Quick fact: It can only be defeated AFTER running from the first encounter. It can use its repair skill ONLY 5 TIMES. After that, it will no longer repair after damaging it 20% of its HP.
In the demo, there was no way to kill X-ATM. However, the final version only limits the self repair to 5 times once you battle him in the bridge. Given machine's weakness to lightning attacks, having Quezacotl with the Boost ability will amplify his damage. one of his fully charged blasts will do more than enough to bring it down to the repair state, which will heal all damage inflicted to it one it finishes. Double spell also works to cast two spells at once, Giving X twice the dosage of lightning attacks to deal with. With his 5 self-repairs, and his base health, X-ATM in total has 20,000 HP to deal with, which is about 10 Quezacotl summons to bring it down if you get max boost amplifiers.
believe it or not. this game has so many mysteries.. i had a Lion Hear gunblade. It wasnt the blue one. Believe it or not, I had a Monthly Issue Weapon LAST eddition. and it was the MODERN LionHeart Gunblade. The first one had the BLUE Cold looking Gun Blade. So yeah.. Things you do in the games get you different thing. Like Rinoa. If you take her to Balamb Guarden in disc 2. You get a movies scene of her on the deck. If u leave her at the desert. u dont see that scene.
So let me get this straight, this guy has an actual life line of HP that carries over into subsequent fights, so in other words, when you replinish that FULL ammount, regardless if he gets and heals him self, he will eventually be defeated in this manner?
I just use both thumbs to mash a button. I like shake the controller the make both my thumbs alternately mashed the button. It mashes fast with little effort.
@DaZn333 first you have to have your gf's learn the "boost" ability then when summoning a gf hold select and you'll see the square button prompt. the more the number goes up = the more damage a summon does
Its weird as somethign about FF at times seems akin to somethign else as Squal is term for some form of hurricane...and at the start of the game a lightening strike and then like some god throws him a sword....alongside the image of the flower garden and waves...but not just any sword - a gun blade, and in the story (i think) gun blade specialist are sought after...

I've killed him in the scene after you fight him outside the Com. Tower. It took me forever and a half down to 4-5 minutes but I still got him. It sucks that when he heals he heals his full hp back even though it's only got 5.5k

Interesting, though I'd like to see your stats on Zell/Selph... I'm playing FFVIII again after so many years and since I've seen so many people kill this thing, I've always wanted to do it. I did it last night with Squall Elem-Atk Thundara 100 stock,Zell, double Thundara and Selphie supporting with protect and cure. I got the Thundaras from carding Buel's in Fire Cavarn which mod into Magic Stones. was quicker than looking for Coral fragments or trying to grab as many cockatrice cards as I could. All around level 12ish. Alas I forgot to set which skill I wanted my GFs to learn so they ended up learning SumMag so I have to start over and now for some bizarre reason I can't do it. Irritating me like mad. So I figured looking for another style of beating him. Interesting you're doing it with simply thunder, though your thunders are doing the same amount of damage as my Squall's atk and Zell's Thundara.

I was like "oh shit" not sure if I was gonna make it. I do agree, it's better not to beat him just to see quisits unleash that 50 cal on it! I learned that no one ever has seem to clarify that you must beat it when it's down ( deplete it's HP before it repairs itself! )

I think the bridge is just where evading it is at it's hardest. Since escaping reduces the SEED exam score, that's where many people kill it. Bothersome, as time-wasting G-Soldier fights then start happening.

You have to junction to your magic stat and work really quickly during its repair cycle, because it regains full HP as soon as it gets back up!

Yeah first encounter i take from him like 360K hp until time run out even he has 5K so first encounter you cant defeat him at all.

I think you mean the GF power "Boost". When you have that you hold select during the summon and you can push square to make their attacks stronger.

Learnable ability from the GF's called "Boost" when using a gf, hold the select button to remove the hud and it will appear.
Does the cutscene of them getting into the boat change then?

You just cast the magic spell Double on yourself. I think you can first draw Double from the boss before this one.
