Hi thanks for the comment! With the double gear mod the torque to the wheels is immense! I was trying to figure out why the tank eventually won and I reckon it could be due to the rubber studs getting warmer due to friction and giving it more grip? The Batteries were still good though, freshly charged 2400 mah which last for hours :) If the 42099 weighed more it would be hard to beat but against some of my MOCs weighing twice as much it’s a tough ask. It’s a great model though 😀
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines i modded mine to have softer suspension but with more dampening and made a rear box cover for a winch motor and it can pull my desk chair wich doesn't have wheels
In my opinion, these tests were not too fair, because vehicles with lego poles have worse grip on flat panels than those with rubber wheels that move more easily on the panels.
Hi, I keep testing different surfaces as I want a bit of slip so I don’t destroy the diffs or cogs. In my 3rd video I made it grippier and next time I will try some thinner carpet😀 At the end of the day though the tracked vehicle won😉
You should tie two wires to either side of the vehicles to keep them straight, in the last match the scooper lost because it was pulled on a diagonal, if it stayed straight it might’ve won. The other crawler had an advantage since it was being pulled by the sides and not just by the middle.
Hey there I agree! This was in the early stages and I was still learning! Since then I used two wires to keep it level! The big digger is currently winning the winner stays on series 😀
Hey thanks Dylan! I bought my first set since I was 11 last December so that’s 25 years apart for me! Good luck, btw it took awhile to get used to the new parts at first for me but you soon get it😀
I think why the all tracked tank will win after a few seconds of tug of war is because the rubber feet heats up over time and give more grip just like in drag racing in real life
I do agree, I think I’ve found some carpet which offers more traction but not too much! Too much just means breaking parts and little action but hopefully I get the right balance😀 Thanks for the feedback.
The thought went through my head as well but the floors level so just one of those things I guess! After awhile the all tracked vehicles studs started to get warm due to friction which appears to be the reason why it eventually gained grip! It did weigh a lot!
i cant believe the green one lost. i bet all my money on that one. ... not that it would win the whole thing, ofcourse. just the first round. i had such hopes for you, little guy
The wire needs to be horizontal, because thé highest opponent is advantaged due to the other one pulling it down and offering it extra traction at the expense of its own.
Keep up the good vids! I would use carpet for the tug surface. But you could do a test to see what surface has better traction by attaching a pull scale to he tug string.
Hi I’ve just bought some electronic fishing scales to attach to the cars to do a pull test but I can also test the grip of the surface. Check out my mini winner stays on series too! I use 3 surfaces there which I think is better😀 and thank you very much
On the 3rd one I made it grippier and I agree partly but there is still is grip here it’s just when you have two equalling forces you can’t tell as much! Check the trailer out and that modded 42099 is pulling 20 plus kg with no grip issues on this wood😀 Thanks for the feedback😀
Hi sorry I’m in the uk and not sure how your second hand market is. I know the l motors are quite expensive but if you want some the best thing to do is get a second hand Liebherr set and sell parts you don’t want. There’s 4 l’s in the set and 2 hubs plus 3 xls. Worth far more in parts😀
Haha Carl is that bothering you? I must admit I want to get rid of it!!! I can’t move the camera across as there’s a wall stopping me getting the whole shot in otherwise😀🍺

Get a video up! It Reminds me of my car project! I have a 350z project track car(owned for 10 years and it’s going out in style..) it’s completely gutted out, light weight parts etc and then come the tyres... I changed from the beefy wide tyres and put skinnier and smaller diameter in! Saved 30lbs of rotational mass and some drag and the difference is night and day according to the vbox! So me personally would go for what works best! I guess it’s gripping better due to have more weight per square inch
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines I like the 350 engine, nice sound to it. Had one in a Murano. When I put steel wheels on a Mondeo it improved performance a lot, narrowed, smaller, just had more grip better ride, little more body roll so I hear you! My skinny wheels are actually heavy but the width and the compound is probably the key. Argh, I don't like the look on the back with skinnies. Might unlock the rear differential and keep the fats on the back. So many combinations. Cheers for the reply, I'll ponder it for a while.
Yeah the 350 engine is lovely and smooth and now the car weighs 1250 kg it goes pretty well too! Most new cars are over tyred partly due to looks and they’re far more playful with a little less grip on the rear! Sounds like you’re in a right conundrum over it lol!
Personally I feel the Bluetooth control is way ahead of the old power functions IMO. Also I love how you can use a PS4 or any Bluetooth controller to drive them with the brick controller 2 app.. However people who have Buwizz can do that too with power functions. As standard models the 9398 has better gearing but if you switch the gears on the 42099 It’s great. I love both models but if I was buying now it would be the 42099😀
Hi all models are controlled by the one button! The rubber studs started to get warm giving it traction. Also the big digger twisted slightly and lost traction 😀
The tracked vehicle won though😃 those rubber studs produce quite a lot of grip on wood. I’ve found some different carpet for next time which will hopefully work well😀
I know what you mean! It’s been tricky but hopefully this thinner carpet works better😀 The problem with the thick carpet is the tracked vehicles with studs wouldn’t even move backwards as there was too much grip. Thanks for the feed back though it is appreciated. On the 3rd one I made the wooden floor stickier, let me know what you think but I’ll try the carpet next
42099 worse than 9398, he couldn't cross even the simplest obstacles. So this test proves nothing, these are ATV, well, so it was necessary to test them on the off-road, rather than test their traction.
There does need to be a balance, if there is too much grip it’s nearly impossible to move a vehicle backwards which just equals broken parts as some of my models are very powerful😀
me thinking in head: nah no way its making a come back
15 seconds later: holy what the
