Thanks for the content! For the record, Mohamed Elyounoussi was born in Morocco but his family emigrated to Norway when he was a child, he grew up in Sarpsborg, and he plays for Norway. So he doesn't fit the pattern of young African players coming to Europe to play football, he was a local lad.
The best part is, that FC Bayern Alzenau is currently playing in the Hessenliga. So even though they are located in Bavaria and are even carrying it in their name, they compete in Hassia. Greetings from Alzenau. Keep up the great work, Alfie💪
Did not expect to see a photo of the leader of the Hungarian opposition in one of your videos Alfie but you never disappoint. And your pronunciation was actually decent
4:04 to be fair, them being in Bavaria can also be used to excuse them, as both clearly use the Bavaria flag in their emblem. obviously it has become associated with Bayern Munich, but it makes sense that clubs in Bavaria would use that pattern
Well, almost - hód means beaver, mező means field, vásárhely is more like a place when you can held a fair or market (vásár is a fair, hely means place). Fair as in a large, open area one. Not really used in contemporary Hungarian though. It's a funny name, even from a Hungarian point of view :)
The middle part in the logo of both clubs from Bayern is just the flag of Bayern, the German state. To call this copying from one another goes a bit to far for me, since both clubs' logo design was: state that you are from Bavaria, put the flag of Bavaria in the middle and make a circular crest. It is just extremely hard to end up significantly more different than both clubs did.
As much as Alfie may have neglected to mention that the blue and white check is the flag of Bavaria he did show Bayern Munich’s previous club crests and demonstrate that Bayern Munich adopted that particular design after the other club had already been using it.
The shape of the badge is way too similar, if you look at any other football badge they really don't need to have the flag in it. If the flag were the only similarity it would be one thing, but it's not.
@@53rdand3rdShows They ended up high in "clubs that actually make a profit", so definitely some good words there. The badge was obviously "inspired" by Alzenau though.

I actually have a fc bayern alzenau/urf jersey from 1994, it's a adidas template shirt the same one as bayern munich at the time. It was mainly white with red stripes. (I think it's the away)
It's worth noting that the blue and white diamond pattern is the flag of Bavaria. The chances of more than one club using the pattern in their badge is pretty high as a result
Cool to see that people liked an idea so much that we even got a 2nd part. Maybe this suggestion will be similarly popular (also sounds cool to say that I had the idea for 3 videos XD). I was going to say the Pittsburgh Steelers if they weren’t in this video! Awesome inclusion! Interesting note. The Steelers are the the only NFL team that have their logo only on one side of their helmet. It’s only on the right side!
Fun Fact to FC Bayern Alzenau: Although they are from Bavaria, they don't play in Bavaria, since they are much closer to Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Mainz than to the rest of Bavaria. And another fun fact: the stadium seats in Bayern Alzenau's stadium are, in fact, old seats from Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena.
ive just worked out this channels upload schedule, every 48 hours at 9am UK time. Gonna get excited every 2 days until the much anticipated "what on earth is going on at oldham athletic" video comes out
It should be noted that the San Jose Earthquakes of MLS, before they moved into their current stadium, used to play in Santa Clara on the campus of Santa Clara University.
Bevel FC in Belgium based their entire club on Barca it seems. I was super surprised when i played against them a few years back. The same kit, badge etc.
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 269) I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored. If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
Fun fact: Bayern Alzenau do actually do not compete in the bavarian football system/pyramid. Since they are located so far in the North west of bavaria, they chose toa ssociate with the foodball federation of Hesse rather. Mainly because all of the clubs there in the Oberliga or Regionalliga are actually way closer than their counterparts in Bavaria making travel a lot easier historically and also for more intense local rivalries.
I fully agree with all the listed respective clubs which borrowed the other respective clubs' respective badges but could not believe that your beloved Hull City borrowed the badge from a Hungarian based club, good friend!!!:-D
Glad for your (albeit quick) personal take on the Hull situation, Alfie. If this new owner is even halfway decent, I fear we won't be getting further instalments of the "what on earth is going on at Hull City?" videos; they'll be too well-run and thus be disqualified. How will I know how you're feeling about Hull, then??
Last season, when Everton still had James Rodriguez, there was a being the scenes video at the club, and one of the questions was "who's the most skilful player" and Iwobi was by far the most common answer. So he's got the skills. I assume he just hasn't the brain.
I do want to say, that the pattern at the centre of the two Bayern clubs is just the regional flag of Bavaria. I do agree that the shape and way of doing it is stolen, just wanted to point out that two bavarian clubs that flaunt their bavarianness in their name most likely would have that pattern in their badge :D
Congrats, you almost pronounced Hódmezővásárhely correctly :D You just need to use a simple Z (like in zoom) instead of what you did. It sounded more like the Hungarian voicing of the letter (!) ZS (which sounds almost like the s in "measure").
I feel obligated to point out that Santa Clara University is a power in American women’s soccer (football). Among others they have produced Brandi Chastain, who scored the iconic penalty to secure the US victory in the 1999 WWC final. I am comfortable characterizing them as a brilliant association football team, though perhaps not a club. American college soccer (football) is weird.
Fun fact, SK Yugoslavia was originally founded as SK Great Serbia and instead of red and white shield they had a green and white shield on the crest, looking even more like a Rapid rip off :)
Many might seem stolen, some inspired and some just look similar on coincidence. There's just so much individual designs in the world and it's nigh impossible to make something unique.
Oh, it's easy to do something unique, you have to purposely go against any designer rules you know making the design look about as good as a certain de Pfaffel is at being a PM, but still... at least it's unique.
Bayern and Bayern both use the national flag of Bayern (Bavaria) that's why they are the same. The Leverkusen Logo, the Braunschweig Logo and one of the Fortune Düsseldorf logos all contain the Red Lion with four visible claws and a split tail, not because they stole from each other but because all three cities were at one point ruled by descendants of Henry the Lion and Mathilda Plantagenet. They used the English Plantagenet Lion and had it standing up and with a split tail. At least 100 cities in Central Europe have the Lion on the Logo. My hometown Düsseldorf has the Lion holding an anchor because of the Haber on the river Rhine. I once meet a French Guy in Lima and was really irritated that he wore a shirt with the Logo of my hometown, till he told me that it was the Logo of his hometown somewhere close to Strasbourg.
That's really odd. London is literally teeming with clubs, but thank goodness we don't see a dozen professional teams with the same white dragons flanking a shield and/or crest on every badge! The Bayern badge is actually the flag of Bavaria known in English as the lozenge. It’s a staple colour(s) and design used on many products from that region, which makes it very distinctive.
The Ludogorets Razgrad badge was changed a few years ago and looks suspiciously similar to the current one of Sporting CP. If you ever make a part 3 of this, it's worth checking out.
For some reason, in my head canon, Atalanta and Bournemouth's badges seem real similar until I actually look at them side by side. They are not similar at all...
So. I see that the design ideas of the Sydney and Sarpsborg logos are the same. But if that's similar enough to threaten legal action, I think that's ridiculous
