Explaining A727 Torqueflight Tailshaft Differences

The Torqueflight 727 didn't always come with the long tail shaft, and if you have a short shaft, there are some things you need to know....

Yes, the description doesn't mention mid-70's A727's with a bolt-on yoke, but this is the right one.

What gets me is why no one has made an aftermarket short shaft, that has a short output shaft and and aftermarket housing, but make it a slip yoke instead of fixed. I've seen enough 727s grenade the tail shaft section. It might have been other things, but guaranteed that long shaft contributed to the problem.

I may be potentially swapping a 440 big block into my IH Scout/Travelall. It has a freshly rebuilt short shaft truck Torqueflite trans. Unfortunately, the bellhousing does not match chrysler. The 440 comes with a long tail trans. Is it possible to switch them out? Any videos about swapping them?

It's fairly easy to swap the tailshafts.

I wonder if it would be worth having someone turn the shaf down rather than alter the bearing?

it still wouldn’t fit over the yoke splines, can’t really turn those down lol
