Holy smokes. My parents taught me that if I couldn’t say anything nice, then to keep it to myself. So here’s my sincere nice comment: that owner is extremely lucky to have you making that thing drivable! As for the other comments that I was tempted to make on the quality of that thing, well, Mama’s and Daddy’s rule is being applied…….
You're a god!! Saving a customers life! They probably cut off the body and thought they were keeping the best part. And they drove the thing 80mph everywhere they went. Their Guardian angel was worn out!! Cheaper to build new than repair that crap.... but you know that...
Heck yeah, I've always liked the look of jeep rods. Wow this one is pretty sketchy but I know you'll get rid of all that ratty work. Look forward to seeing this hot rod done right 👍🇺🇸
YES YES YES... THIS IS COOL 😎 👍. Jeeps make great Rat Rods. Your right needs some work no question about it. But to visualize the finished product... ah yeah it's cool. Going to be glued to watching this build.
I love the understatement, 'It leaves something to be desired'. I'd feel unsafe sitting in it, let alone starting the engine. i'll follow with interest!
Man this is gonna be awesome! I had a 47 willys cj, a 302 ford, and a dodge 5 speed that i was going to turn into a rat rod when i was in highschool. I ended up having to sell it to help with financial problems with my family. What i wouldnt give to have it all back now lol
I’m sure glad they brought the Jeep to you … it will be much safer once you are finished !! It is going to be a very interesting build and I am looking forward to watching it all come together ..
I’m glad to see you fix this I’m sure it’s going to look great and be much safer when you are done with it. Thanks for taking the time to share with all of us. Love watching your videos keep them coming.
These things are awesome and fun. I built mine in 2018. It’s on air and has a engine and trans from a box truck. Used many parts from the box truck. Daily driven a lot too. Actually have a video of it on my channel. Excited to see more of this project. Don’t cut the door jam. I’ve seen this done and it looks goofy. Go behind it to stretch body.
J. C. Whitney used to have a nice 1” thick Jeep tub. That would have been a nice investment. Now, other companies make them, but you’d have to make a deal with them to donate one.
Can’t Waite for part 2 . Your pretty cool Bud . Ya see stuff . I was like that before a dam stroke ! Now doc says no more cars . Not sure I still could , but Watchin you reminds me of me lol Great work . The build will be awesome
Saw this video and had to click. It amazing what you can do with these vechicals. Me and my dad are actually going to be doing one but are is a Jeep Fleet Van. It 90 percent still good or so all original.
Well, there is a lot of info on RUclips you have my channel Rat rod Bob, Make it Kustom, Corey Wheat, and many others. I'd start off watching some of them, and then at some point you just have to do it! You'll make some mistakes I'm sure we all have just deal with them as they come and have fun with it?
Surely this mess wasn't street legal , I think the easy way out for the grille would be just to make it wider . I'm with everyone else, gonna be an interesting build ( rebuild) 👍👍👍
Why not shorten and fishplate the chassis to get the rear wheel well centered in the right place instead of lengthening the body tub? Jeep Flat fenders look sportier short. I am guessing the wheelbase is over 100" it should be 80"
That rat was a quick build with 100% whatever tools and parts were laying around nothing fancy. With that being said that car was beat hard full throttle all the time and would carry the front driver wheel all the way down the street. Really wasn't as sketchy to ride in as it looks. You don't have to build pristine shit to have a good time. That thing with the original body was a ripper. 100% ratrod.
So why not shorten the chassis a bit instead of stretching the body in two places I mean it may stop looking like a Willy's jeep if it's too stretched right I get stretching the back part for the tank oh yeah you needed more feet room as well so I guess that answers my own question. Well carry on then!
Holy crap that thing is a disaster. I would have threw the chassis away and started over. What a cobbled mess. Cold bubble gum welds, tubes stacked and welded with no fishplates, some ugly c channel for spring mounts. Scary!
What a death trap... whoever slapped this thing together had no concern for their safety or anyone else’s.... You’d be better off just starting from scratch and building a brand new chassis... Sure hope the guy didn’t pay a whole lot for this thing,,, cause he’s going to have to shell out some serious cash in order for it to be built correctly... all new or junkyard parts,, either way it’s time and money... Looking forward to seeing what you do on it and what improvements you make...
How the hell does someone invest that much energy into sticking together such a huge smoldering pile of crap? Can’t wait to see how your magical 🪄 powers transform this “creation” into something drivable. And I pray the genius who welded this originally has sold his torch and welder and now just watches baseball.
That rat was built from nothing to driving and tagged in a few months in a apartment parking lot no shop no fancy tools. Worked just fine for for all the abuse it took.
Reminds me of Roadkill jeep

This build is going to be so cool, but WOW, that is some sketchiness in the baseline. Looking forward to seeing it transform!
You're a god!! Saving a customers life! They probably cut off the body and thought they were keeping the best part. And they drove the thing 80mph everywhere they went. Their Guardian angel was worn out!! Cheaper to build new than repair that crap.... but you know that...
There is some bad but there is some good too!!!
I am usually a optimist. But I fear that thing is a death trap. Starting over is best way to go.
Interesting what people build and "drive" and think they are safe to do so. But then again people have to start somewhere. Keep up the good work
You have your work cutout for you with this Rat Rod Jeep. Looking forward to seeing the next video. Blow this Jeep apart and start over …
Yes sir!
That is SKETCHY even by my standards
Lol
If steel wasn't so expensive, I almost think it would be better to start over. lol I'm in for this one!
Heck yeah, I've always liked the look of jeep rods.
Wow this one is pretty sketchy but I know you'll get rid of all that ratty work. Look forward to seeing this hot rod done right 👍🇺🇸
I am all about saving the classics and customs. This one would challenge my patience. Should be pretty cool when finish. God's speed to you.
YES YES YES... THIS IS COOL 😎 👍. Jeeps make great Rat Rods. Your right needs some work no question about it. But to visualize the finished product... ah yeah it's cool. Going to be glued to watching this build.
I agree!
look's like another cool build.
I love the understatement, 'It leaves something to be desired'. I'd feel unsafe sitting in it, let alone starting the engine. i'll follow with interest!
Project Death Trap!! That was supposedly a running-driving project?!?
Yep!
Man this is gonna be awesome! I had a 47 willys cj, a 302 ford, and a dodge 5 speed that i was going to turn into a rat rod when i was in highschool. I ended up having to sell it to help with financial problems with my family. What i wouldnt give to have it all back now lol
There is still stuff out there. Never give up and you'll find it again!
Looks like a total rebuild Anthony. But your the man for the job! Looking forward to the next video.
Just as well they brought it to you, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Great project, I have always wanted to do a rat rod jeep. Can't wait to see you put this one together.
I’m sure glad they brought the Jeep to you … it will be much safer once you are finished !! It is going to be a very interesting build and I am looking forward to watching it all come together ..

Glad to see you on a new project. Looks like you've got your work cut out for you but I know you'll do a great job and fix all that.
I have always wanted these as well. Looking forward to see project through it's resurrection.
Thankfully they brought it to you before they needed a casket! Yikes!
Great video, this is going to be really cool!!!!!!!! 👍👍👍👍
Interesting project. But very sketchy fab work! Wow! Dangerous stuff actually. Reckon you gonna have to check the geometry of that whole frame
I did check it and it is actually fine!
@@HardCoreFab cool, then at least you don't have to worry about that. Enough other things to sort out😅
That's scary!
Really cool idea. Looks like maybe it’d be easier to start over… Looking forward to this.

like a CJ6
Wow! I love jeep rods but that's pretty scary!
Looks like an interesting project 🧐 I know you will spiff it up 😎can’t wait to see what you do with it
I can't imagine someone actually driving that" Built by Bugger" thing..wow
J. C. Whitney used to have a nice 1” thick Jeep tub. That would have been a nice investment. Now, other companies make them, but you’d have to make a deal with them to donate one.

Thanks so much! Sorry to hear of the stroke, happy to have you watching!
I like it. Have you seen Garage Idiots' Jeep on a C5 chassis?
I have. It's a fun build
Looks like you need to start over. I've seen the work you do, you're not going to be happy till it's right. You'll make it right.
Yeah it will get there
Saw this video and had to click. It amazing what you can do with these vechicals. Me and my dad are actually going to be doing one but are is a Jeep Fleet Van. It 90 percent still good or so all original.
Nice sounds like a fun project!
So does this mean the model T pickup restoration is put on hold?
The model found a new home!
I would just strip it down and start over and do it right to make it safe.
It’s going to be pretty nice after you get working on it Antony That thing is very sketchy
She a cool rig it will be worth all the work it takes to fix. Who ever builtin had to learn some how so no hate on them from me .
100%
That thing really needs the B-17 bomber oxygen tank that's setting in my garage.
If it was on air it would get on for sure!
In short it is just ready for the scrap pile
There is some bad but there's some good too!
It's the yadayadayada that gets expensive. We had a voodoo stick we waved over stuff that needed to cost more.
I'm new to this stuff and I was wondering how to get started
Well, there is a lot of info on RUclips you have my channel Rat rod Bob, Make it Kustom, Corey Wheat, and many others. I'd start off watching some of them, and then at some point you just have to do it! You'll make some mistakes I'm sure we all have just deal with them as they come and have fun with it?
Thanks for getting back to me. I think your stuff is the best. I have a question? What's a good frame to start with?
That can vary a lot from project to project.
Surely this mess wasn't street legal , I think the easy way out for the grille would be just to make it wider .
I'm with everyone else, gonna be an interesting build ( rebuild) 👍👍👍
Hello, What year & make Toyota rear end is best to get for a rat rod project?
For the most part all the truck and 4runner ones are pretty good. Also keep in mind as they get newer, they get wider.
seems like it might be better to start from scratch.
Why not shorten and fishplate the chassis to get the rear wheel well centered in the right place instead of lengthening the body tub? Jeep Flat fenders look sportier short. I am guessing the wheelbase is over 100" it should be 80"
Adding to the tube has made this thing every comfy even with the seat super low and the owner being a bigger guy like me.
What is the main chassis ?
2x4 box tube
Looks like you better start all over. Too many bads, and not enough goods.
So are you the builder?
Just start over, my lord
I'd love to know what the customer paid for this and then what the total cost was for all the work you did once it was all finished
This sounds like a trick to get him in trouble with his wife. LOL
@@HardCoreFab hahaha I never tell my wife exactly what I've got into my jeep rod either
So why not shorten the chassis a bit instead of stretching the body in two places I mean it may stop looking like a Willy's jeep if it's too stretched right I get stretching the back part for the tank oh yeah you needed more feet room as well so I guess that answers my own question. Well carry on then!
I went back and forth on what to do and splitting the body had the most positive impact
So start over, right
Didn't look good at all.. But it will when you are done 👍👍🇨🇱
I have a frame. If you just want to start over. . ..
I think the frame is going to be ok but thank you!
Sorry ....what is fish plate mean?
A fishplate is what you call is a flat piece of metal added to 2 joining rails or beams
Andarilho.
This is the kind of "build" that gives rat rods a bad name. You've definitely got your work cut out for you with it.
Wow...this thing is SUPER sketchy!
Holy crap that thing is a disaster. I would have threw the chassis away and started over. What a cobbled mess. Cold bubble gum welds, tubes stacked and welded with no fishplates, some ugly c channel for spring mounts. Scary!
Half way decent? More like halfa_ _ ed. Thank Buda you are going to be "safing" it up.
It's a real ratty rod
It was built, not bought. 😀

I can't be that hard on the person who did this. I just hope that they learned from it and do better next time.
That rat was built from nothing to driving and tagged in a few months in a apartment parking lot no shop no fancy tools. Worked just fine for for all the abuse it took.
So are you the builder?
@@HardCoreFab No but a good friend of mine did. I rode in it many times. Definitely had to have a pair of balls to drive.
Definitely glad to see it getting love after sitting for a few years.
What is with you hiring the homeless?
We appreciate friends with skills willing to volunteer their time to tinker with projects in the shop.
@@ThatRustLife well keep an eye on him, he looks kinda shifty, definitely not the type to leave alone with a picnic basket.
I'd leave him in the shop with any of my tools, but leave him alone with a picnic basket? Hell no! Lol
@@HardCoreFab lol
Man, what a shit box
It needs some work but it's going to be cool!
