Which Water On/Off Stop Valve should I use?

- There are 3 different type of water shut off valves on the market. 1. Ball valve, Compression Stop Valve, and Gate Valve. I think the Ball Valve is superior for home water use.

I love compression and gate valves!! As a plumber I have replaced hundreds of them! Great for business!!
That's one good way of looking at it. What do you replace them with tho?
@@thehomefixer176 where I am the water is very hard, they seize up and stem snaps off or stays open halfway, can't be fixed.
That's why you always go with the ball valve
ball valve!!! gate valve will freeze in one spot over time. trust me I have cut many out
The hard water collects inside the valve, but this is over years. If you install a whole house filter system this shouldn't happen.

@@thehomefixer176 they work years later. I have cut many gate valves out and replaced them with ball valves.
