I was looking over "basketball reference" and the salary caps that each team has. Most of the top teams that are in the playoffs are at $170 to $190 million, but we're here quibbling over staying under $150 million.......where we will let a fan favorite player in Malik Monk go. I know the luxury tax and all, but man, it looks like if you want to make it into the show.....you gotta spend the money. It's obvious to me a team must have 2 absolute studs (maybe Fox and Sabonis are almost there), and one or two borderline studs (Monk and Murray) to have a fighting chance to make it in the playoffs. If you don't spend the money, then this is really unfair in terms of talent and how the league and refs treat you game to game. IDK

Your right. Vivek hasn’t proven the willingness to spend to build a winner yet. But with this Monk situation it’s not that they don’t want to pay him, they can’t pay him because they only have his early bird rights. The max they can offer him is 4 years $78m but that might not be enough.

It's not they can't afford monk it's that they signed him 2 years around 17 mill so this contract they can only sign him 175 percent more which comes to 17.5 mil so their not allowed to pay him more

@@justinshumate6232A lot of fans have no idea how to salary cap and the collective bargaining agreement works. Trading for a player and matching salaries is a lot different than signing a player, especially when you have no cap space and only working with a players bird rights. In Malik’s case, early bird rights.
