    I love this type of content. For me, the best investment has been the AlexLoop…. no wires in trees, no stakes in the ground, compact, 5 minute setup, 5 minute tear down.

    I did some looking and found that these are 4 ft Army Surplus Tent Pole. So google that if. you are looking for them. There are a variety of options, including a pallet for $500.

    You just reduced my cost to operate, same experience with the MFJ. The SU-17 is similar wear component. Spend $80 bucks a year on.

    I saw online that they were available in Charlottetown at Princess Auto. Since it would be a while before I could get there to pick them up I ordered online for delivery. I was surprised when I got the delivery notice that they were being shipped from Ontario. Sure enough they arrived in a couple of days and the shipping cost was less than if I drove the 45 minutes to get them. Anyway, I look forward to get POTA active soon from VY2'land. 73, Dan

    I saw these back way before I wanted to get into portable operation. I bought the flagpole from Amazon, but I picked the wrong size tire base - or so I thought! My oversized base actually fits like yours. My flagpole looks flimsy, so I may get some of those thicker poles.

      Good luck.. I love mine...the only I had is when I tried to lift too much weight with the BB7V

      @outnaboot , my use would be to hold up two or three of my hamstick dipoles so I can simply switch between them instead of stopping, take the dipole down, replacing the dipole elements, then raising the antenna again.

    • @outnaboot
      @outnaboot  4 месяца назад

      Let me know how that works..I am thinking about getting hamstick dipoles or a Buddihex or making my own beam like VA7BIX

    Nice to know! Will pick some up in Saint John this summer. Maybe wooden shims for your trailer hitch to shim it level and tight?

    • @outnaboot
      @outnaboot  4 месяца назад

      I see princessauto.com ships to the US as well. Good idea on the shims, but I'm not sure I am there long enough to worry about it. I am in and out 3 to 6 hours most of the time

    I had six of those poles in service for almost three years before one failed. they were secured to the eve of the house at 12 feet, without any guy lines for the sections above the eve. I used them to support a G5RV Jr. I live on Long Island (suburbs of New York City) so we do get weather

    • @outnaboot

      Great..how did it fail?

    • @N2YTA
      @N2YTA 4 месяца назад +2

      @@outnaboot the bottom of the fourth pole (the first pole above the anchor to the house) cracked vertically, the top tree section came down. That was after almost three years in the elements.
