Hey all, I made this awhile ago when I was testing a new format for the videos, and then I never published it... Here it is anyway, have an Incredible Thanksgiving!
@@rileymerino6340 Thats true, you have much more control over the volume of each note and the dynamics, you can make seemingly unlistenable chords work in certain context
how is it that this got recommended to me AFTER i spent over twelve hours editing a video on the incredibles for my final project where i have a whole section analyzing the score? this is so good!!! i'm so mad!!!
One of the best Disney films to come out of this century so far; my mom even used it in her job as a literature teacher, and her students had to analyze the themes of the film, character development, and other things you look for when analyzing literature. But the best part about it, just like the best part about any film, was the soundtrack.
Every time I watch the movie I appreciate the score more, every time I listen to the score I appreciate the movie more. It’s an eternal cycle that I’m quite alright with
@@BrianBisetti I believe so. Wayne definitely played lead on the second one, and while they may have swapped throughout on some numbers, I've been of the mindset that Rick was lead in the original.

Ah yes my favorite tempo marking, (Slower - 120) also known as "Get Down Sexy Bitches" 😂 In all seriousness, great job on analyzing and laying out the intro to one of my favorite Disney & Pixar movies ever! Michael Giacchino's score and the amazing musicians he had assembled for this movie are just some of many favorite things about it. (I also honestly think it helped me fall in love with jazz music!) You've gained a new subscriber! Keep on keeping on fellow musician! 👍 These are some of my favorite channels on RUclips!
I LOVE this Pixar movie and the soundtrack, so nostalgic! Michael Giacchino makes a a lot of good composing masterpieces! Fun fact: He’s the one who composed the soundtrack for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story! ^^
Seeing it this way, it's so similar to pit orchestra music! Even your annotations, in the reed books for Little Shop of Horrors there are all sorts of funny directions for any exposed parts. It's cool that there are also a lot of key changes (one of the more trying I encountered was Hello Dolly, whew) despite the lack of vocalists
Man I love this so much please keep doing Incredibles stuff. Like life’s incredible again, off to work, the incredits. I like trying to orchestrate these in Finale I would love to see your analysis
Happy Thanksgiving to you too, even though we don't celebrate this in the UK. Perhaps we should? Nicely done Brad. Did you get my email about the Star Wars scores, remember we spoke on your recent live RUclips chat?
I think it was in the "I am your biggest fan" motif, Giacchino likes to alter key and sometimes notes to themes to make them sinister, sad, happy, etc.
This has nothing to do with music but I just realized that Mr. I saved Buddy’s life, and if he hadn’t, none of the events of the movie would have happened, obviously. Did Buddy know that he is only alive due to Mr I jumping on him like that? I wonder if he would have done the same things if so... Also, at the end of the movie, Mr. Incredible kills buddy by throwing a car at his jet, making him fall into the turbine. In the end, Mr. Incredible goes from saving his life to killing him.
1:43 how do you possible hear the saxes in here? is there some clearer audio where the soli is heard? or the actual conductor score has been published?
Hey all, I made this awhile ago when I was testing a new format for the videos, and then I never published it... Here it is anyway, have an Incredible Thanksgiving!
FilmScoreAnalysis could you possibly do "I'm Syndrome" or "Bob Sneaks In" from the full Incredibles soundtrack, please?
Ok
could you please make Kronos unveiled? It's one of the most interesting melodies he composed to show what was happening in the movie.
not gonna lie , i totally got distracted by the film & forgot about the analysis
Same
same
Well they buried the music in the final mix, which is stupid
Yep
same
The Incredibles score has some of the best performance directions in a piece of work ever written.
"Get Down Sexy Bitches"
"Big ass marcato"
I'm sure the creator of the video added those
@@sergiodelrioreyes7655 And you'd be wrong about that because I've actually seen the score.
@@mikebliss3153 and how's that?
3:55 he put "Slower than a Texas President" and I want to reach that level of chaotic energy in my composition.
Everyone’s mentioning “slower than a Texas president” but nothing on “Get down sexy bitches” and “Slushy and Buttery” 2:11
"slower than a Texas President"
Get down sexy bitches😂
Texas is my country
And big ass marcato
Bruh
got eem
It's a sign of a powerful film when you can just get distracted by it, even after knowing it inside and out after seeing it dozens of times.
3:24 I’m sorry but this scene is a masterclass of dialogue writing (I know I’m off topic, sorry, but had to be said🙂)
The entire "Incredibles" movie wastes almost no dialogue, which is one of the big reasons it's so great
4:32
Giaccino just threw in an Fm Maj#11 chord
Holy crap
Yeah and I saw a C major 7 #9 somewhere. Never played chords like these, why are they so weird in orchestration?
@@GrumpyStormtrooper They work so well though. I was able to play them on piano and I was thinking about how fitting they sounded.
@@GrumpyStormtrooper that’s the beauty of orchestration! It doesn’t always, but it has the potential to stretch beyond the limits of even jazz harmony

Do you think Giacchino wrote enough triplets in this sequence?
Not even close.
I guarantee there would be even more triplets if John Williams had scored it.
That's true
Composer jokes, right or what? lol
Nope.
"Big ass marcato"
Good to know I wasn't the only one who saw that. 😂😂
POV: classical musicians are seeing jazz chords for the first time
You got me
Just an animator wanting to see how scres were made
So true
These chords existed decades and decades before this in classical music, I’m sure you know lol

Yes. They get much cringier throughout it, once going as far as "sexy as a 70's porn, sexy sexy!"
Thats a direction right from the source lol
They figured noone was going to read it
Got a chance to vocal backup a movie score once. This makes me miss it so bad 😭 didn’t realize how lucky I was.

"Slower than a Texas president". Hah! As a composer, this whole video was fascinating. More, please!
I remember playing this in in 8th grade select band (an advanced band that I was in💀) and it was a TRAGIC day to be a flautist 💀
Is no one going to mention how the Incredibles theme actually sounds like its saying 'The In-cre-di-bles!'
Just like Superman theme
This is incredibly eye opening. Thank you so much!
Great analysis

Do people really write notes like this on film scores? Ugh that sounds like so much fun

Keep doing these!🔥🔥
As someone who grew up in Chicago, I have never heard anyone other than traffic reporters actually say the Dan Ryan instead of just calling it 90
At 2:36 you say that a variation of Incrediboy's theme is played later in the film. Could you tell me the exact moment? Thanks!
