Still have the gutter machine anyone! I believe I just picked up an old Knudson 1700 and I wanna adjust the away from the house bend that’s going on any help would be greatly appreciated
I'm not sure what roller it is. But you also might check the two metal rods in the center of the machine that guide the aluminum. Make sure one is not bent too far and scratching. I clean my rotors with WD-40 or silicone spray. Then wipe each one completely dry afterwards. Sometimes its rust spots that can cause problems. Just make sure the machine is unplugged when you have your hands in there cleaning.
What would you recommend since I tried adjusting both sides I believe there is a exact measurement the the right channel( looking at it from the back ) should be at I just can’t seem to get it right , won’t even feed the gutter through anymore
@@cristiandiaz2083 There are a few things that you can try. 1. unplug the machine and clean all the rollers. Dirty rollers an cause that. 2. Are you spraying too much wd-40 on the rollers? this will make it slip. 3. grab the gutter and pull it out as you run it. This helps too.
Shouldn't the lip have bit a ripple? Also doesnt wd40 leave alot of residue? My last machine had polyurethane rollers but got stolen the one I have now has the same rollers as yours and I read it they should be cleaned with acetone or paint thinner? And a chain lube for the chains not to use oil. One last thing I was told this machine I have now needs the gear oil changed. I never had to do that with my other machine. I'm not even sure which gear oil to use. 80w90 seems the most common but I also noticed there's 75w90 and 75w140? Confusing.
The lip should be about 1/4 inch. A little less is ok, so long as the hanger feels secure. I clean my rollers with wd-40 then I wipe them completely dry. You don't want to leave oil on the rollers or the machine will not pull the aluminum through. The gear oil is simple to change. 80w-90 or 75w-90 is fine. It doesn't get hot enough to justify 140. so long as the gear oil doesn't leak out(which it sometimes does) then the gear oil will last a long long time.
@@mariotorchio4075 I'm in manitoba and the company I buy my supplies from told me the lip does need that ripple cause the from hot to cold weather cause it to expand effect the hangers in the winter.
@@jvirg I've not heard of such a thing and it doesn't even make sense logically. It needs a lip for sure. about 1/4 inch(but 3/16" is fine also). A 50 degree temp variation would result in a change in size of 0.05 inches. very very little. As far as the ripple goes and as far as I'm aware, the ripple is a result of a poorly adjusted machine or you are letting the gutter hang down too much and bend as it's exiting the machine.
@@mariotorchio4075 o ya the metal will expand and so will hardy bord, i ran a job that was 68 feet straight run on hardy bord fashi in 30 degree temperature's once and let's just say the expansion rate of the hardy bord and the gutter didn't jeehaw very well! I turn down any job that uses hardy bord for fashi now i learned my lesson.

I put mine in cargo trailer it helps keep water off the machine. Still brand new look..
My machine leaves a scratch mark on the first bend from the bottom... Do you know which roller would be the one scratching it

It needs a little play. Like 1/32 of an inch to 1/16 of an inch of play.
@@mariotorchio4075 what if your machine starts to skip ? And scratch the gutter?

The lip may ripple for the first 12" but, no it should not ripple. You may have the adjustment a bit too much. Try to back it off.
