Because all of the host are lame as hell, just look at how this host can't even bring up a topic. They don't have the credentials of Ernie to run a show. Kenny, Chuck, and Shaq have chemistry. Even when someone subs in for the 3 the show still runs well.
Gil act like TNT is cancelling them, TNT is losing their basketball contract, therefore there will not be any basketball on TNT to cover. That show is way more popular than any basketball podcast out.

There’s still a place for Inside the NBA. Podcasts can’t replace that live coverage during and right after the game when millions are already tuned in.
Exactly especially because these podcasts don't want to pay the millions to NBA so they can play the highlights on their podcast. The only person who actually plays game footage is Pat McAfee but he said he's paying over 5 million two NFL films for the rights to play their videos. That's why Gil's arena have to show the highlights on that video from a distance so they won't get copyright infringement

I am kinda confused on Gil’s point. I don’t see how Inside the NBA and Gil’s Arena/podcasts is related. Inside the NBA is a pre and post show around the games of that night. They may touch on certain things that is being said in the basketball world but it’s not what they are built around. Gils arena is more narrative driven based on games, trades, tweets, basketball history and other content creators. If Ernie decides to leave TNT and sign on with NBC and the others join him, they will still have a show. It has nothing to do with being “behind the times”.
He's sometimes just full of shit and confuses his opinion with actual facts. Inside The NBA is probably the best sports show around and plenty of other networks try and fail to recreate it's vibe.

One of the big problems that you see with new media is that they have absolutely no respect for anything before then, when you look at the production values and execution of a show like inside the NBA and just about every podcast, there’s a major difference. Even though I like the players podcast, they can be inconsistent and might not be around that long because you already see stuff falling off.

Gil podcasts have NOTHING to do with Inside the NBA potentially getting cancelled. NBC has bid $2.5B for the rights to the NBA and unless TNT tops that they will lose their NBA deal which means Inside will get cancelled by default. There’s not a single sports podcast that’s more popular than Inside the NBA including this one
