Love the "landing attempts on the sun station" montage! To answer your question at 15:00... the sun's gravity is too strong for your ship to break free from with brute force. It is only when you are moving sideways with respect to the sun that you avoid falling into the sun - by keeping that sideways velocity, you are falling *around* the sun instead of *into* it. In other words - you need to be orbiting the sun to avoid falling into it! If you orbit in the same direction as the sun station is orbiting, you might have better luck!
This is why you are good at videogames...and also why some people dont get that videogames are good lol. You are getting to right location, and wish the autopilot was there to match velocity....but you need to manually match velocity with the sunstation. Bonus video where you do it! Good call on supernova impacting sunstation. And lets all thank the Nomai for setting up a warp station to access, even though one of them enjoyed calculating the landing approach to a spot in orbit around a stellar body.
Great episode! Love the montage haha. It IS possible (just difficult) to land on the Sun Station. I was able to do it on my playthrough but as soon as I exited my ship, I messed up and flew right into the sun 😅
Landing on the Sun Station is arguably the hardest achievement to get in the base game. There is a method to the madness though, you need to follow the same orbit as the station (including the direction) then start landing once it's catching up on you (because it rotates faster than you). It's easier said than done, but in the end it's good practice if you want to learn how to master piloting the ship manually. The gravity pull makes it quite hard to stay close enough to land safely, but with a bit of practice it's actually doable. Don't give up! As much as we love to troll and see players theorize, we also love these moments of pure skills.
Congrats on getting to the Sun Station, one of my favorite locations in the game. The music, the visuals, the story parts.... so cool. Interestingly, according to how it seems the Nomai text is written, the ordering of the conversation on the scroll wall would be as follows: Pye: "Mission: Science compels us to explode the sun!" Idaea: "Can't we change this? I don't enjoy working in view of such a morbid mission statement." Pye: "But it's accurate. We're going to create a supernova for the purpose of scientific progress. That's our mission." Idaea: "Our mission is to decide if such an irresponsible feat is even possible." Idaea: "Here's a better one. Mission: Determine if it's possible to prompt the sun to explode." Pye: "You lack a sense of humor." Idaea: "At least I don't lack a sense of ethics!" Pye: "Kindly refrain from going supernova on me before the sun does, Idaea." (Also, the body on the bench, holding the projection stone and staring into the Sun, is almost t certainly Idaea, as Pye was part of crew that went to the Interloper.)
Welp I typed out a whole comment and RUclips ate it... here we go again from what I can remember... If you don't try and fail to land on the Sun Station a bunch of times, can you even call yourself an Outer Wilds player? 😂 And you figured out the warp so quick! Let's freaking go! The Sun Station is such a stellar (pun intended) moment in the game. I love it so much.
The portion of my comment that RUclips may have taken issue with was me trying to link to another video, perhaps. Although I don't know why they would have a problem with a link to their own website. Anyway, I'll try this part again, too... If you have any interest, I thought you might enjoy watching lil indigestion's attempts with the Sun Station. And I don't mean landing on it. I mean the spacewalk portion, once you've already warped there. This is not a part that most people have trouble with, but, for some reason, Ryan couldn't do this part to save his life. He died so many times. It was wild to watch lol. So nice job getting it done much quicker! 😂 For obvious reasons, I don't recommend going over to his playthrough videos at this point. But you can see a small montage of a few of his deaths in the supercut. The link is here: ruclips.net/video/iUxFhqWAsDM/видео.html - you'll want to start at 2:40:10 and end at 2:41:13. If you watch only between those timestamps and (of course) avoid reading comments, I promise you won't get spoiled for anything whatsoever.
How is it so hard to land on the Sun Station? It's not rocket science... Oh, wait, it kinda is! Great episode, love watching people trying to manually land there!

Hey everyone! I had some fun editing this one, I hope you enjoy it

9:48 Journey before destination indeed! Speaking the words won't help much here sadly ;)

You were definitely getting closer to figuring out the solution!
15:11 The answer is "gravity".
Can see the effort you put into editing this one! Gold star man, it was hilarious 😆
Especially 11:36 lmao, farewell sweet prince o7

Dang at least you landed on it haha
Man, your montages and and cheeky expiditions are always so nicely done!

Great episode, love watching people trying to manually land there!
