Thank you. Actually gloves can do incredible damage to your hands when paired with refrigerant. Seen some horrific accidents with gloves freezing to hands causing 3rd degree burns. I do wear gloves on occasion but more to protect my hands from oil. Gloves are certainly good, provided proper precaution is taken.
Like the smart probes, although not to crazy about them burning your hands while installing or removing them especially on the high pressure side. I wonder if you could connect a valve core remover in line to prevent that loss of refrigerant and burning of hands?
I had a android phone when I first got them but it was very slow and laggy to respond when compared to Apple. I wonder if you had live dynamic data coming in you would see them stop changing (which means you lost signal ) before they completely dropped out. There was a much longer lag than the apple.
Joe Shearer The Android phone used here (S5) is the same one I keep in the Testo case. Definitely was still reading and not lag. We were both suprised by the range results and made sure several times lag was not the case before recording results. We are testing in a very rural area as well with minimal interference. My ipad actually performed the worst with all 3 tools. Its an older model.
I've never checked the distance this way but while the probes are in use I only get 20-25 feet line of sight distance and about 15 in a basement. Using a galaxy s7.
bill j The Android phone used in this video is an old S5) I keep in the Testo case. We did a line of sight test simply because that's how the tools are marketed and rated. We were both suprised by the range results here and made sure several times lag was not the case before recording results. We are testing in a very rural area as well with minimal interference. The "real world" range I experience using this tool is usually 20'- 30'
HVAC in SC I just got mine a little over a week ago and still playin around with them. Overall I like them but I'm disappointed with the app. Still feel it's a good way to get into the wireless side of the business without raiding any college funds.
Would low lose fittings work ? Just for checking readings . It bothers me to hook them up and lose this amount of Freon on I have only used my testo probs one time last year got them at the end of summer and when using them I had the same about of Freon loss
Maybe Im doing it wrong, but the low loss only works with a manifold where you can drain the high side into the low side. This loss is hard to prevent, its just the moment the schrader is depressed. I guess you could use a core removal tee and connect it that way, then just remove the core.
like them but i find they auto shutoff too much. also have to zero sensors a lot. if you forget you will be off by a significant psi. grab a set of yellow jacked 6 inch ball valve hoses to make them easier to use on cramped areas.
+Randall Calhoun Swivel Tees are perfect for difficult access areas. No need for any type of hose unless Im adding or removing charge. Ive been using these for a long time and now all our techs use them. Weve got smart probes (all brands) down to a science. Thanks for watching
Why does everybody when checking the range put them in the box and then walk 300 feet away from the house don’t you think a better test would be to leave them on the unit where you had him and walk in the house and see if you still had connection I don’t generally to check my pressures from the neighbors yard just saying I might need to check my pressures while I’m doing something inside but I will never need to check my pressures from the neighbors yard
@@HVACinSC I get that but to me the only usefulness would be if I could be inside looking at my readings outside or outside looking at my readings inside I had watched a bunch of videos and nobody tested that but if anybody’s interested I bought a set and no in most cases you will not be able to keep connection while you’re inside the house and your probes are outside or Vice versa
I agree. Hook them up then go to the basement or attic or crawl space. I have never hooked them up and walked 60 feet line of site away. This test was useless in my opinion. Testing under real working conditions would have been useful.
I just recently found your channel. I'm already a big fan, You have quality videos and quality information. Thanks!!
Testo or Fieldpiece smart probes? Im trying to decide? I mostly do residential and commercial HVAC. Not much refrigeration.
set the probes on top of the case you may get more range. packing in the case may block the signal.
tomcat27557 Sitting probes on the case versus sitting them in the case with the top open yielded the same results.
Thanks for watching.
Great video, however for safety (from personal experience) ALWAYS wear gloves when connecting any thing to the charging ports
Thank you.

@@HVACinSC exactly. And be a man it ain't that bad
Jjuly 0f 2021 Testo "long range" smart probes loose phone connection the instant I walk out out the cooler. Not 3 ft away.

I love my Fieldpiece smart probes
👍
i got a 909 probe too.
I put a tiny drop of super glue for the red/blue sticker and they haven't worn off yet - over a year so far

nice job
good vid. 90 ft wow.
they should have made the battery case one red one blue and they could be swapped if needed

It's called line of sight distance testing. When you are reviewing a half dozen sets of smart probes like I did this is the most consistent test. 👌
