  • Euro 88 hosts West Germany underline why they are a favourite to win the competition as they beat England 3-1 in a friendly in Düsseldorf in September 1987. It is England's first defeat for a year, as without captain Bryan Robson they are over-run in midfield with Pierre Littbarski scoring twice including directly from a corner. The match provides a milestone as substitute Neil Webb becomes the 1,000th player to be capped by England.

He was famous for his short and bendy legs with angle that enabled him to bend the ball extremely, especially free kicks.

So It is a little bit difficult to see, when not 1-2 players in Norway squad is black, but why half of squad???Then some disgusted reactions are comprehensible. Maybe after some years half of Greenland quad will be black.

Germany is the richest European country...
Also used to have African colonies. Therefore have received many immigrants from Turkey, Africa and East Europe unlike Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Sweden and others...
Why if they have born in Germany or hold a German passport shouldn't play for Die Nationalmannchaft.

Felix Magath with Puerto Rican mother played 2 world cup 1982 and 1986 with Germany and Olaf Thom with Turkish heritage won a world cup in 1990.

Didn't need to dope against this dismal England team...Adams and Sansom substance abusing, Webb and Hoddle catatonic, Barnes typically low grade. Only Lineker up to speed (can't think of any more drugs references). On a separate note I used to think Shilts was brilliant during his England career but rewatching his games it reminded me how poor his understudies were and why he lasted all the way to wc90.
