    FYI viscera is a real word by itself, it basically means blood/guts/etc. So the idea of Viscera Seer is that it is using the entrails of the creature you sacrificed to divine the future (Scry) .

    I like the irony of Aristocratic noble turning into a voracious dragon. Super flaworfull both story and mechanic-wise. Also, would like to mention him as potential commander for Jund Dragons, since he is fairly cheap and, unlike other options, offers card advantage.

    For another sacrifice outlet; Ashnod's Altar lets you sacrifice a creature for two colourles mana, which is also pretty amazing if you can get a lot of tokens out to sacrifice.
    Phyrexian Altar is similar but gives you one mana of any colour instead of two colourless, but it's also more expensive. Not TERRIBLY so, but it's an $18-20 card which is quite a lot to spend on one card if you're playing casually.

    Mana Cost:

    • @Isolanporzellator
      @Isolanporzellator 5 лет назад

      While it does draw a lot of cards here, this will leave you with a hand full of cards but no mana to cast them. It is also very hard to cast on the same turn Korvold is played (9 mana), further diminishing its reliability. Better to run cards like Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Altar, Krark-Clan Ironworks or Squandered Resources that give you mana for saccing permanents and draw cards off of Korvold's trigger, which can then actually be played immediately and also fed into the sac outlets, something that's impossible with Reprocess's single-use effect.
      These can also be played on earlier turns and thus don't require you to untap with Korvold in play to be impactful. They're also just generally more useful when Korvold isn't in play.

    Viscera is the main organs and squishy bits in the torso. Viscera seer plays on that trope of using objects to read the future or talk to spirits. Like "Read the Bones". Viscera seer is seen in the art with some viscera, using it to scry.

    Skipping over Pitiless Plunderer who is Sifter but mana fixing? Especially since you can run both and while some things require creatures, the actual commander is just any permanent. It also helps against wipes as it leaves treasures equal to all the other creatures you control and doesn’t say nontoken so even your spawn and scions set it off.

    Dockside Extortionist is just insane in this. Also there's Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Altar, KCI and my favorite: Squandered Resources. Korvold turns all of these into insane draw engines, pushing the deck beyond regular graveyard/value-stuff and into combo territory.
    The card this reminds me of the most is The Gitrog Monster (which also fits nicely in a Korvold deck btw.). Imagine playing a Fetchland, cracking it for a Forest, Crop Rotation (or Elvish Reclaimer) to sac the Forest for another Fetchland and then cracking that for another land of choice. You've just drawn 3 cards for 0 (or 1) mana at instant speed. Add Crucible of Worlds/Ramunap Excavator to the list, maybe even Azusa, Oracle of Mul Daya, Exploration and things get crazy pretty quickly. All of these cards are also great on their own and help you to get Korvold out as fast as possible.
    Wasteland, Strip Mine, Lotus Vale, Lotus Field and Glacial Chasm are also pretty good since they replace themselves with Korvold's trigger. Orcish Lumberjack is hands down the best Manadork when it also draws a card for every use. Scapeshift is just insane and will easily draw 5-10 cards by itself if you search for the right lands, World Shaper and Splendid Reclamation can also bring all of your sacrificed lands back.
    Another good include are artifacts and enchantments that sac themselves. Lotus Petal, Mishra's Bauble, Urza's Bauble, Nihil Spellbomb, Tormod's Crypt, Seal of Primordium or even just Unbridled Growth all become a lot better if they draw you multiple cards.

      Isolanporzellator they said SEVERAL times there were going to be staple cards they weren’t going to mention. Because why bother. They were trying to just mention cards that weren’t obvious and would help get the deck running

    • @Isolanporzellator
      @Isolanporzellator 5 лет назад

      @@graysonchristian2668 So what? I merely pointed out good cards to include in the deck that they didn't mention (intentional or not - it doesn't matter).
      Not everyone knows every card in magic and not everyone immediately jumps to cards like Lotus Petal as an obvious include for a Korvold deck (as the inclusion rate of only 13% on EDHREC shows).
      If you already knew all of these, good for you. Now take your passive agressive bullshit and shove it where it belongs - thanks.

      @sainttrish7544 5 лет назад +2

      My play group and I tend to look down on proxies for power level reasons because a player could proxy their entire deck and have an advantage simply due to having high power level cards. I personally wouldn't mind having proxies involved if the player is either new to the game and wanting to familiarize themselves with the format, wanting to test out a brew, owns the cards, but doesn't want to swap out cards from deck to deck, or just can't financially afford the game (although I would set up restrictions.)

    • @Ceracio
      @Ceracio 5 лет назад +1

      My LGS has a policy about proxies that I quite like - you're allowed a certain number per deck, and up to a certain cost. So basically proxying 50% of your deck and / or really expensive cards is gonna be a problem, but if you're missing that one card that really makes the deck better, but is only a bulk rare that's about half the price of an individual teaspoon, then you're fine. I get that some people use proxies to test cards out in their deck before buying them, so having a cost restriction can be a problem, but let's be honest, the people who proxy moxen or Tabernacles aren't doing it "to see if it works in the deck" are they?

    • @aeontiv
      @aeontiv 5 лет назад

      @@Ceracio my group doesn't play standard, we play commander and modern. So it's usually more along the lines of "this new card came out, I'm gonna proxy it in to replace some other cards to see how it works with deck before I buy it."

    Am I the only one not super thrilled about this commander? Seems like a slightly better Vaevictus Asmadi without the control/randomness

      I'm with you man...If Korvold was a 6/6 (or even maybe 5/5) I would be keen but as a 4/4 with a sac ability it's kind of lame.

    I got a very 'Diet Prossh' vibe from this commander. How do you guys think he holds up in comparison? Is your deck worse for not running Prossh on the command zone instead?

    • @Noah-lu4ro
      @Noah-lu4ro 5 лет назад

      Prossh is the comp deck that has one consistent win con(being food chain). It is technically better but Korvold has the higher degree of power outside that insane combo and just seems more fun to play cuz your not making everyone justs it there till you steal the win with an overused combo

  • @CUATROMORCE
    @CUATROMORCE 5 лет назад

    8:29 isn't this an infinite combo with korvold? As I see it, you can just sacrifice the tokens to create new tokens, which you sacrifice over and over again until korvold has enough power to defeat the opponent in a single hit?

    The "Each play sacks three creatures" is a really poor board wipe vs decks that create a lot of tokens and such.
    calling it .5 board wipe is to generous in my mind.

      I really dpubt it because they have a specific method of introducing decks on gameknights. They always do deck techs and deck evaluations AFTER they play them in game knights. This is probably so that the decks' cards, playstyles, and goals, arent spoiled before the gameplay. They have never played a deck on gameknights that was previously discussed down to the individual cards and "STATS stats stats" of the deck.
