- We received a DM about a Banh Mi spot that could use our help. So we stopped in and asked if we could make them a video.

This guy is the embodiment of the American dream to me. A honest, decent, kind and hard working man that cares for his community and his customers and wants to make an honest living.
It’s nothing short of criminal that he’s struggling to stay afloat while big corporations get subsidies and tax breaks.
Yapper
You're so close to understanding that the "american dream" is really just a nightmare and your country is a cult
The way he showed the couple's pictures like they were his children and he was proud of them 😭

Hell yea they got many spots in Oakland ca❤️
Except where the culture destroys them and is left with nothing right? Seems they only a byproduct at best @@righteouseats
@@righteouseatswhy do you talk like that? Be yourself.
@@joshuataylor3550What are you on about? That's how he speaks. He was raised in New York so of course he's going to have a New York accent. Don't be ignorant.
I’m a Vietnamese and I can tell straight away how precious that place is. I can tell just from the vibe and the way the place is. Thank you for having supported the business.
These small businesses are worth saving.
100%?If not we don’t, who will? 😢
once they are gone, blackrock and all the big boys will control everything
Always
Government laws and regulations will slowly destroy all mom and pop businesses.
@@padraig5335what laws and regulations? This is a product of the exact opposite. Rampant monopolies and conglomerates are suffocating small businesses.
For every local coffee shop there is 10,000 Starbucks.
This dude sound like he possessed by Method Man 😂😂😂 good video all around
I would bet my Toyota corolla that he listens to wu tang regularly
Nobody taking that bet😂
I was gonna say Hulu RZA 😂 I fw him tho

So many older Chinatown establishments are closing. It’s just unfortunate as the people who used to live there have slowly moved away. Relying on weekend business and foot traffic just doesn’t cut it for them with their increasing rents.
We need to support these places actually and inexpensive and better then most spots🙏
I was on the Lower East Side I'm NYC a few months ago. Storefronts after storefronts are closed and shuttered. So sad.
@@R.Herman-u8u I know what you mean. I go back to Chinatown to support my barber. Every time I go, I would see more shops closed. Even the stores in the more centralized Chinatown areas too now. Its only going to get worse with the high congestion zone pricing thats coming. Downtown Chinatown might become a tourist only location.
@@jeazy1878You know, there some conspiracy theories about a "planned" pandemic to drive certain ppl out of certain areas that are considered high market real estates so big company can swoop in to "save" an area by buying it at below market values since everyone left to re-develop. Most of it floated around Hawaii and San Fran but the idea kinda applies to NY too. They mainly talked about homeless issues and how they intentionally let them take over an area to drive ppl and tenants out so ppl can buy the area for a lower price -and then kick all the vagrants out to basically gentrify an area to drive the market back up.
@@jeazy1878 Besides Wo Hops, nothing is left.
That man behind the register looks so kind. I just wanna give him a hug. I wish this was close to me because I would love to try it
Shoutout to that couple for taking their time and sending cards over. It’s the little things in this life we’re experiencing together that connects us
Unexpectedly, I’ve now cried bc of Banh Mi twice
... what was the first time?
😊👍🏾
Must have been an amazing sandwich the first time
Don't leave us hanging homey 😂
What happened the first time?
I’ve been going there for 15 years! One of my favorite places on earth! And always get the pork with extra cucumbers 🥒 💕💕💕so happy that your showing love ❤️
Bro this is my fav banh mi spot in LES. Thank you for showing them here
It was our pleasure. Honored we could use our platform to highlight them.
Thank for using your platform to support the community. People like you change lives. Keep being amazing
I wasn't trying to cry over a youtube short rn ❤

This is what social media was made for. Saving businesses like this, and drawing more attention to positive things.
i hope he gets more customers and stays open, seems like a lovely man and that sandwich looked really good.
Nice work putting the address at the beginning and the end of the video.
Maybe at the start of the caption, too? I used to work in marketing & have done a billion studies with Nielsen studies on where people's eyes focus when watching a screen. Bottom left hand corner (where the caption is) gets the shortest glance..
It's why we also tend to avoid long comments 😉 See what I did there?
But this place looks legit..that bahn mi was righteous!
Thanks for the tip!! 😉
SO WHERE IS THE ADDRESS 😂🤣😂😵💫😳

The appreciation that couple has for this man and his business is one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen in a minute 🥺
I was recently in Vietnam and it does not surprise me that this man even kept a picture of the couple, the vietnamese people are some of the nicest and kindhearted people in the world!!!
Hope the business does well!!!
I grew up in Siagon, Vietnam... my stepfather is Vietnamese, and he took his Airforce training here in the US. THE BEST YEARS of my life was in Vietnam, that's home to this displaced wht American little boy... I'm not little anymore, and O sure do miss you dad, come home soon.
Love Always...
Asian people give so much to the world and to communities. people would be nothing without us!!
HAHAH!!!
His try-hard gansta voice is hilarious!
I’m dying bro
He was raised in New York, so obviously he's going to have a New York accent. Don't be ignorant.
@Ty-dk2sj Yup, a try-hard NY gansta accent.
Absolutely hilarious!
@@dampaul13 It's not a gangster accent, it's a completely normal NY accent. It's not like he was in his room practicing his accent for hours, he's had it all his life. You're just a very ignorant person bullying a man trying to support a small business.
I LOVE this restaurant! Please go visit them. I live in California now and miss this gem in NYC. I have a great picture of my parents in in front of their restaurant eating bahn mi 15 years ago.
Reminds me of my local ramen cart guy , always cheerful even when things weren’t going well for him until he was gone
Ohh no 😮
People appreciate you helping others. 🙌🏼
Nothing is better than a Banh mi I've been eating them since I was a kid I've been very lucky for my diverse heritage
I want to see these types of businesses around for my lifetime. I hope everyone continues to support them so they never die
Just the dudes smile, you can tell he loves his business.
Bahn mi sandwiches are amazing! I live around the corner from a shop, so glad I found out about them.
This is probably one of the most wholesome videos I've seen in a long time. Helping out a local spot in tough times. You're like Guy Fieri!!!!!
Yo dat owner be like, is dat yo real accent🤣🤣✊🏾
Definitely aint
One never knows - depends on where and how he grew up.
He is trying too be cool
Right! Cuz he's being a bit extra with it🙄
🤣 fosho
these are the types of shops we gotta be supporting, it’s been tough on asian people for the last few years with all this covid shit but man i still go to my local spots and grab food when i can, they’ve been here for a long time and i don’t want those recipes goin anywhere but inside my belly.
Yo, dawg, cool accent and speech pattern yo.
Lol. I hate it

Do your thing Internet. Go buy a sandwich from this wonderful guy.
Hard workers are hard to come by nowadays. These folks deserve it all! May God bless your family
This is a great duty you are doing!
These businesses and the beautiful people who own and operate them deserve it!
Good luck and thank you
There is just no way this is bros real voice 😂😂
These really be the businesses keeping NY afloat, these small businesses is what communities rely on
Damn that was powerful. Let’s support him
Small shops are like family overtime, very personable and become family for sure.
Local business is the best to support your community
Never seen this before but I'll be over there Friday to see what it's hitting for and show support
How was it?
Been going there for over 10 years. He's fricken great! Always greets me like a friend. I havent been in a while, time to stop back over. Their coffee is great too.
Wut the fuq? Dude got an identity crisis or something..
This dude acts like he was bitten by Steven Segal one fateful night.
Look at that generous serve of pickle in that banh mi! Good luck to all the little businesses. They are wonderful!
Damn. I’ve been really frugal as a graduate student but sometimes it’s worth treating myself and investing a bit in my community. Unexpected tears
Those postcards are some of the reasons why the owner kept his best keeping the business alive. Support local small businesses and they'll love you back like no other commercial business does
Dude your accent hahhaha 😂😂😂
omg i love bahn mi!! if only i lived close to them i would be buying a lot! i'm so glad you showed this to us and especially to anyone who are closer there who can visit. i wish them all the best and i hope it stays up there for years and years to come ❤
Whose voice did this guy steal?? 😂
Support small and local business always.
When you spend at local business that money helps local economies & local families more than ANY corporate store.
I used to work at the Gamestop that used to be a few blocks down (its shut down since then) on my lunch breaks I would go in here and order a sandwich for myself and eat before I had to go back in. The food was definitely worth it always. After seeing this I have to make sure to visit this week.
Let us know if they're still open and your favorite meal. This is a bucket list for me.
Restaurants are a charity. It’s survival of the fittest but good on you for trying to help them.
That banh mi looked like Art, a master piece.....proper! 💯
Thank you for supporting locals😌
The couple story is so precious 😭🥹🫶
"I did a good job up to now". I felt that.

Great people, great story, great Bahn-mi... get to this palce folks!
Def going to stop in here and leave a review! Thank you for showing this restaurant!
I've been eating their bahn mi for course to 20 years!! It's a NYC icon and a must go for locals and tourists alike!
When he started saying his order all I heard in my head was the iconic big smokes order scene where he's saying "I'll have two numba 9's a numba 9 large a numba 6 with extra dip..."
Looks like a great dude. Hope things look up for him
You are still doing a good job, hang in there!
I love Banh mi. I would be a die hard supporter of that shop no doubt.
These are my favorite types of spots. That banh mi looks fire too
Blessings all around!
Don’t matter where in the world, I’m always willing to support a fellow Viet in need. Omw in December

that business is his AMERICAN DREAM.
I was not expecting his voice to sound like that lmao
Damn dude!!! Yo voice is EVERYTHING! You could get it for sho😊

Help keep these types of establishments alive. THIS is the American Dream people work towards. Support however much you can, even if it's just once a month for a meal or a beverage.
A place that joined together a couple can't go down!!
I never thought of how working from home hurts these businesses, I feel responsible!
Bahn mi is the king of sandies. I support all places that make it.
Got to support our locals / mom & pop shops
The voice .. Beautiful
He has a nice voice 😍
Omg I’ve been trying to find a good banh mi place in the city! Tysm for the rec!!!
Always shop small, these people drive the souls of our cities
I thought i was about to hear "can i get a number 9 a number 9 largeeeee" looool
That looks incredibly generous & delicious. I hope business picks up for these lovely people. 🤞
I just had it yesterday and it was legit. There was another banh mi shop a block away in a main street (seems to be popular) but this had far better bread, meats were flavorful, and pickled veggies were just right. Ended up going back for more on the same day.
Vietnamese has slowly become my favorite east asian cuisine. Bun bo hue, banh canh cua, banh mi, all the fragrant soups and weird drinks. Their use of fish sauce instead of soy sauce, even just home meals with eggs, rice, and tofu i love. Vietnamese food is so great and I wish it had a better grasp on the American pallet.
East Asian?! Lol
Places like this have the best food. I cant eat at most of em but when they have something i can eat i go crazy
I hope they get alot of business. Thank you for helping them out. You are a good egg! That Bahn mi looks fire 🔥🔥🔥🥖🥖🥖
I love Vietnamese food, if I was in the area I’d totally stop by. I really wish for their success!
Hope he makes it through all this bs
This is my go to bahn mi place in the city. The iced coffee is also a favorite. The owners are such sweet people. I hope your post helps send more people their way!
i dont know why im crying but when he showed the picture of the couple i just lost it
I swear when this mf started ordering, I was having flashbacks of Big Smoke from GTA San Andreas.
