- 2019 Mustang GT upgraded from Shaker pro to Bang and Olufsen speaker system. My 2019 mustang GT comes with mid-tier speaker system which has 9 speakers. I personally did not upgrade to Bang and Olufsen system.
Though most prospect buyers aren't looking for high end speaker system in a Mustang, Bang and Olufsen speaker system certainly attracts solely on brand.
We discuss over sound quality of the speaker system of my 2019 Mustang GT, is it loud enough? how is the bass? Does the music sound clear? These are some of the questions I will be answering for the speaker system of my 2019 Mustang GT.

Same set up, I was told changing the speakers out wont make a difference unless you change out the head unit too. Too costly for me. Was wondering if adding a powered subwoofer would make the difference I'm looking for.... Any thoughts? Thanks!
Yeah the head unit is pretty crappy. You may be able to get a little bit more bass from upgrading speakers but since head unit doesn’t have enough power it won’t matter. Powered sub woofer would be a better alternative without a doubt even an 8 inch one
thinking of replacing rear speakers and adding a 10" powered sub. see if that makes any difference,@@Red5oh
yea i bought a 22 gt with the b&0 9 speaker and it severely lacks i'm torn on how to make it louder but everything i've looked up always seem to be some cut and hack deal where you lose most of your bells and whistles 😒 i have learned just to live with it and move on !!
Just upgrade the exhaust and you’ll love it! Best sound system ever 😂
I have the 9 speaker system and it's a noticeable improvement over the 6 speaker (especially in bass). The B&O is a pretty good improvement over the 9 speaker system too in my experience (my brother has the B&O in his GT). I do agree that the bass needs to be improved on all Mustang stereos but once you turn it up, it gets decent. I like having all my dials in the middle but I have to turn up the bass haha. Great video!
Yeah 6 vs 9 is a decent upgrade and pretty evident. But seems like 12 speaker system are an improvement but not enough to justify the cost. Though if buying used it makes sense to get 12 speaker system. I got Corsa extreme as to satisfy me for now lol
I install a Rockford fosgate 12 sub box p500 you have juste to plug a positive wire to the battery work ready good for me!!
Did you have to do wiring separately or no? I bet the bass response is much better now
Red5oh super simple installations,you need a positive #8 wire from The battery And signal from The rear speakers,for The bass The kit include a remote I install under the dash for the level of the bass,the 12 subwoofer punch a lot, really nice whit the 9 speakers ford system,if you whant photos of my intallation give me your mails super clean!!!
I'm getting a base GT next year, and am deciding if I want the 6 or 9 speaker system. I'd immediately yank that trash out & put a Rockford Fosgate system in, but I don't want to void my bumper-to-bumper warranty in any way lol, so I'd like the factory system to at least be satisfactory in the mean time lol
I would get 6 speaker system if you plan to upgrade anyways. 9 speaker system isn't all that impressive. I have had a car with full alpine system and 9 speaker system isn't even 35% of that quality. I personally would go 6 speaker and upgrade to your liking. I wouldn't worry about warranty as they can only deny you the issues related to speakers.
Swapping speakers (as long as you don’t cut wires) does not void any warranties

I found a new one by me and it has EVERY option minus the recaros (dont want, need vent/heat seats) and the B&O system. Why would the dealership order all that tech and skip on the B&O ugh. I want to drive a new mustang every day there isn't snow on the ground... need good audio!
If I’m being honest and having listened to both system the difference isn’t much between 9 speaker vs BO to be honest. Aftermarket upgrade of speakers or adding a sub will be a better value imo. If you’re getting the GT then exhaust will keep you smiling for days

Red5Oh , as usual you covered this topic perfectly. Me personally , I would have appreciated a set of Bose speakers in the S550 myself. I to have a loud exhaust (Flowmaster Outlaws with a H) and also like a bit of background music as well when I roll out.... the car is built for performance but a little more bass out of the factory setup wouldn't have hurt either.
Yes I would’ve liked that Ford used a better sound system. My old mustang had more bass. They could’ve made base system cheap and ok sounding but if you’re getting premium or BO system you should be able to get decent quality
I wanna know if the speakers “leak” a lot from the outside? I’m wondering if that’s just my car because it’s a more budget friendly car.
Honestly it doesn’t leak much due to better sound insulation than the S197 mustang I owned. Although I have to really fully blast it since I have a V8 with Corsa exhaust. I’m glad my videos have been helpful. You can always dm me on insta if you have any questions as you make your purchase!
Do you know if the wiring is the trunk for adding the subwoofer for premium gt mustangs with the 9 speaker setup. I don’t want to pull out panels on a brand new car to wire everything. Having that harness already there will make it easier. I need a little more base than the 9 speaker provides. I will say to anyone that wants the 9 speaker the best that you can get it there is an adjustment with balance and fade. Keep the balance even then while playing some music take fade all the way to the back then begin taking it back toward center listening for a distinct increase in sound not far from full back fade. It helps with most music. Will not do much for deep bassy music however.
That’s a good question and I’m not 100% but I don’t think these come pre wired for subs. As I haven’t seen many people do these swaps for shaker pro or B&O sound systems

@@mystroh8676 sorry meant to say it’s not worth it lol. BO makes great system so I’m sure Audis is nice but for mustang it was average. I compared both regular speakers and BO and sound difference wasn’t much. Bass is lacking despite having a sub. If you find one equipped that’s fine but don’t go out of your way to get BO equipped car. You’re better off upgrading with aftermarket component if you desire great audio quality

What’s the exact difference between the 2018 9 speaker and shaker system? Is it just the sub? Because I don’t remember there being 2 shaker options for the 2018.
You’re correct the 9 speaker is the regular one and shaker system would be shaker pro which has the sub and 1 additional speaker I believe

Exhaust is all you on the boss 302. My s197 had door woofers and it sound much bassier than S550

Mine came with the B&O 12 speaker, it's not great but not horrible either. IMO put your own system in if you want quality sound that you like.
Yeah for pure sound quality it’s always better to go aftermarket. Higher quality component at fraction of the cost

@@matrix6448 you wouldn’t need to replace the head unit if you’re just replacing speakers. If you’re connecting amps and subwoofer then you’d need to update the head unit. I personally am content with what I use it for so won’t go aftermarket as I listen to exhaust more
@@Red5oh I will just stick with what I have too because if I went aftermarket I would want at least 2 amps and subwoofers, but I don't want to mess with my head unit, I like it the way it is. I'm with you, gotta love that exhaust noise lol

That 9 speaker w/ 2 amps has great quality audio sound, but those 2 amps dont hit or thump like a subwoofer would. 8/10 audio sound..... 5/10 bass sound....
Yeah exactly my thoughts. The audio quality is pretty clear and treble and mids are pretty detailed but bass is lacking for sure. Maybe I’ll add a sub in the future
My mother used to have a 2017 Ford Edge titanium which had the Sony audio system. Sony sounds better than the B & O.
Yeah I have Sony systems that Ford used to use were better. I have never personally listened to one but that seems to be the general view.
So what years have the B&O system? And does it come standard when car has 401A package?
B&O system started from 2019 model years. They are definitely better than regular 9 speaker system, but imo not significantly better to justify the price. If you truly care about audio, you can spend half of the cost of B&O system and be happy. Issue with these speaker system is lack of bass while B&O solves it a bit there's still more to be desired. You are better off getting an aftermarket amp and sub

What is a good aftermarket system?
I have tried Alpine on my previous car and was very impressed with the sound quality. Adding a subwoofer is what this car really needs

@@dylantiede8284 it was alpine sps610 with a kenwood head unit. I would check out crutchfield website as they’ve got tons of options. Hopefully you can find a system that suits your needs without breaking the bank

Yeah that’s a good point! Spotify definitely gives you more control over EQ than Ford. I’ll have to try that out to get more bass

@@Red5oh what I've tried is turning the treble and mids to the lowest and then you'll get that punch of the bass without distortions
My 2020 mustang base 301A. Stereo system is garbage. I have 9 speakers. The fronts are not bad, but the rear deck is the worst. Cheap paper cone and magnet. I am changing them soon, plus adding a 12" sub/amp. Not shaker. 1 12 kicker r comp. It was free so I am using it. Rather put my money in other performance upgrades.
Yeah rear deck is the worst. I’d like a little bass out of them! Kicker R subs are really great. You’ll definitely enjoy it. Best mod is always the exhaust lol
I swapped out every speaker in my stang and replaced them with skar speakers and sub then hooked up amplifiers to every speaker

@@Red5oh I completely agree and I had a six speaker system and now I still have a six speaker system but they are all scar audio with my sub in the back and I bet it sounds better than the Ford 9speaker premium honestly like two or three times better

The system does get pretty loud but it lacks the bass. It’s there but not thumping if that makes sense

Exactly the point, despite maxing out the bass which would normally create a very distorted sound and overpowering the mids and highs, that's not the case.

I got the same shitty speakers in my 24 ecoboost. No bass or clarity at all!. Im not one who messes or uogrades speakers at all, but for this car i have too!!! Shame on you Ford! My stock speakers from my Mazda 3 and my Toyota 86 sounded way better
Yeah the stock speakers really suck especially for a “premium upgrade” option. Bass is typically provided by rear 6x9 speakers. If you play with the fade and put everything to rear you would literally think rear speakers aren’t working at all
I HATE the B & O system in the Mustang it sounds absolute SHIT on top of that the head unit dosnt help because it dosnt have a inbuilt EQ to help brighten the bad sound .EPIC FAIL.Im in the process of having to replace the Bullshit & Orrible B&O speakers !
