I found your channel when you did Everybody Wants to Rule the World (btw I have played your arrangement to an audience and its one of my favourite party tricks so thanks) but I also found this song. I genuinely think I havent heard this song since before Lockdown in March 2020 or at least a long long time. But today i was texting someone about therapy, and the full song came into my head. The guitar part, the melody later, quite a few of the lyrics, the dissonant bend. This song has really stuck in my mind for ages, and I think its something really special.

So I watched this video so much that I memorized how to play it right after I graduated High School, and kinda forgot about it after. Then in August my Dad died from a drug overdose and I just came across it for the first time since. That bridge hit me like a fucking truck. Especially the lines “why are you alive while I still breathe” and “if I could take it all back I would”. Thank you for making the only song that has helped with my Dad’s death, Cory. You have a gift and you’re using it well, man.
Almost cried, this hits so close to me. Even if it may not be the same. I lost my mother just recently and it feels a little something like this.

Can't stop listening. I don't know just what this is about in your point of view, but from the lyrics, it connects to me. I've lost a brother (mentally not physically) from drug addiction and it was the hardest block in my life. I couldn't understand why he did what he did and felt bad myself after getting mad at him and realizing he dosen't like it but it's hard to stop. I tried killing myself (due to that and other reasons) and gone through therapy. And of course, the guitar is beautiful as well. Keep playing, you make so many people like me happy.

This song resonated with me so much. Sadness and sorrow really is something else.
Sometimes you have the desire to bring back the things in the way it used to be. Whether it be about the love of your life or your family members. But of course the pain will be gone but the scars still remain and what happened already happened.
All those memories. Whether it be happy or not will be etched in your memories for as long as you live. As much as many therapist try to tell you to get over it. But will eventually happen.
Those memories will always stay regardless. Always.
