had the good fortune to have ridden in the cab of old #81 one week ago. Did not know that it had just been returned to service the prior year. Your views of this venerable engine are fantastic. Thanks for posting.
Very nice video. Well filmed & edited. Amazing steam engine. Good, that they brought her into running condition again. Cool little yellow shunting locomotive with a formidable diesel sound. Thumbs up! :) Greetings Mega
Great video Fred!! Thanks for highlighting 81's great restoration. We spend a lot of time in Ely at the NNRY as can be seen on my channel. Thanks again!
Thanks again for another great train video! God bless you and yours. Thank you for all you do! Amazing stuff. I think I mentioned before my dad's uncle worked on the old steamers in Cheyenne for UP. Again, God bless you and yours! 🇺🇸😊👍
@@airailimages He worked on all the locomotives, Diesel and Electric too. He was a master Machinist. He actually was still driving Hudson cars and trucks in the late 60's! He had a shop on his property and just kept making parts for them! Thanks for the reply. Love the channel!!!
Another spectacular restoration now the Nevada Northern has three operating steam locomotives surprisingly the only three that have survived with 81 back-end operation now they can focus on finishing the long years mandate on number 40
Nevada Northern flew a job opening last year for a mechanic or an engineer(?), it was tempting but I don’t really want to live somewhere that cold ever in my life.
I liked the cat story at the beginning. Why is the caboose at the front and not at the back where it belongs? At the 15:00 mark or about. What was that small engine? Great video. Thanks.
Don't know why they ran the trains that way on Friday; on Saturday, caboose position was normal (video to come soon...) The yellow diesel is a 1950 GE switcher used by Kennecott mines in Nevada.
When will Nevada Northern will restoration that Southern Pacific Heavyweight Coach Passenger Car @5:32-5:34 & restore Cotton Belt Boxcar they been just rushed hope they will do that this month or this next november.
Here's Nevada Northern's classic 4-6-0 No. 40 in action in 2017: ruclips.net/video/07r9Y_GLDVk/видео.html
She is beautiful! Great to see another classy lady back to her former glory. Well done!
What a nice restoration. The old girl looks factory fresh!
Great to see a beautiful engine come back to life! Well done to Nevada Northern's crew!
It sure is!
Beautiful scenery and a really good looking consolidation steam locomotive make this video worth watching. 👍😉
Glad you enjoyed it
Great to see a third Nevada Northern locomotive restored. What a magical place Ely has become.
It sure is!
Magnificent restoration!
Great Video. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Cool old engine, nice to see the wigwaggs that Rick's Restorations fixed and restored. 👍👍👍👍👍❤🇺🇸
Cool! Love the whistle echo in the valley.....

Yes -- the Nevada Northern Railway is always worth the trip. Thanks for commenting.
Love everything about this except for the safety first sign on the front!

Union Pacific steam in Cheyenne was a big deal! That's neat to have a family connection to that era.

Beautiful restore. Good to see that Dirt is still on the job. Give him a behind the ear scratch for me.
Great video and coverage of #81 airailimages, greetings from New Jersey.

Namaste Sir good night Sir very nice video & steam locomotive old is gold Sir. Very nice Sir hat's off to you Sir. Thank's Sir.
The sounds of the air compressors sound like the southern pacific cab forwards
Beautiful.
A beautiful engine, love the green boiler jacketing.
I live fairly close to Ely, but I was out of town when they ran 81. Sad I missed it
I want to cry
That must be a Lunkenheimer 3 Chime on 81!
She looks great now; she always seemed sad and lost, somehow, when she was on static display downtown across from the cemetary.
Yes, it is a cause for celebration each time another old steam locomotive returns to operational condition.

I was just there a few days ago. I always enjoy Ely. I dunno... it could be tempting.

Great restoration. What does it burn for fuel? Coal? Diesel conversion?
Coal. Thanks for watching!
You're in East Ely, NV
2:16 poor kitty needs a good bath.
7:47 something needs a bit of oily stuff.
9:55 that cyclist is keeping up with it.
what is the top speed of this engine?
Good question -- maybe someone can supply that info. I think they limit train speeds to 15 mph on the track.
🙏👍💕
This train has to be in No 95 78 No krm905
