Compression is not needed for diesel to burn in petrol engine. Spark plug is already provided in that Petrol engine to burn the charges(here we will use diesel instead of Petrol)
No the first ans is wrong, petrol engine works on the spark ignition by using spark plug which will Ignite the petrol there is compression ratio difference but the main reason is in the petrol engine we use Spark ignition plug in diesel engine the engine cylinder block is compressed and a pressure of 500 Pascal this is the Z correct answer
exactly he gave wrong answer, right answer is yes we use petrol from point of view of thermodynamics only but from mechanical point of view no we diesel fuel is viscous which give advantage of self lubrication in fuel pumps and injectors moreover it is safer to store as it have low volatility

When you use petrol in diesel engine, the engine won’t even start. At the compression ratio of diesel engine petrol won’t reach to its ignition temperature.
Bro it isn't like that...Diesel engine has high compression ratio as compared to petrol engine and it would burn petrol but the blast would be uncontrollable and lead to knocking of engine at very high rate..so it would work but will damage engine cylinder wall, piston head and would cause vibrations ..and as diesel engine uses injector and petrol will be atomize easily compared to diesel so no problem of burning of petrol..and it will reach its ignition temp as compression ratio of Diesel will take it to ignition temp with knocking issues..
Why will diesel not burn in a petrol engine ? Agreed that the compression ratio is less and temperature after compression will be less, but what he is forgetting is we also use a spark plug which can ignite the fuel. Next, he said that fuel will burn mid way if we use petrol in diesel engine and result in detonation - But Again Petrol will injected through a fuel pump when the Piston will be close to TDC. If there is no fuel when piston is in mid way how will It burn. And again to add - Self ignition Temperature of Petrol > Self Ignition Temp of Diesel. Can somebody tell me what am I doing wrong in my analysis.
Is there any book/website/material for mechanical engineering interviews that has both theoretical and common sense or tricky questions, for eg, what happens if petrol is put in diesel engines?
Knocking or detonation will be occured. Because petrol is lighter than diesel and at high temperature it will ignite. Diesel engine has high compression ratio, it operates at very high temperature. Ignition delay time will be reduced and vibratory shock will be generated because at high temperature last portion of fuel it self ignite very fast.
