hickory & Oak. I can put 16-22" logs in it but even at the lowest setting, I can only get a 5-6hr burn before I have to re-load, But I've been burning that stove for 33 years now and just hate to give it up. P.S. I think myself and 99.5% of your subscribers know your character and appreciate your wisdom, passion and your outstanding knowledge that you possess & are willing to share.Thank's Buckin'
Good Morning Buckin’ and friends! Great message as usual Buckin’! ??? With the stove being 16x 12 I guess, would you get a longer burn time by stocking the box front to back with shorter fire logs like 11” long vs. the 13-14 inches being stacked across the box?

Get yourself a nice Vermont castings you can load thru the top and stuff it full of some nice beech and red oak. Get a solid 7hr burn with it!!

i have a little Jotul f3cb cast iron stove. it says it can take 18 inch wood but i've learned that a 16 inch piece works better. i have a semi-circle opening of 16 inches or so you have to angle an 18 inch piece. i have smaller splits but i normally pack them in pretty good. i'll get a good 6-8 hr burn with coals. thanks for the tips...i agree learn your stove....and have a glass of water.
I welded construction from old pipes and than put it on pallets , also put pallets on sides, best wood shelter, wind comes from all sides
welding inverter cost me around 150 bucks
