I played quite a bit in Korean version and I am definitely going staff/bow. I don't like mixing melee and range. Strongest class in Korea when I was playing was, xbow (mid range)/dagger.
NA Release HYPE! I've been POURING over your vids all day; the 'Dev Talk' from 6/21 took me from seeing T&L as a 'new mmo=easy 100 hours' to 'I got to find a GUILD so I can go HAM No-Life'ing this shizz!'
I’m ready for this game man. I play on console only and we need stuff like this so badly!!! I wish WoW would take the FF14 route so I can play on my ps5 instead of needing a computer! This is exciting, even knowing it’s P2W.
I unfortunately didn't play more than 3 hours on the KR server, so I'll go with GS/Dagger during the CBT, but it's really good to have your opinion on a new playstyle and build. I can't wait for your feedback on staff/dagger. That's one of the other builds I would have considered.
Staff/Dagger for the Fire+Poison combo with your Dagger blink skill that does bonus damage for each Fire/Poison/Curse on the target. Venom and pewpew with fire spells then blink in and finish them off. Freeze them with ice if they survive to kite back out. Rinse and repeat. Invis if things get hairy. You have two disengage resets with both DoT and burst damage. You can easily switch to an AoE focus with staff for zergs. Only thing it lacks is sustain. So, yeah, need all the evasion. But building cloth/leather grants you plenty of defense against magic. So you can trait for evasion for melee. But, yeah, that versatility and damage is balanced by the fact you're glass cannon AF! The irony is that Greatsword/Dagger is your greatest weakness. Which is what you were playing. Time to see how the other side live (read; dies). lul
Was this changed? Playing on KR right now and Dagger's Shadow Strike doesn't do bonus damage for each fire/poison/curse, not even upgraded. Nor does any other dagger skill. Not sure what I could be missing. The main synergy seems to come from the poison & crit on dagger, mainly the interaction with crit + fire bomb which allows you to get more burning stacks, which can greatly increase the damage of a few big skills.
@@keldor8302 Seems so. It's not impossible that I'm missing something, but none of the active or passive skills have an effect like that. It's still a fun and strong combo, but for different reasons.

interesting idea with sword n shield, but how it usually goes in these korean pvp mmos is that later down the line building "tanky" just doesnt do enough damage to kill anything before it gets healed, as healers get more gear. we'll have to see but I feel like sword n shield is going to be reserved for pure crowd control specs and expect to kill nothing. This may not be the case early on though.
is like that... a tank is in your front line, healers will see him attacking someone and will heal her friend... and bow and staff attacking from backline, healers barely see and dont heal.
@@jackribeiro1142 i played the most recent closed beta and didnt like the classes. as you said there is no such thing as pure crowd control tank. only dps classes and healer classes, doesnt feel like a good system, in other pvp mmo like archeage you can build FULL tank and only do crowd control and it is very useful and sought after by guilds. Is there any difference between playing Dagger as main weapon or GS as mainweapon? every guide I see is with GS as main but I want to play Daggers. Thanks! Same question for the rest of combinations, Dagger-Staff or Longbow-Staff. I read something about weapon skill tree but idk
Daggers have off hand chance, so you can strike consecutively, so you would need to see how much dps you can do in 10 seconds vs great sword out on practice dummy. If more on daggers, main daggers.
Is Greatsword/sword&shield sharing the same set of armor, and traits maybe? If you went staff/dagger, would it be entire 2 sets of armors and traits? If stats growth would be another concern too.
Crossbow/Dagger is probably the highest burst weapon combo in the game, and it has incredible AOE. The problem is, for it to be relevant, you need arch boss weapons, and T2 full traited gear. So if you intend to play it, you need to swipe, or you will be obliterated in pvp.
TBH in every MMO i played i was melee, so i will stick to it, because i do like the way how i can control the fight, so i'll mainly focus on dagger/GS as a solo content or pexing and switching to GS/SwordShield for group comp or Team activities EDIT : I would ask you if there is a difference to took Dagger in first instead of GS or it doesnt change anything ? xD when you choose "main weapon" ?
If I understand correctly, when you activate an ability from your off hand weapon, you temporarily switch to it until the ability finishes activating, the you immediately go back to your main hand. So running around, you are wielding your main. I don't think it takes any time to switch weapons. I don't know if your off hand passives apply when you are wielding your main hand, but I think so.

If both are equally powerful, I would say the bow/dagger is probably better, but, if you catch any class w/ no cool downs or escape on the staff/dagger you can get blown up in 1-2 skills.
do u think a staff wand could do well as more dps orientanted compared to ur staff dagger? i fear staff dagger for me would b too squishy, but it would suck if staff wand is not enough dmg
Staff/dagger is better in zergs because of it's AoE potential, specifically Cloak + Meteor can wipe a clump of people. Makes them really strong at punching a hole in an enemies ranks. Longbow/dagger tends to be better at skirmishing and picking off individuals because it has better single target burst The thing that stops me from playing staff/dagger is that it can be rough on mana management, although you can work around it by being in a party w/ Longbow users who have Nature's blessing. Just ask them to call out when they are using it in Discord so you can pair it w/ Inner Peace to get back a huge chunk of mana.
One thing I have heard recommended in several places is to immediately join a place holder guild, even if you don't know if you will join them long term. It seems like Mimic's Guild, Next of Kin, is pretty open to temporary members during Closed Beta, but there should be lots of place holder guilds regardless. You don't even have to group with the guildies, just generate and collect rewards for the stuff you'd be doing anyway. At least as I understand. CBT will be my first time playing.
