  • In this video we continue the adventures on our A727 build by rebuilding the hydraulic pump. We'll do a little light machining to improve oil flow and learn the right (and wrong!) way to install the pump bushing.

    I appreciate you including some of the hardships associated with building our cars, the crushed bushing, the struggle with the spring clip ect are not only hilarious, but absolutely real. I steer clear of vids that make any complicated process look easy and flawless Great vid and thank you!

      Yeah man, I appreciate it very much too. I'm sure it's much harder to do many of those things while trying to get the best camera angle for us to see.

    Really like your videos on the a727. Clear and nicely paced. One of the best ones out there, please keep them going!

    I've assembled the two pieces on a torque converter to make sure that the pump gears line up.

    Have you heard about using a TH350 front pump bushing? Also your videos have helped out tremendously, so thank you

    The video should help me with fixing my transmission, on one the part at 1:18 has those 2 dogs? Torn off (torque converter wasn't on properly and it never drove) have one that has that part so make one from the 2 and hopefully the transmission works when fixed

      I may have a spare pump and bushing in the garage. I'll take a look. Not going to lie, it's a bit of a pain the change.

    So I've got the pump apart and there's a bushing in the reaction shaft, would you replace it even though it's not worn?
    Thanks.

    • @YoshimoshiGarage
      @YoshimoshiGarage  7 месяцев назад

      If it's not worn I'd leave it. The chance of messing it up is higher than not messing with it

      @@YoshimoshiGarage thanks for the reply.
      I just managed to remove the pump bushing where the gear & rotor is.
      Installed the bushing fine, no problem.
      But I screwed up staking it into the pump bore, time to try again!

    Can the pump be removed without taking the rest apart?

    Are those scoring marks on the stator support fine? They don’t look factory mine have the same marks but would that cause any problems?

      You mean the ones on the face seen at 11:58? They're fine.

    My inner cog with the dogs on it, has a step down then bevel on one side and just a bevel on the other. I noticed it after I cleaned it up and do not know which way goes down. Can you help? I recall in another video that it makes a difference. I notice your is the same on both sides.

    • @YoshimoshiGarage
      @YoshimoshiGarage  2 года назад +1

      The bevel goes toward the outside of the transmission to help get the converter in a little easier.

    Yoshimoshi.....are those stainless sealing rings on the back of that pump stator?

    • @YoshimoshiGarage
      @YoshimoshiGarage  2 года назад +1

      Not sure if they're stainless but definitely steel

    If inner tabs are broken off do you need to replace the complete pump or just the gears?

    • @YoshimoshiGarage
      @YoshimoshiGarage  2 года назад +1

      Just the gears as long as the housing isn't damaged and the clearances are still good.

    why would you want to speed up the front clutch apply, I guess you think chirping 2-3 is a good thing.... can you say bind and 2-3 overlap?🤣
