god, the sprite flickering with the hertz of the monitor is so accurate to life i legititmately didn't even register it at first, my brain just filled in the gaps of , "oh yeah that's how that looks on these old games" before remembering that this isn't gameplay footage lmao
How has no one mentioned accurate sprite flickering! Like, that is a thing with real NES games! That is an insane detail to include! This is why I love you guys so much, because you keep little details to remind us of the system and its limitations.
@@64Bits technically it isn't even a glitch.. it's a feature! The NES was only capable of showing an x amount of sprites. By quickly switching back and forth through sprites they were able to add more sprites in the game :D
If they released the assets that were made for the video it (a basic game) could be done in a few days. It's honestly probably harder to make an animation like this, lol.
You have no idea how much I'd pay for this to be real. You're so incredibly talented in making these things, and I can't wait to see what you make next!
Excellent work. Phase 2 Gundyr is the kind of thing that would make 5-year-old me shut the game console off and run away crying. Also, love the SFX for the running guy.
Ghost and Goblins is basically the Dark Souls of the NES, both are equally difficult, fantastic medieval environments and the fact that the protagonist ends up naked and in a loincloth is almost two drops of water 🤣
Was thinking about having him only be able to take 2 hits haha, but felt more interesting giving him more health like in Castlevania. But ending in the skeleton was still something we wanted to keep in ;)
@@gabrielgoncalves2763 Hey man, I have completed both Dark Souls and Ghost and Goblins and I have to tell you... You are 100% correct 🤣 but I still found the comparison funny, there is still something I have to say, I have reached NG++ in Dark Souls 3 and those damn crabs are still kicking my ass, thanks to Miyazaki because in Elden Ring they are easier to kill... Although there we have the Revenants.
the DS being my favorite game console of all-time and Palworld being my favorite game at the moment 🥹 love how you kept the Palworld essence while turning it into a game I definitely would had played as a kid in 2009 (mind you I’d play it TODAY if DS was still supported). keep it up!!
Sometimes I wonder if it’s easier just programming a scene like this than animating, just so the movements look authentic to player movements. Nice job.
I like how during the 2nd boss phase the background goes black, because on real hardware it'd probably be too much to render all of that + the background. That's a cool detail.
It almost feels like this could be made as a mod for Jekyll and Hyde. It has a lot of that feel that specifically J&H has. I know to some extent you were going for Ghosts and Goblins/castlevania vibes, but I think you hit it out of the park with J&H type vibes
This was inevitable, as the two games share a lot of simularities, often thought about it myself; asking the real questions now: when is it coming out?
Ah, nice choice picking 3. You start off in a cemetery after all, and you get a fully armored knight to play as. Well, that second one is part of every souls game. But I imagine the combination of the two made the choice easier!
I'd think that dying by 1 shot & 1 cliff jump hundteds of thousands of times on the 1st Castlevania,Megaman,Ghost & Goblins etc on the NES would've prepared me properly ti breeze through the Fromsoftware games.
so cool!
Thank you! :)
Ok
What are you doing here? You should actually be playing another 10 (or more) Indie Souls tittles to spot on! (Joke not joke lol)
Bro, imagine how cool the PVP would be or double Dragon two style co-op
The 1 point of health left is hilarious. Super cool project
Not just cool but SUPER cool.
...and typical Dark Souls... 😂
god, the sprite flickering with the hertz of the monitor is so accurate to life i legititmately didn't even register it at first, my brain just filled in the gaps of , "oh yeah that's how that looks on these old games" before remembering that this isn't gameplay footage lmao
The sprite flickering is top notch, but I'm especially charmed by the janky slope physics.
Glad someone noticed! Haha
"This game's awesome."
- James Rolfe
As someone who grew up on Castlevania 1-3 and Ghosts 'n Goblins/Ghouls 'n Ghosts, this is something I could watch way waaay longer than 2 minutes.
Same here this is awesome!
How has no one mentioned accurate sprite flickering! Like, that is a thing with real NES games! That is an insane detail to include!
This is why I love you guys so much, because you keep little details to remind us of the system and its limitations.
Coz it’s not accurate? Good art, tho
Just imagine... Aldia's theme, Nameless song or Friede's lullaby in 16-bits... what a dream!
or gael theme
Dayum, this is really good! Loving the little sprite flickering as well 😅
Making the NES glitches was actually a lot of fun! haha, especially the sprite fighting (flickering which sprite was shown first)
@@64Bits technically it isn't even a glitch.. it's a feature!

Yeah, I'm here for the same comment. The level of detail is AWESOME. They know the quirks of the original tech.
You guys are always the best at this 👌
Thank you Matthew!
Ayyy shez i love the dork souls series and midir moving two inches to avoid your attack is so accurate
Very impressive work with the details... the spirte flickering is amazing!
This feels so nostalgic, wish this was a real playable game! Amazing job as always guys 💜
This felt more like Castlevania than Ghouls n goblins. Awesome work, though. Very nostalgic. Especially the sprite flickering and weird slope movement
I love that people thought Ghost n Goblins is like dark souls on the nes. You guys done an amazing job.
At least I could finish the Dark Souls games :(
@@64Bits Yep have fun 😅😅😅
Ghost n Goblins was a broken, unfair game. Dark Souls difficulty is reliable and gameplay is actually very forgiving in comparison.
@@DireWilk I know but it’s the rage is what these games feel unfair, Dark Souls can beat it fair and Ghost n Goblins CAN beat it unfair.
@@DireWilk"Injusto" 😂
Awesome!! I thought it would be overhead like Zelda 1 but is really cool like this too.

hi
first
Ok
Impressive! Very nice. Love that emulated flicker when too many sprites on same scanline. :D
I love that you even got the sprite flicker in there. It's the little things that these feel so good.
Bruh, the way different segments of sprites flicker like that is so legit. Such ridiculous attention to detail.
This works so well I can almost remember playing it as a kid!
Imagine this is a actual playable game.

Yeah it's called ghosts and goblins
I'm joking ofc, but still ghost and goblins is hard as shit. Especially the remake
Oh it definitely is. Just not for us.
@@trashtrash2169make it happen
You just gotta give us a behind the scenes video!
I've seen your content for years and the variance between each "demake" is just nuts
Just uploaded a behind the scenes on the stray demake on @64bitsextra !

I loved it, specially the sound effects, congratulations for such a great demake.

Equally difficult? DS in an action RPG, you can grind souls to overlevel and become a god. Ghosts n Goblins is A LOT harder.

Dark Souls is the Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins of the PS3.
Mmh no. Clearly Ghost 'n goblin is way harder

Cool map! I wonder who made it. Good job to everyone! ❤
;) Thanks Nami!
Great job!
Could have been anyone, really.
I had a lot of fun with working on this project‼️🫶
Thanks for all your help!!
Awesome job!
Ok
I wanna play that thing right now!!!
I remember this game, It was really annoying that the a button was both jump and roll so I would always accidentally jump and die
Love the glitchy graphics
100% accurate! Get down to 1 hp for boss and get wrecked. 😅
c'est vraiment trop stylé.
this is beautiful, well done
You're telling me this was all animated holy shit
Fantastic~! Ahhh.... just would love to play a game like that, and CupSouls too ofc.
He should have greeded for that last hit lmao. Amazing work!

this is the best thing ever 😭😭😭
Thanks Bec ❤️❤️❤️😊
Now I have to get around to playing Dark Souls 3 so I can understand all the references
This is beautiful, i would pay to play this!
yeah that's how i remember my first dark souls 3 playthrough
Even the graphic jittering, this is a work of art!!!
Nice, a full game like this would be sweet
No estus Crystal Lizard + Gundyr is ballsy. I was curious how you were gonna do the archers and spearman after the bonfire, you nailed it! Love these.
i would like to play this game
tremendous chefs kiss i hoped the player would live alas
You guys kill it every time!
that is much cool!
I need this ASAP

May I be first to say PRAISE THE SUN
Yes kids - video games really used to be like that in the past!
Awesome work :)

Amazing 🎉
This makes me wanna see a new Ghosts n Goblins or Castlevania in a more DS style
Some collective of nerds needs to bring about more than a few of ur awesome ideas.
Cool man! 🤩
This is insane!
Dark souls 3 sendo de snes aumenta a dificuldade dele em 10x 💀💀
Awesome!!
Instead of Korean back-dashing we now Japanese sidescroll jump
Good idea.
If goes to steam i'll buy it
Remember play this as a small kid
coolest shit I've watched today
Let's go finally
I want to play this game ^^
This is 16 bit. Dark Souls III currently runs on 64 bit operating systems.
I like when the boss turned I to biollante
So where can I play this?
How much?
I wonder, would this gameplay style make the game easier or harder?
Sublime.
