- We finally get on to that running gear! Or should i say we batter the running gear around the workshop trying to taker it part! Mats car is coming together nicely now! Check out the next vid where we continue on both front and rear axles and hopefully get more progress!

really pleased that you are fully putting back together the car and painting it, its brilliant news that there will be a few more years left of videos for mat armstrongs bmw...lol great...
Amazing work Ryan. Been following this one from the first video. I’d love to know how much the pile of rust weighs lol.
One of these days I would love to see how you guys organize parts for future reassembly, that must be a nightmare trying to remember how everything goes back together!
I have been watching this restoration from the beginning and I have enjoyed every moment loving the transformation keep up the hard work Ryan doing a great job.
I’ve really enjoyed watching you breathe life back into this. Great job
Excellent Ryan 👍🏻 nice seeing something different but not taking away what you do with body work 👍🏻
That's a good trick - clamping mole grips round the impact driver. 👍👍
Seeing the impact driver for the CV joint bolts brought back memories. good ol 8mm triple square bolts. I worked on VWs for 20+ years which started with the air cooled generation. Those drivers were essential.
Well since the repair costs will be a hundred trillion pounds, the plan is to transform it into a house for Kevin.
As in Nightride Kevin (Kebin)?
Agreed!
And Mat could live downstairs.
Lmfao
@@idrisddraig2😂 no the dog Kevin.
But Nightride Kebin would be cool also
Brilliant workmanship bro
Great video as always, just hopM.A. appreciate all the work that you had to do to bring the suspension back to new.just keep doing what your doing and carry on to the next part of the never ending project.great job 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Glad to get to hang out with you Ryan..take care buddy and don't overwork yourself buddy.
You’re doing an amazing job. You must be loving it too.
So satisfying to watch.
It is like watching the Phoenix being resurrected.
Could the future for this rust bucket be BMW E24 CSI Group 2?
All the best to you Ryan, and your family. 👍🏼
Another great update, im excited to see whats in store for this epic project
Although this is a big job you make it look so easy it's truly inspiring! An inspiration for us all, thank you 👍👍👍👍👍
Great work Ryan. 👍
Looks like a great canvas for another BMW art-car 😎👀👍👍
Another great vid. I hope the plan doesn’t take away from what classic this car is.
Ayup Ryan hope your all ok progress on multiple cars that you achieve is very impressive my friend 👍🏻😉👏👏
OMG the work that needs to be done still!
That was really interesting. I'm sure I remember (?) my '79 635 had vented discs on the rear. That was an earlier chrome bumper, pre ABS model. The brakes would lock up real easy at low speed, but at high speed they were fabulous. Same system as the Countach? Lanbourghini were working with BMW on the M1 at the time. I always used DOT 5.1 brake fluid - highly recommended. Great video thanks. :)
Early e24s, based on the e12s, had better standard brakes than the later e28 based cars, but for the lack of ABS.
Some dedication to get this far.
exhausting job, i trust you. Well done
looking good these e24 and e23 are going up in value ! 1980's fashion
Great work Ryan. Luckily my 83 635 was nowhere near as rusty as Matt's. I am just coming to the end of a total nuts and bolts restoration, just got to sort the abs out, hopefully just one pulse sensor to replace. I won't mention how long it has taken me!!! I hope you are saving all the stuff you are not putting back as parts are getting pretty rare. Very well done
Full BMW works paint job. As they used to be in the DTM. Complete with full works body kit.Nice😊
Nice work again
Love this series....reminds me Swiss cars that are 5 years old or less in some cases!😅
Fantastic work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇬🇧 British Craftsmanship
Nice work 👍
BMW had a 635 track car, which when i saw the roll bar going in could be an indicator how this build will end up. My 635 csi was red with biege leather interior. I had many happy driving hours in that car ! And watching this one and the awesome work thats gone into it.
Matt loves gran tourismo , so we can fully expect something in the race car category
It’s the patience involved that I can’t understand. It’s surely harder to master than the skills
This is gonna look so good...
Well done.
Thx great work
Ooosh another sunday sorted 🤜🏿🤛🏻
This is so exciting to follow. What do you want to do with the whole rear axle system. Will it be sandblasted and powder coated? expect that everything from brake discs, brake calipers and linings and shock absorbers will be new. As you say, there will be many episodes to come. Incredibly exciting.
@Leon-jp7ch
I think they will definitely powder coat it, cuz it's really strong and perfect for underbody parts. And I think the final few episodes will be the last odds and ends. I hope Mat gives a lot of recognition for their awesome work!
awesome content !! cheers
The dirty work with all the cleaning and bashing always seems to take a lot more time to do.
But keep up the great work.
Will await your next video..
Thanks for the video.
Great work. I hope it goes back to original not butchered. 👍👍👍👍
Hard graft respect
I love your channel and I i like your work but i think it will be more fun for U and for us (viewers) if u work with your dad on projects like this. Keep up the good work :)
Top work Ryan u top guy mate
Had mat seen the work you've done.. I'm guessing so, knowing him is probably going to be ... you know what I've no idea!!
Amazing job Ryan. I feel your pain with the driveshafts. Just be aware of the possibility that the brake dust your rolling around in could contain asbestos which could be transferred everywhere you go on your clothes.
Thinking how Matt would invision - a 3.0lt CSI/CSL retro/look alike probably with a massive batwing rear spoiler, more like the 70/80s race car.
This car is probably better constructed now than when it was new, great video again as you work so feckin hard. I do wonder how far this is going, and does Matt have the funds😉
Secret plans 🤔. I'm going to take a guess and say rear and front wide arch kit. Along with new bumper. Giving it a mean muscle car look. Because that would look awesome.
That looked scarey to start with, but you are doing a great job there Ryan. I didn't know that the old bmws had irs 13:29 . Might start to like them just a tiny little bit😂.
I thought you were done when you finished the body but you had more fun waiting for you with the running gear, what a mess.
My guess, BMW must be going to a car museum.🐞
Really interesting as always.
I also like how you don't put music on the speech sections of your video; so I'm not struggling to hear what you're saying.
Every time I watch one of these videos I can’t help but think how badly MA got done over by the guy that sold him this apparent „dry stored“ car😂 what a project!
I reckon MA would want gull wing doors!
would love if M356 restoration do the mechanical restore. good job!
I just assumed you'd be doing the bodywork and farming the running gear work out or Mat would have done that himself... Good on y'all.
My guess would be a widebody kit of some kind. That would sure change the look.
Rollcage? must be a track day car... great work Ryan...
Well well
Really interested in the mechanical restoration. Will it get a turbo? Probably coilovers…
Styling wise it will probably get a wing en fender flares. Some people will hate it.
Armstrongs car all for free
WOW, looks like you are getting into more mechanic work now. Are you two going to rebuild engines and transmissions too... lol Another great video!
Ah the joys of the impact driver 😂
Big wide arch body kit.
Not sure what the plan is but would be great to follow the white powder coat theme throughout on all external running gear
amazing work, curious to know how much this restoration costs???
Getting wrapped
Air👍🏻
I reckon it needs to be slammed on bags with phat BBS 21INCH SPLIT RIMS ON,maybe a wide arch kit but not to ott, with summit insane under the bonnet like a v12 with twin turbos on,that engine bay is huge, the E24 is such a BEAUTIFUL shape and mat now has a solid blank canvas to create something pure bad ass, maybe get a set of conrods for that v8 ferrari lump he has!!! Imagine a ferrari v8 in this !! Would be one hell of a weapon!!!just a thought!!!!!!!I JUST HAVE TO ADD Ryan the work you have done to this is stunning mate your a very talented youngun EXCELLENT M8 WELL DONE love all your vids and channel ABSOLUTELY TOP DRAWER M8
@user-yg2vw8cc8c
21 inch is way to big. Most guys that drive slammed e24s have 17 inch wheels, 18 is already a stretch. And I hope He sticks with the original powerplant or at least something from bmw
@@dailydrivenclassics46 yeah I agree 21 s a tad ott !!! But I'm heavily into E30 s and seen every type of BMW engine used in swaps even seen a 2jz put in one,I just think he needs to go all out and make this a true one off that ferrari lump sings and would look and sound gorgeous in this 6,but whatever he does I'm sure it won't disappoint 😊
@@user-yg2vw8cc8c there has been no dct and no b58 swap afaik. But I'm sure he will put a stupidly loud exhaust on it that ruins the car...
@@dailydrivenclassics46B58 on a dct transmission would be cool i guess im not a big fan of direct injection engines though but the B58 would be an interesting swap tbf 😊
😂😂 this is going to be better than his mclaren 👍
Nice work lads, May i ask the thickness of the sheet metal you are using.
Convertible? this is a fun series to watch. I used to own an E24.
No, they built a roll cage for it. It's going to be converted to a track car from the look of things.
@@themarauder6108 Thanks, I completely forgot that part. Yep, I agree with your assessment.
@@JazzSaxUT It's going to look clean once it's done, shame Mat's going to ruin it. He wrapped his GT3 in a tacky vinyl instead of going for a full respray and his recent Mclaren video shows he has no taste and will bolt any old crap to it.
@@themarauder6108 that's sad. I had an '83 E24. Such an awesome car.
doing exactly this on my Z3...
My guess is put the roll cage in and itll be raced in a classic series.
I'm enjoying this restoration
I've got to say the rear end looked like it's been used as a boat anchor ⚓
Can't wait to see this car all come together
Am thinking, like the JPS liveried 635 CSi! wide body kit but MA liveried
I’d like to see Matt Armstrong make a visit to the YCR workshop and actually lend a hand with rebuilding the suspension with some trick new gear. Any chance ? 😊
As your always in headphones…. What are your go tunes while you work….?
Hate to burst the powder coating bubble- I used to powder coat material in NZ - don’t powder coat your suspension- never worked- sandblast and 2K paint- then it doesn’t fall off!!- plastic bruises and delaminates off the substrate!!
How much would this resto cost, the hours of work and skill you have put in is incredible
Way way more than its value complete..but it provides employment I guess
This is the stage i enjoy the most as not a fab guy
I think it will be a Hartge FIA touring car replica.
Think your hoing to widen the wheel arches
Gull Wing Doors
Thought you were done with the big box..
track day car with rollcage
My guess it's not a gift for Hannah... 😂
Roll Cage and some wheel big arches.....😳🤔🤔😀🇬🇧
Group 2 lookalike in JPS livery
Is it going to be Vinyl Wrapped?
Well Colin Furze's will be amphibious
Wide arch drifter
You’re turning it into a racing car. Role cage etc?
You need to work smart and get stuff up in the air, your knees won’t last forever. Fantastic work
it will be mats drift car?
3.0 csl bat wing replica by any chance? Keep on with the excellent work
love the pile of rust that fell off!
the livery from the m version the red and blue stripe ?
Given that it’s a Beamer, you won’t be needing to work on the indicators, they’ll be in as new condition, so that’s a plus…. 🤣 Could you be dropping the roof, sticking in a supercharged V8, and murdering it out?
BMW bikes are Beamers, the cars are Bimmers.
