- Helen Zille, federal chairperson of the DA was a keynote speaker at the BizNews conference in the Drakensberg at the beginning of March 2022. She discussed South African politics and the war of ideologies within the ANC and the country as a whole. After her presentation, Zille sat down with BizNews founder Alec Hogg for a fascinating discussion.

We need the people of the EFF to and (RET)ANC to listen to this. Because all they want to hear is BEE,EEB,EWC and transformation. The very policies that has brought this once prosperous country to where we are now. But I guess that is what they want to hear (as opesed to Mandela and Martin Luther King "Judge the whiteman by the colour of his skin")...
BEE etc etc was designed to allow contracts to be accessible to an elite few to enable uncontested corruption.

Why Zelenski is portrayed as comedian became politician. He started as a lawyer and chose to work as a comedian. This shows how well he understands today's times.

Zelensky is a puppet. The USA marched him and his country into a war with Ukrainians paying in blood. Now he can not stop it even if he wanted to. Being a comedian/lawyer is irrelevant. Zelensky is just another curse on his people. Look into this situation more deeply and think! Ukraine is just the next proxy-war theatre. Wiser leaders would have avoided this.

- a brave man supported by his family, fighting for freedom of Ukrainians and us under difficult conditions against overwhelming odds,
- Ukrainians, of all walks of life following him, freely, into battle and

Her analysis on Ukraine is simply ignorant. Simplistic regurgitation of blah blah.
Would be interesting to hear yours or a reference to who you think does a better one.
I suggest that, as a start, you look into the past and recent analysis on the Ukraine crisis by Prof. John Mearsheimer. He is probably abundantly accessible via RUclips.
Zille and her foolish triangular analysis is vacuous and rather pathetic - she seeks to elevate the EFF (the scaremonger) and the DA (the saviour) against the anc (bumbling incompetent) to create a foolishly simplistic picture of South Africa and its complexities. None of these parties are necessarily where the RSA’s future lies. Political parties are chameleons and often passing structures, the DA is the classic example of that. She speak to the un-enquiring and unthinking. Those little personalisation anecdotes may have some go ahhhhh. To me its just egotistical claptrap.
@@martinsolomon2299 Thank you. Yes I read/watch a little bit of Mearsheimer as well as others like Fukuyama, Huntington and Sachs (David Sachs on Twitter). I may be wrong but I think Zille, in her way, is with those, including Peterson and Weinstein, advocating for a non-tribal (i.e. non-racial/class/cast, etc. ) liberal democracy where individual freedom, choice and speech trumps a virtuous tribal ideology (Marx/Verwoerd) and that Ukraine was drawn to the ideals of a liberal democracy but that Europe missed the opportunity to pull them in. I am sure many would disagree with that but I try to understand all the above people. I think Mearsheimer's view, because he predicted conflict in Ukraine, is just more prominent at the moment but that the final form of government for the world, if we do not self destruct, may still be some sort of liberal democracy with a strong dose of capitalism, as per Fukuyama, and a large safety net for those that need it or refuse to stop singing the praises of Marx. That being said, Yogi Berra said “In theory, there is no difference between practice and theory. In practice, there is.” and I maybe wrong , again.
As far as Zille's triangle is concerned, maybe it is also a normal distribution with a left (i.e. racial/class/cast, etc. ), a right (i.e. non-racial/class/cast etc.) and an uncomfortable undecided majority in the middle whom you and I can help encourage to understand the above perspectives and make up their own mind as to why they are uncomfortable.

Helen worked tirelessly and fearlessly against the Apartheid regime - I know, she was a colleague at the Rand Daily Mail and one of the very best journalists you'd ever come across. As for her (in)famous Tweet, the intent and content seems to have gotten mangled with time.....Have a listen with an open mind, that's how we progress as a species. Sterkte.

She said the one good thing that we have now in a democracy is the benefits of universities, roads, hospitals, schools, that came from colonialism which is now in the hands of a democratically elected constitutional democracy. If you listen to Malema and not the facts, people like you will rot in a hole.
