I can't tell you how thankful I am. I tried to fix these settings for months. I used to have laggy or low-quality streams not the full experience I want to give to my viewers. With this video you showed me to have perfect streams and more! Thank you so much this is just what I was looking for.
No problem, my friend. I'm glad that you was able to get your stuff dituated. Also, let me know What your stream is and where you stream? I'll come check it out. And I hope I earned your Sub!! Thank you again For the kind words.
I have an old RTX 2080 that sounds like a dustbuster. I use it now for my streaming PC but i was thinking of picking up an Arc card to update the GPU and have AV1. Thanks for the info
Does the bitrate for AV1 change for you while recording? In my OBS I have it set CBR, but it acts more like variable bit rate depending on what's going on in the recording. If there isn't much movement it drops from 50Mbps down to like 1-10Mbps, then if there is a sudden burst of movement it can easily hit 100Mbps+ but then drops down to 50Mbps. This is causing certain recording in dark areas to appear blocky because the bitrate drops so low.
I have not had an issue with AV1 dropping bitrate during recording. I ran this video at 12000 bitrate with AV1 for the testing. For my regular gameplay recordings, I don't mess with the advanced tab. I run the recording in simple mode. Also, just make sure your Intel card, OBS, and windows are all up to date! First. Go to OBS settings. Click Advanced Settings Tab Process Priority = Above Normal Color Space = Rec 709 Color Range = Full Then Apply Recording Vids. Output Tab Simple Mode MKV file type Indistinguishable Setting And of course, AV1 encoder. PS. MKV will auto saves during recording in case you crash, lose power, etc so you will have a video saved up until that point. Or you can choose. IMO is the best. IF you're heart is set on Advanced Settings for recording. MKV file type CBR bitrate 20,000 bitrate is perfect for up to 1440p 60fps AV1 encoder "quicksync" Quality = best option. 3 keyframe 3 b frame You can even try 0 keyframe and 3 b frame Check the box for "Subjective Video Enhancements" I would personally say to use Simple with the settings above for recording. Try it out and let me know what your results are!! I hope this helps you get good recordings. Please share this video so it can maybe reach more people in need, sub, and hit that bell!! It helps the channel. I appreciate the comment!
@@mistersnowmantv I definitely updated some of my settings based on your response. Did you get a chance to check if the bitrate changes? So what I found was that if I set the scene to one that's just black with nothing else in it the bitrate on my recording drops to 26kbps. But once I change it back it goes back up to 50,000Kbps which is what I have it set to. Fragmented .MOV and Fragmented .MP4 also recover just fine from an OBS crash. The other thing I run different is the keyframe and b frame. I have them both set to 0. I do appreciate you being so informative and assisting with this!
@Cargu I did run some tests and it did in fact do the same for me as well. With both AV1 and H.264 with CBR. BUT Bitrate will fluctuate - this is a function of the encoder at work and more or less out of our hands. What you set as bitrate is a rough guideline for the encoder to work with. The encoder will adjust the bitrate as it feels is necessary to maintain a quality threshold frame by frame as it is encoding. If the current frame simple (black screen) bitrate needed can plummet. If the current frame complex (think heavy foliage in a fast fps shooter) bitrate will be increased.
@sor13 yes you can definitely stream and play on the same PC, givin that your PC can handle the workload. Like a mid CPU, 32 gig ram, ARC a770 GPU, etc.. Yes most definitely can do that!! Good luck to you.
@Wolfiegangs You can't use AV1 for streaming unless you are streaming on RUclips. Twitch, KICK, Trovo, etc. don't allow AV1 encoding yet. Twitch is working on it, but I'm not sure when it will be ready.
I'm going to play with this some but I can't even game on my PC while streaming (I've been playing on console forever and use a capture card for MOST streams). Even running OBS in safe mode and limiting games to 60fps medium settings it's like they're fighting for resources. Are you using your gpu for gaming AND streaming or are you using a two PC setup?
Sorry for the late response. I swear to God RUclips. It doesn't give me notifications like it should. I use a dual pc setup for streaming and gaming. But I did use a single pc for streaming and gaming for like a year and a half or two years. The g pu has its own encoder. And decoder for streaming and such, so it shouldn't affect. You're gaming unless you're lacking in Ram. Cpu power there's something like that. Or unless you're running a really low end graphics card, that might not be able to handle it all at one time. What is your pc specs?
@@mistersnowmantv No worries man I know how it is! Here's my specs: CPU: AMD 5700X clocked at 4.5GHz GPU: Intel ARC A770 LE 16Gb RAM: 32Gb DDR4 3000MHz OBS: Aitum Vertical: QuickSync AV1 @ 4500Kbps Main Encoder H264 @6500Kbps Replay Buffer AV1 @6500Kbps Streaming @ 1080p60 I'm running a few different plugins alongside aitum but even in safemode games and OBS are struggling. I figure my GPU is probably being hit pretty hard but I've seen others running a single pc setup with mid-range cards pretty well.
@chrono32123 I don't know if it's the culprit causing issues but I've read about Aitrum Vertical causing issues with Lag, frame drop, etc. But again not 100% sure but this is things I've read amd heard about. Your specs are nice so I don't see that being the issue. Have you tried sreaming without opening and using the Vertical plug-in!
I did run all variables, and the results were the same. I just simply used the variations that are more common that somebody would use. Since the New Arc driver update 31.0.101.5186_101.5234 released by Intel on 1-24-24 that had bug fixes, etc. There may be new settings that helped with encoding and decoding, so stay tuned!!
I am sorry for the late response. I swear youtube doesn't give me notifications. For just recording, it depends on what resolution if you're recording at 1080P. I usually run around 25 thousand bitrate, 2 keyframe, 2 b frame and best quality preset.

Does the integrated graphics in the core ultra 5 processor have AV1 codec support in OBS?

is there a reason why you are doing 1:1 for keyframe and b-frame? why not keyframe 1-2s and 3 b-frames?

What settings do you have for AV1 recordings if I may ask
I am sorry for the late response. I swear youtube doesn't give me notifications. For just recording, it depends on what resolution if you're recording at 1080P. I usually run around 25 thousand bitrate, 2 keyframe, 2 b frame and best quality preset.
I guess you can nvenc repair alsow the same way. 3 and 3 and will be better
@Ots18v2 using Nvenc, using 2 keyframe and 2 b-frame has always been the standard. You can try these settings if you wish.
2 keyframe
P6 (BETTER QUALITY) Preset
Tuning = High Quality
Multipass mode = 2 pass quarter resolution
Profile set to high
Check both look ahead and psycho visual Tuning
Max bframe = 4
(If you decide you dont like or use Look ahead option, make sure you set b frames to 2)
Let me know if this helps!
Everything ok
Of course bro!
