saw them play this song live. me and 2 of my buddies had just left school on the last day of our senior year, and drove 2 and a half hours to see them. they finished with this song and it sounds MASSIVE live. honestly a life altering experience.
I saw her in a dream Exiting the bookstore lobby Sitting on a bench on Baltimore and reading Murakami Slick with salt beneath the sun Her hands start tying up her hair One pair of deeply tinted shades Reflects my unbelieving stare And at once I am taken She asked me what I wanted As if one ever really knew And I said "dull domestication, Free from pressure to pursue Another love, another touch, Another tired conversation" And then she shut her novel sharply, and proposed a new location And at once I obliged Details for new protests Adorn white printer paper flyers She says "I feel so old admitting Counterculture makes me tired" She leads me into the cafe Her intention is exact It is one hundred four degrees She takes her coffee hot and black And at once I am entranced She suggests we settle down Meaning settle down for good She knows the perfect place on Martha street In her old neighborhood And then a taxi sounds a horn And it is filled with all our things And it is parked outside the cafe And the driver sounds incredibly impatient When we merge onto the freeway She rolls her window down completely The driver dials into a station Then she smiles at me discreetly She says "I love this song," then turns away And tracks the clouds The driver curses with conviction While "heavy metal drummer" plays us out
What is the bassist doing at 1:47? How is he creating a doubled effect out of feedback? Listen closely ive never heard anyone do that before. Also the ending of this song purpose is to create an ambiance to let the listeners imagination run with possibilities of where the two characters go from there. I think it’s brilliant, the only thing I suggest is maybe cut it off one bar before the ending it is a little long but I love this song
I've seen this live with different band but not bass. I think it's putting an echo effect back in the amp. Something a peddle probably lacks like a weird distortion
this is some AP english analysis shit u got going on, can never figure this shit out on my own but love when someone else does and i begin to understand it too 💀
I’ve been listening to this song a lot more lately, and watching a lot of tik tok before bed lmao and basically this song is 110% about the main character. specifically a John Green novel.
I love this song so much but the 104 degree thing dives me nuts. Coffee is served at nearly twice that temperature. 104 degree coffee tastes extremely lukewarm. It's only a couple degrees hotter than your body temperature.
Very Listenable, but too much like a garage band trying to imitate Beck, and about two minutes too long. The extended instrumental part at the end is not anything special. The poetry of the lyrics is definitely well done!
"Dull domestication, free from pressure to pursue
Another love, another touch, another tired conversation"
fucckkkkk

3 MINUTE CHORD YES
This is honestly one of my favorite songs holy shit
Same.
I fucking love this song. Jakes talent is unreal.
bass player was going so hard he lost his headphones.
I saw her in a dream
Exiting the bookstore lobby
Sitting on a bench on Baltimore and reading Murakami
Slick with salt beneath the sun
Her hands start tying up her hair
One pair of deeply tinted shades
Reflects my unbelieving stare
And at once I am taken
She asked me what I wanted
As if one ever really knew
And I said "dull domestication,
Free from pressure to pursue
Another love, another touch,
Another tired conversation"
And then she shut her novel sharply,
and proposed a new location
And at once I obliged
Details for new protests
Adorn white printer paper flyers
She says "I feel so old admitting
Counterculture makes me tired"
She leads me into the cafe
Her intention is exact
It is one hundred four degrees
She takes her coffee hot and black
And at once I am entranced
She suggests we settle down
Meaning settle down for good
She knows the perfect place on Martha street
In her old neighborhood
And then a taxi sounds a horn
And it is filled with all our things
And it is parked outside the cafe
And the driver sounds incredibly impatient
When we merge onto the freeway
She rolls her window down completely
The driver dials into a station
Then she smiles at me discreetly
She says "I love this song," then turns away
And tracks the clouds
The driver curses with conviction
While "heavy metal drummer" plays us out
such a good song 😭 w the simplest of chords and lyrics

To be fair, they don’t specify that it’s Fahrenheit. Could be Celsius; in which case it’s really fucking hot
I think that lyric is about the air temperature, not the coffee temperature :D
I think he means that she’s getting her coffee hot and black when it’s 104 degrees outside, judging by the way he worded it
Raspberry vines- nana grizzly
nana grizzly 💀
serious cake vibes
I dont think i ever heard more douchy pretentious hipster designer cut lyrics than this one. Congratulations
these lyrics have the flow of a 3 year old thrown down the stairs and then the parent fell on top of it
it sort of reminds me of bret easton ellis i love it
It's supposed to tell a story.
Very Listenable, but too much like a garage band trying to imitate Beck, and about two minutes too long. The extended instrumental part at the end is not anything special. The poetry of the lyrics is definitely well done!
the studio version is about 3 minutes long, this one is just one love version
i think it might be inspired by honestly? by American football
i think it serves as a really good background to the lyrics
Garage band? You know who this is right?
BECK??? that’s a laughable comparison
Boring
Shit slapss
What do you mean?
listen to the lyrics
you are buddy
Be nice
