My G8 gas 143k, and everything still runs great! Other than multiple oil leaks, shes running strong still. I'm going to be pulling the motor soon to change the front and rear main seals and am getting it freshened up + heads and cam
Great Instructional Video. I have 180,000 miles on my 2009 g8gt. My radiator has a small hole on the top. JB welded it but ordered a new Cold Case Radiator and water pump. while I have all this removed really need to delete the DOD. I have it deleted with the tune but worried about that fatal ticking noise. Trying to locate a complete DOD replacement kit with a new cam. I have no idea what cam I need. Stage 2 or slightly better. trying to get to 500 hp. I have the tune and roto fab CAI, Kooks long tube headers, and Corsa exhaust. The car is lowered and I have had only one issue since I purchased it new and that was the alternator which I replace. Thank you so much for this video and any help on a complete kit would be great. CEJ
I can't believe you made it to 180k miles on the stock Dod lifters. We got our entire Cam Kit from GPI. You would probably need a Stage 3 cam for 500hp but peak numbers aren't as important as the proper cam for your setup. If you still have stock converter, a big cam would not work as well as a cam designed for stock converters
Sorry, it took so long to thank you. I have my G8 down to removing the heads. The most challenging thing so far was removing the spark plug wires from the head. Had to cut one with a knife and still could not get it off. Trying to figure out how to get the back two head bolts out without getting inside the engine compartment. The drivers side exhaust bolt under the car is stripped so I have to cut the bolt off to get the headers to drop low enough to get to the head bolts on that side..I am not a mechanic and do not have certain tools that would help. Thanks again for your video EPISODES and Welcome back.....lol
about how long did the entire process take you?? I'm thinking about attempting this by myself in my garage. Great video!! You definitely made it very thorough and I will be following this step by step when I do mine!!
About 3 weekends. Some of that time was waiting for parts in between weeks or just finding free time. Best advice is to just take your time and label all bolts in baggies for organization. You got it 🤘
Question...wouldn’t it be somewhat more practical to remove top end & heads first while cam is still in place so as not to risk dropping a lifter out of lifter bore & into engine necessitating oil pan removal to retrieve dropped lifter? Just a question...super vid!👍🏻
@@The1st60ft no problem I’m gonna upload some videos of the camaro 5th gen she’s tuned up real nice sitting beautiful with them 305/35zr20s I wanna down size but till then I’ll rock these 20s
Great video! Love the Powerblock Parody haha
🤣
Ugh you’re reminding me of ALL the work we had to do in a small garage 🤦🏼♂️. It sure feels good every time I drive the G8 tho
Hahahaha moves out good now!
Mannn watching this shows that I could’ve done my cam swap myself. If you have common sense and a little bit mechanic smarts this is easy.
Absolutely! 🙌
The first time is the hardest. Just gets easier from there 👍
Thanks for the education. I’m gonna be doing this to my ‘09 G8 GT soon, mine has 97k miles. Awesome videos.
Thank you! Much appreciated 🤘 we should have the How To: Valve Spring Swap Video out this week
Dude I was cracking up with that "BEEP!"
"WE'RE FILMING HERE"

Video was entertaining and educational thank you it was helpful. How did your car run with the dod delete?
Running great!

You are right, and we did pull the heads off first but to show people who just want to tackle a DOD delete, I wanted to do it in that order.
See youtube has been getting me now with the right kind of ads.
How much hp did u get from just the dod delete and cam upgrade?
“Let the Taters 🥔 out the exhaust “ 🤣
Ya mine had springs lifter before
I love your vids man
Thanks bro!
