In the office of TERA creators: Boss: "Okay, we need a class that looks cool and feels badass to play as." Lead design manager: "How about a fast-paced agility-based type of class?" Boss: "Perfect! What should we call it?" Lead quest writer: "How about 'ninja'?" Boss: "Yeah, sure. Sounds really cool!" *Random idiot steps into the room* Random idiot: "Hey guys, we should make it race and gender-locked!" Boss: "Oh, so obviously we're gonna have the class be the coolest race in the game then?" Random idiot: "What's the smallest and least threatning race called again?" Boss: "The elin?" Random idiot: "Yeah, make the badass ninja a female elin only." Boss: "Sure, why not. Oh, by the way guys, we need a new battleground aswell." Random idiot: "I've got an idea. Let's transform every player into a giant sumo-baby and set the battleground in a gigantic toy room." Boss: "Damn, you're on fire today. Best ideas we've had in a long time."
Hey guys I know a lot of you are getting kinda bored of just MMO videos on my channel which is why I'm currently working on a new Series which is much more versatile, fun to make and hopefully entertaining, there'll be a pilot episode soon :) Edit: When I say "New Series" what I mean is I've created a format in which I can cover up to 10 games in one video from ALL genres INCLUDING MMOs, There's not as much critique involved but the idea behind it will be entertainment and discovering new games, bare in mind I'm still gonna be doing my first impressions series for MMORPGs, I'm not stopping that, this is something completely separate. And please understand that when you cover games in a genre that's full of utter boring crap that you start to lose motivation and passion for making videos, this will be my way of dealing with that, I need to be able to play some games that I actually enjoy.
Peon You should try some Warframe there have been a lot of updates since your last video on it especially with the new player experience. P.s. play some Lunaro on it :3
I assume its more so to save money given how animations work in this game. Still, wish they didn't gender/race lock classes or gave at least a few more choices with both male and female choice.
Hey Peon, just wanted to say thanks. We started our channel less than 3 months ago and just hit 10k subs today... your channel was one of the inspirations for us making videos in the first place and it's been great so far. Really enjoy your stuff and can't wait to see what direction you go in next.
If someone wants to play TERA be sure to go to the US Servers (enmasse) its alot cheaper and you get a bit more options for free outfits etc. Gameforge (EU) realy is expensive
The high level dungeons are pretty hard. Harder than ANY mythic raid i did on world of warcraft, for exemple. MASSIVE one hit kill mechanics, big need of knowing fight to do the right thing. It's really fun, but really hard. You did "gear up" dungeons, they are designed to be easier, for beginners. You have complained about having to ride everywhere. Tera have thousands of teleporting options (scrolls, teleport from vanguard request and if you did the main quests you will win a 30 day Village Atlas that will teleport you everywhere. If you have Elite, you will have that too and a book that you can save previous locations to come back later). Honestly, i think you lacked some information or curiosity to explore those.
Idk about that dude. I've done a few mythic raids and each one was hard as balls. Way harder than any dungeons in Tera. If you've ever done a mythic raid and thought it was easy, it's probably because you either A) outgeared it or B) got carried.
OR i suck on Tera and find more difficult because of it (probably that's the case). Mythic raids are not that hard. When you learn the fight, they get pretty easy to do the mechanics. And yes, i'm overgeared, but only because i did the raid so many times. And YES, Forsaken Island hard mode is a pain in the ass! SCHM Hard mode scares the crap out of me! The only thing that adds difficulty on mythic raiding on WoW is some RNG mechanics. On Tera you have REAL ONE HIT KILL mechanics all the time. I'm not very skilled on Tera, have to be honest, but as much as i could tell, it's is more difficult indead. (sorry for any english mistakes, not primary language)
I like the combat system on TERA, I had tons of fun playing because of how many mini-bosses were available to kill without having to queue on dungeon, but the quests were just horrible to play. Sometimes they would be bugged, have ridiculous requirements that made no sense, or most of the time just a simple point A kill -> point B kill then rinse and repeat which was extremely tiring.
Indeed, you give decent overall information about MMO's and I have spent 3 years on Tera I had been playing it since its first release when it used to be P2P. This game changed alot and even if you get to lvl 65 and reahc END-GAME, you are probably gonna get bored of spamming the same instances daily......
As a player of the older tera from years ago, and a big fan of yours and your vids i gotta say this one hit the spot! :D Great video, pro review, and probably as honest as you can be about Tera :) Almost everything you said was done right in the past and was broken or went bad over the years and made the older players give up and quit! Thank you looking forward to your next videos!
The first late game dungeons you did suck... but srsly once you reach 397 the dungeons jump to next level and are really awesome and challenging. U can get one shot out of nowhere and there is barely second to dodge sometimes.
and how are you suppose to dodge stuff when u play dungeons with other players since it's so fucking shit optimized when playing with other players. like 30 fps in pvp battlegrounds and playing with other player
I know them feels with ff14. If you haven't already, I would recommend changing to another role from healer. (healing can be very fun in later content but leveling them SUCKS) would recommend choosing smn if you want to cast as they are pretty mobile and interesting to play. Otherwise teh other DPS classes are pretty fun too. I play blm personally but they are a turret class so not sure if that is your thing. (They kill things hilariously fast though XD) I know there are some prerequisite story quests to progress but aside from that I would say, just do a crap ton of dungeons. They are easily the fastest way to level but you can supplement them with leaves also. Honestly I would recommend getting heavensward if you REALLY wanna give ff14 a shot. The lvl 50 end game is still populated but you are going to more than likely run into groups running it all in "unsynced mode" which really dumbs down the experience. You can also duty finder that content but duty finder can lead to some hilariously bad parties. XD Hope this helps in some way. Sorry for the wall of text here btw. I just am really interested in what you have to say about end game FF14. lol
Awesome! Lovin' da content and been a subscriber for awhile now Would definitely like to see more FFXIV. Personally, I'm really enjoying the content and story line. Yeah, the process of getting there can be quite dull, but challenge logs, levequests kinda help. Best Exp u can get is probably from Dungeons around your level. Keep up the good work!
Leveling can be boring, but the story at times kept me quite interested and the end game content is a lot of fun. The grinding part for certain gear can take forever. Nothing like farming for a month or two just for a weapon. xD
Great job on finishing up this series. Still not gonna continue the "Journey to Series Cap" series? FYI. Wildstar is double XP this weekend. :) Thanks for the video!
From 2014-2016, I constantly played TERA, it was and always will be my favorite MMORPG and maybe even my favorite game, sadly I was permanently banned and ip-banned. I've regretted my actions ever since and I watch TERA videos to fantasize about what I could have done but won't ever get the chance to because of my premature behavior. For those of you who are able to play TERA, cherish these moments, this game is truly fantastic and I envy you all. I don't know why I decided to comment this, I was just feeling really upset today and I wanted to share this with others.
I've tried all of those options. My ip simply wouldn't change and it's dynamic too which is really peculiar. I even called my ISP and all they told me was that it's system generated and they have no power over it, they tried rebooting my router from their end and nothing happened. And I can't make a new account because im IP banned.
The Korean devs said that they would **never** make a male class in future releases. It honestly makes the game look more like a weeaboo porn simulator than the actual badass game that it used to be...
+TootToot They really said that, eh? Pathetic. I wouldn't have played that game so long if my girlfriend didn't like it. So monotonous. I find that amusing that they have what seems like a "fuck you" attitude about the whole thing. But if all the female shit sells, then I guess they know their audience. Well that's fine. I'll play final fantasy xiv where I can be any class I want... as a guy.
I stopped playing because: Popori are .... meh OK, but ELINS are super gay. Also you can't tell if elves are men/women. Boolsheyt like police car mounts (or the big cat head) destroy the game.
+Paweł Szatan Well for 1 Idk how ellin are gay and elves are not really supposed to look super manly and it is easy to tell the difference between male and female
yea idk how anyone can be entertained by questing. i play WoW and i dont have many characters. i want to play a new class at end game pvp and it's total horse shit that i need to do mindless lvling weather it be quests or dungeons for hours and hours so i can actually play how i want to play. PvE is just stupid imo too so that says a lot
Rhonn but i dont care about it. storyline is not what im into. i want to gear and battle ground idgaf about the rest lol and besides these lvls are getting so damn high it's kinda silly to have to lvl up to soon to be 110 just to do what i want to do in the game. pve is lame and easy af too. even if they made it more difficult i dont get any satisfaction from killing npc that just require the proper rotation (boorrringgg) and knowing the mechanic of the battle.
I just love the combat in Tera, there's not a single MMO coming close in my opinion. But all uninteresting world along with boring ass grinding for gear and "paedophile alert" Ellen race getting all the cool shit and a lot of other annoying shit like Stash slots costing a fortune and so on. I just can't be bothered any more. Also the absolutely insane imbalance in between good and poor gear just makes it feel like shit not having all the shiniest toys available. .
I played serveral classes in Tera and while the combat is quite awesome, Black Desert and Blade and Soul combat are much better in my opinion. I agree about everything else though ^^
I like blade & soul combat but I feel it's severely lacking when it comes to fighting more than 1 opponant. Concerning Black desert I just couldn't get into it since I knew there would be absolutly no way for me to keep up with the constant grind. Vindictus is next on my list of MMO's to try so we'll see if "The Creeper" is right.
you say not a single mmo can come close, yet you didnt get into the games like black desert which honestly does it better lol.. yea its a boring grind, but it does action combat even better >.>
grouping tera and black desert is wrong. tera more like monster hunter gameplay (except new class) while black desert more like dynasty warrior hack and slash. for long run i like tera more which is u need proper timing using skill which is i dnt mind doing repeatedly (again, for old class) while black desert just button smashing.
The reason why you didn't find Tera as fun as it is... is because like you said in your video that the classes that you like are the faster paced ones... i'd recommend Warrior, Sorcerer, Ninja, Reaper, Archer (Archers kinda bore me... but fast paced), Brawler, and the very new class for NA servers: Valkyrie... these are all dps classes... if you don't really like dps and more of a support/heal type... go for mystic which has a bit of dps while maintaining reasonable dps for a healer... if you want full heals with little dps... go for priest.
the gunner is one of the slowest in game... maybe even the slowest... in beginning and end (a bit faster end)... if you like classes that attack slow and end up being fast end game... i'd recommend slayer and lancer.
Well none envisioned a blond brat in an orange sweater as a badass ninja either and look where is he now xD Oooopen your miiiind, oooopen it. That aside I stoped playing tera at level 50 if I recall. Short note I started playing when it became f2p. Each zone was exactly the same with the rest only with a different skin. The quests where also the same as far as I can remember, or they where super generic. Point is I don't remember any of them. Dungeons where also the same, I even could notice gaps between the assets, they couldn't even place their assets together properly. I haven't notice any storyline, but I guess there should be one. Also there where no battlegrounds available while leveling, back then at least, so I had no escape from the absolute boring clusterfuck that this game was. The main city was super laggy for me, even tho I had a decent computer and 50 Mbps connection. I do remember fondly the healing tho. I had the most fun healing here than any other MMO. And I also remember a Halloween themed area. That's the only zone I remember at all. So overall there is a good reason it became f2p and as far as I can see it didn't improve in the slightest from back then.
I love TERA! I usually don't level normally LOL so that's probably why. I ALWAYS, ALWAYS just do dungeons after I hit level 20. While waiting for queues I do the main story quests (I have level 65s with level 30 or so quests still in their bank, and my level 52 has level 20 quests so LOL). If anyone is going to play this game for the first time, I'd suggest trying to level normally on your first character, but if you get bored just change to dungeon grinding. I always enjoy hitting level 65 and then changing to another character to level because all of the classes are very different in place style. I have two level 65s (Archer and Warrior) and I'm working my way to level 65 on my Slayer. I personally really enjoy this game but I also just like sitting in Lumbertown (a very low level area) and just talking to people as well.
Noobs get treated fine since technically it IS a noob town. It's in a level 15 area! Crescentia is also a noob town that people hang out in. Higher levels also often hang out in Velika, Allementhia, and Highwatch, but those are all busy and may cause lag. Thanks for asking! :)
Everyone playing the game hates playing the game. The only reason to play the game is because no one else has made an action MMORPG in so long. Hell, I'd still play Vindictus just for the combat if anyone still played that game.
Hell, YEAH! High-5!!! Someone who knows what true-action packed combat is. Tera's combat system is great, but Dragon Nest has the best combat system that no other game can replicate. Tera has auto-target skills with some non-auto aiming required. Dragon Nest only has 1 auto-target skill coming from the archer class, besides that it's all about pure manual aiming for every skill used in Dragon Nest to PVE or PVP. I don't blame Tera having auto-aim skills, because of how the game is designed to be super difficult to manually lock down on people. The only way to catch people without using an auto-aim skill as a warrior is by using Battle Cry or by making a super-hard read on your opponent's movement. Area of Effect or attack range for skills (AOE) make up for the lack of auto-aim in Dragon Nest to make catching opponents easier and much more possible.
Have you played "Shaiya" by Aeria games? I remember playing it years back and absolutely loved it and PvP was pretty awesome in the game. It's free to play as well. You should try it out! (Assuming you haven't played it already)
It's certainly not the same game as it used to be back in it's hey day's It's p2w and costs thousands of dollars just to get good gear to compete in pvp Aeria games and nexon sunk it to the ground by getting greedy and not caring about the game They also recently closed the korean version so only the US version is the last standing of shaiya It's a shame really... great game got into the wrong hands unfortunately I'll always have my memories of it thou had some good times
I played shaiya for so long(years), and i enjoyed the hell out of it. Especialy pvp (one the best, if not the pvp system i've seen). Ps: aeriagames was a shity publisher and it sill is.
I am always searching for an online game with action combat, varying classes and some PVP focus, so every once in a while I take another look at TERA thinking "Maybe I really could enjoy it" but I always drop it because of those cons you mentioned.
i've played TERA fairly extensively, so let me destruct Peons POV. 1. All of his advantageous points are on-par 2. Questing is repetitive, but you knock out so many quests by gathering quests in the same hub, making it very easy to complete many quests at once (and doesn't require flying at all) 3. It is really open world, the only 'loading screens' are when entering/exiting dungeons; through flight, you enter a portal and literally fly through it to get to the next location, which can't really classify as load screen because it's real-time, and you are able to travel through one side of world to another without any fast-travel besides to get between the two continents... and trust me, you don't want to travel manually... it's a looong way 4. The environments feel alive, he is referring to the NPCs that don't move as being 'static'; the mobs ofc move around in fairly random patterns and there are bugs/fireflies in jungley areas and moving trees/leaves/wind, etc 5. The PVE content is indeed very easy... you are meant to kill things above your level, NOT below that; if you are trying to kill 40 mobs, you should be level 35, if not below; for 55+, this range is decreased to about the same level, however; and the BAMs and dungeons are the things meant to kill if you want a challenge, so it appeals to both casual and competitive players 6. The environments are truly stunning; try visiting the heartwood forest: i.ytimg.com/vi/hVcJqzXB4_o/maxresdefault.jpg 7. The game is mostly for meant casual people (a few classes and costumes show that quite well)
Know what I miss and the series did NOT last very long Mr.LazyPeon... is the Iron man challenge on WoW.. I know it was heart breaking when you died and everything after all the time and effort you put into each character.. RIP IronPeon and IronPeoness. However, another series along the lines like that... I would /bow to you IRL if I ever seen you and I would totally wine and dine you. Either or bro, do what you want man! you are here to entertain us and you should play what you want :) I know you wont read this! but thought I'd just throw my 2 cents out there :)
Savage Resurrection is on Steam now! Its combination of RTS and FPS/TPS where commander and units are all players. This game is remake of original Savage: The Battle for Newerth from 2003. Currently in early access. This game is true hidden gem and it needs more exposure.
Not at all GW2 is very much alive. We have a new season of living story 3 coming in a week which is what we wait for now. The expansion is still full of players and so is the core game. Core game is now f2p with very minor restrictions. Try the f2p version out. If you like it consider buy HoT the expansion and be a part of the living story =)
Hey Peon, or Craig, whichever you prefer, what is your current favorite MMO or one you would highly recommend because i am in serious need of a good one. Thanks!
By the way, this game reuses monster and **boss** models all the fucking time. Out of the 3 current endgame dungeons, there is only 1 (out of 6+) bosses that is unique in both model and animations. When you walk into a boss run, and INSTANTLY recognize the boss from "that other dungeon," then that's just sad. Stop recoloring bosses, Tera.
I play Tera off and on as a Gunner; so, I didn't play it early on. I found your assessment to be pretty accurate, with the questing being completely repetitive and boring - almost entirely kill-x-number-of-enemy quests. The visuals are pretty decent, and the combat system is its saving grace, for the most part.
@TheLazyPeon , I can shed a bit of light on the gender/race locks for tera, the 1st thing is that this games engine and assets were stolen from the company making a new lineage game. They got sued and lost BADLY. Company was on the verge of bankruptcy when the beta servers launched in the east. What saved them was sadly (from our point of view) female character cosmetic purchases, In korea and when the game launched in japan. While that saved them it never dug them out of the hole that lawsuit placed the company in, it downsized(fired anyone that knew how to optimize) and refocused on what kept them afloat. Elin content has been the focus with some off shoots into the other females exclusively for the better part of the last 2 years. (Cept Amans the dragon people cause hooves don't gel with them I guess, they have a small foot fetish in that part of the world) It sucks as the game has some enormous engine problems that ruin the gameplay at times. In the end what they have chosen to do sucks, but I understand why they do it. They are serving the people giving them the most money and ignoring the displeasure from the west as we are minor money wise to them. It's a culture difference and a business decision. Hope that explains some of the issue for people here. Its just pandering.
For leveling up an alt quickly, see if you can find someone to give you a BuddyUp code - it gives both of you a bit of free stuff and one of the things it gives the new character is a 100% XP boost scroll that lasts 30 days. BuddyUp is free and the XP boost from it stacks with the Elite subscription (which you can buy 30/90 days passes for on the exchange for a few thousand gold). Just a thought, provided you want to try other classes.
its so fun wanting to play an mmorpg but then entering a video to see how is it and then seeing the end of it and spoiling the whole story then no wanting to play the game
Thank you for the review, this helped me decide to try it or not. The cons are really annoying though, after hearing the race and class restrictions, that just ticked me off but still willing to try. Thank you and I hope you do well :)
Just a heads up from an old Tera player that has reached end-game: The game is 100% pay-to-win. The best end-game gears are crafted through purchasable items that players can get through grinding dungeons and sell for in-game currency. Players who don't have the gold to purchase these dropped dungeon items would then purchase special currency called EMP that they can use to buy cosmetics and loot crates with. With these items from the EMP store, they can then sell them for gold to players who want them. There are also purchasable enchanting materials in the EMP store, that would otherwise drop from grinding dungeons, that can be bought and used to enhance gear. Pro tip: If you've got money to spare and enjoy playing Tera, don't waste your time grinding dungeons, since that's no fun at all. Go learn your class from a veteran player and spend $500 for the best gears and attempt the hardest dungeons in the game with the friends you pick up during your jouney in Tera (This is where the real fun begins). After that, the only thing you have left to do that is fun is to PvP while you wait for the next incoming big patch with new dungeons and gears (The combat system makes PvP so much fun. However, if you live far away from Chicago, where the Tera servers are located, then poor latency will be your nemesis until you get google fiber). P.S. I take no responsibility if your mom yells at you for using her credit card to buy EMP.
Yeah, Gunner gets tank armor and a healer pet...kinda makes it bland. Pretty much easy mode, I suppose. I struggled a lot, especially near end-game content with other classes, so if you wanted a challenge, have at it. Ninja and reaper have really fluid combat, and are super dodge-reliant, so if you got over the fact that you had to be a cute animal person, I think you'd enjoy it. x3 Super happy that you finished leveling though, thanks for the video! ^-^ Also, another thing is that leveling isn't bad, at all. I understand you did quests, (and I'm also glad you did, I enjoyed watching it) and you've heard this a thousand times before, but I can get a full maxed character from level 1 in 3 days, and probably less if you run dungeons and got a 100% exp boost (which are usually fairly cheap in the auction, at least on the NA servers) Also reapers start at 50 and end tutorial at 58, so that's practically a "character boost" for free, you jump into the game and get most of the skills instantly.
Although warframe is the most succesfull f2pmmo out there, it doesnt really have levels or questing. the whole game consists of grinding and getting new weapons/warframes. sure there are a few story missions but except the second dream questline, they wont give you much to watch it would'nt make a good youtube series i think. more of a game he would enjoy playing in his free time.
There's nothing to check warframe...played since close beta...something that doesn't change is...fucking grinding since lv1! Same map same map again and again!
I very much enjoyed your "Is it worth playing?"-Series. It helped me avoid some bad MMOs after I got tired of SWTOR. And I must say I love hearing you rant. P.S. Nice haircut ;-)
If he did, he'd mock the game for it's Pay2Win features lmao. Personally, i love Elsword, and i've been playing it for 3-4 years. Elsword NA is garbage, the xp rate is really bad, and the questing is really repetitive. Especially when you get into the Hamel region, you have to do Water Temple Shrine 12 times, in order to complete the quest. Economy on that game is complete garbage. And overall, to top this up, you're basically spending money on a Game which pays no attention to the community whatsoever. KOG doesn't even respond to the complaints, they just keep fucking up constantly for 3 years now. They ruined my favourite game fml.
i agree the quests are sooo long and all but when u reach lvl 65 the game starts, its all about the dungeons. When u gear up the dungeons become harder and harder by each gear and if you are just a noob who reached lvl 65 by leaching you wont like the game xD you have to know how your char/class works and use it in gameplay, dont say that the game sucks just cuz u dunno how to play it :) thats all! :)
Back in the days where queen hm was actually a thing, this dungeon and grinding for visionmaker gear with a static core was actually a lot fun and rewarding too.
Just so for those who are looking to play this game, the dungeons might be easy on low levels but when you reach end game, the dungeons get harder according to the difficulty(numbers of stars) especially dungeons you see with red stars are dungeons that requires a lot of learning, dodging or you will call it i-frame as well which makes you feel like you are fighting a really "smarter" boss compared to all the easy boss in low level dungeons.
Lol its kinda hard to take your recommendations seriously. Esp since you think WoW is the best MMO made lol.(Which is complete fking bullshit its an MmO for casual nubs who cant PvP lol its for easy mode players) But yeah I jus watch the vids to see if the games worth it, with my own discretion.
well, good news, or maybe sad for long time players, lvling up isn't so hard at all as you imagine, because the developers nerfed the difficulty to oblivion, so new player will have no trouble in level up. Literally, if you only do dungeon, you can get from lvl 1- max cap in, well, 7 -8 hours ?
Amnezis Rooster you have 2 ways of entering dungeon: the traditional way of finding party members, then go to the specific dungeon and play, or you can use the Instance Matching which will group you up with a party of random people from across all servers in Tera. 2 things to know before going in dungeon: you have to be at least lvl 20 to play your first dungeon, and all dungeon has lvl span limit ( lowest lvl dungeon allow you to run from lvl 20 - 24).
hey peon(ik u probaly wont see this),I love the content,u have become my favourite utuber, and just want to say I hope u wont quit utube anytime soon..thanks for making me smile everyday(srry for.being cringy)
seeing you play Gunner like that ends me... sure you were able to clear "endgame" dungeons (tbh channelworks and abcsess are the easiest thing at 65..) but I doubt you even did any decent damage. You just got completly carried through it all. There's so much you don't know about the game, even if you level it all to 65 that this shouldn't even count as a proper review *sigh*
My experience in the past day of this game: Started with a friend. We got to the first quest and then I had to go in the middle of it. The tree boss would no longer appear even though I could advance to the next town, but the game wouldn't let me progress any more, meaning I had to make a new character. Friend leaves me behind to play with other friends. I try to catch up as fast as possible, which wasn't hard because the combat is so easy. It's just hold left-click and occasionally right-click to block an attack. Not a timed block. You can just hold it the whole time if you want to. The character also moved extremely slow, even on the dragon/horse the game gives you, which aren't even that good of improvements. I get to the first major boss and just couldn't handle how boring the gameplay really was. The only time I died was when I tried to take on like 20-30 enemies at once, which quickly drained my HP. TL;DR the combat is boring, the movement speed is terrible & the story is awful
After 7 years of RUclips, this is my first dislike ever. " I suppose you could consider this a review since I have seen a lot of what the game has to offer with the exception of the high end game dungeons." Peon you really cannot do reviews like this. You've always defended yourself saying "they're not reviews, they're first impressions" and you were 100% right. But this time you gave an opinion on a game after playing 1 thing of everything, not diving AT ALL into the game. I've always respected you and thought you videos were of a great quality, but this one is just completely wrong and shouldn't be there. This is not a hater dislike, this is a fan dislike. I study Game Design in university and I've been strictly playing MMOs for 13 years, as a fan of a dying genre (MMORPGs) I don't like when wildly popular youtuber just post this kind of videos for an audience that will most likely follow what the youtuber is saying. Tera is a great game, I'm sad you don't see the potential and you don't try to understand the deep mechanics of this game. However, that's your opinion. What made me dislike it is that you posted about it talking as if you know what you're saying after trying couple things in the game. I know you understand MMOs and know that it's not a full review, I know that. I think you're a smart person, but your audience is not necessarily. Not necessarily everybody will understand that they should give it a shot and your opinion doesn't really matter because .. you've just tried one thing of the game. So yeah, I'm disappointed Peon.
Having leveled 12 chars before i quit before ninja i can only agree with everything you said. The easy dungeons were not always that way though before artifact weapons and plentiful feedstock to enchant before you hit endgame enchantment grinding.
Hey, i'm quite new to your channel and don't know if anyone already mentioned this but you look a lot like Stephen Amell (aka Oliver Queen as Green Arrow from the Arrow series) and love your videos btw keep it up.
During my year long break from WoW between the end of MoP and the release of WoD, Tera was one of the competitor MMO's that I tried out, alongside SWTOR and GW2. The graphics aren't bad, but I found this game to be dull as dishwater. The questing experience was about as bland and generic as you could get for an MMO. I made it to around level 40 and ended up quitting before I died of boredom.
Would you consider doing a guild wars 2: Heart of thorns is it worth playing? You get a max level boost when you buy the expansion, so you don't need to worry about grinding up to max. You also get a decent set of armor and weapons.
this is easily my favorite mmorpg. I've put pretty close to 1500 hours into it and the reason I eventually quit was even in the peak of my play time no matter how hard I tried to get the newest top tier gear it seemed like every time I got close and blew all my gold on upgrading another tier came out and the free gear from the first dungeon was better.
If you do a really fast/easy questline on the Island of Dawn you get dreadnaught gear for free! +12 that and you can queue for DFNM and gear slaughter gear. And don't be afraid to join LFGs, it's usually much faster (and less trap) than queueing. The only fast queues right now are healer/tank queues. Also priest/gunner/ninja main here, ninja is pretty fun and very fast. And spam arcana barrage on gunner! It wrecks everything. And any time you're about to die use Recall, it's one of the longest I-frames in the entire game and it's great. And yeah, the questing in Tera is uh... not great. Definitely all about the dungeons/PvP. I'd say run DFNM and SSNM and see what you think of those mechanics. But yeah, I understand where you are coming from. It doesn't really get fun until level 65, and even then there are a lot of things about Tera that aren't too great. Thanks for trying it out though! o/
The difficulty in dungeons raise really fast in the end game. You can basically face roll before ilvl 431, but starting from ilvl 439 everything gets suddenly 10 times harder. I see this guide was made 3 years ago and maybe they didn't exist by then.
I'm lvl 55 and I got so bored of the quests, I barely did any I just dungeon grind. I doubt i'll be returning to it but i'm sure you'll really enjoy ff14 because of the end game content and the world feels so alive, a really good thing about ff14 is that you can make as many classes you want without having to do the main story line over and over again as you keep the same character
This games definitely not p2w, I spent $800 on it and I still sucked...
Eat a salad and ... GIT GUD!
mfw I'm 3 week old but my ranking in fwc is ranked 9
So you are 3 weeks old and can already write!?
Damn, I'm impressed
+The Annoying Salad thanks
In the office of TERA creators:
Boss: "Okay, we need a class that looks cool and feels badass to play as."
Lead design manager: "How about a fast-paced agility-based type of class?"
Boss: "Perfect! What should we call it?"
Lead quest writer: "How about 'ninja'?"
Boss: "Yeah, sure. Sounds really cool!"
*Random idiot steps into the room*
Random idiot: "Hey guys, we should make it race and gender-locked!"
Boss: "Oh, so obviously we're gonna have the class be the coolest race in the game then?"
Random idiot: "What's the smallest and least threatning race called again?"
Boss: "The elin?"
Random idiot: "Yeah, make the badass ninja a female elin only."
Boss: "Sure, why not. Oh, by the way guys, we need a new battleground aswell."
Random idiot: "I've got an idea. Let's transform every player into a giant sumo-baby and set the battleground in a gigantic toy room."
Boss: "Damn, you're on fire today. Best ideas we've had in a long time."
This could well be an "The Office" episode lmao
BunnyLovesHam lmao xD
Let’s be real that sumo baby playground is kinda fun
Kumas makes me want to oft myself
well the game is dead, the very few people still playing it pay directly into gameforges "minimum effort, maximum profit" ideology
Hey guys I know a lot of you are getting kinda bored of just MMO videos on my channel which is why I'm currently working on a new Series which is much more versatile, fun to make and hopefully entertaining, there'll be a pilot episode soon :)
Edit: When I say "New Series" what I mean is I've created a format in which I can cover up to 10 games in one video from ALL genres INCLUDING MMOs, There's not as much critique involved but the idea behind it will be entertainment and discovering new games, bare in mind I'm still gonna be doing my first impressions series for MMORPGs, I'm not stopping that, this is something completely separate.
And please understand that when you cover games in a genre that's full of utter boring crap that you start to lose motivation and passion for making videos, this will be my way of dealing with that, I need to be able to play some games that I actually enjoy.
Cool
+Overwatch Tracer Guides where are the tracer guides?
When will u play SWTOR again??
And here I hoped you'd play GW2... :3
Peon You should try some Warframe there have been a lot of updates since your last video on it especially with the new player experience.
P.s. play some Lunaro on it :3
Ugh, I hate the gender/class locks in Tera
Indeed.
+Mr420Spy It's not lol. It's because they prefer to play female character. (I lived in KR for 7 years)
yeah, is really stupid the gender loks in a mmorpg. Stupid.
I assume its more so to save money given how animations work in this game. Still, wish they didn't gender/race lock classes or gave at least a few more choices with both male and female choice.
nah, it's just because people like tits
Hey Peon, just wanted to say thanks. We started our channel less than 3 months ago and just hit 10k subs today... your channel was one of the inspirations for us making videos in the first place and it's been great so far. Really enjoy your stuff and can't wait to see what direction you go in next.
If someone wants to play TERA be sure to go to the US Servers (enmasse) its alot cheaper and you get a bit more options for free outfits etc. Gameforge (EU) realy is expensive
#germaninflation
Can i make end game gear easily or is it still really hard to make ?
It's a pity cause the combat in tera is really fun specially if you are melee but it does get sword for boring and feels like soft core porn at times.
If you've ever done a mythic raid and thought it was easy, it's probably because you either A) outgeared it or B) got carried.
and they are adding Mythic+ in legion (for dungeons at least) which will scale up to a fuck ton harder than Mythic raids.
Yeah, I agree. man, fuck forsaken island hard mode
SCHM..we do not talk about this..xDD
Thank you for revisiting this series and giving Tera the kind of appreciation it deserves!
I know you probably wont see this, but i just wanna let you know you're my favourite youtuber
Glad you enjoy the content dude :)
Indeed, you give decent overall information about MMO's and I have spent 3 years on Tera I had been playing it since its first release when it used to be P2P. This game changed alot and even if you get to lvl 65 and reahc END-GAME, you are probably gonna get bored of spamming the same instances daily......
LOL you should play hard high level dungeon before saying PVE is easy...
In the past in one of your videos you said you want to play bad games, try APB Reloaded, its a cancer of a game.
As a player of the older tera from years ago, and a big fan of yours and your vids i gotta say this one hit the spot! :D Great video, pro review, and probably as honest as you can be about Tera :)
Almost everything you said was done right in the past and was broken or went bad over the years and made the older players give up and quit! Thank you looking forward to your next videos!
The first late game dungeons you did suck... but srsly once you reach 397 the dungeons jump to next level and are really awesome and challenging. U can get one shot out of nowhere and there is barely second to dodge sometimes.
Solo heal warrior tank legacy dos classes SSHM amirite.
and how are you suppose to dodge stuff when u play dungeons with other players since it's so fucking shit optimized when playing with other players. like 30 fps in pvp battlegrounds and playing with other player
yup the game is shit and its not fun with the shitty optimization tera has
The game is still super rng to get masterwork gear!! I wanted the kill myself getting that!
So besides the absolute latest dungeons, it is crap. (this is not a question).
As an MMO gamer, i just fucking love this "is it worth playing", dont stop ma man!
Hey Peon, any plans to revisit ffxiv?
currently leveling up to 50 first, I'm doing this when I have time, It's so long and boring getting there though >.
(They kill things hilariously fast though XD)
I know there are some prerequisite story quests to progress but aside from that I would say, just do a crap ton of dungeons.
XD
Hope this helps in some way.
Sorry for the wall of text here btw. I just am really interested in what you have to say about end game FF14. lol
Awesome! Lovin' da content and been a subscriber for awhile now
Would definitely like to see more FFXIV. Personally, I'm really enjoying the content and story line.
Yeah, the process of getting there can be quite dull, but challenge logs, levequests kinda help.
Best Exp u can get is probably from Dungeons around your level.
Keep up the good work!
Peon,FFxiv will be better when you get higher lvl.Combat on low lvl's feels slow
Leveling can be boring, but the story at times kept me quite interested and the end game content is a lot of fun. The grinding part for certain gear can take forever. Nothing like farming for a month or two just for a weapon. xD
@TheLazyPeon your "i would rather" comments are hilarious, cracks me up everytime.
Great job on finishing up this series. Still not gonna continue the "Journey to Series Cap" series?
FYI. Wildstar is double XP this weekend. :)
Thanks for the video!
okay i can't be the only one that would love 1 video with you playing guitar. cause that queue bit already sounded amazing!
How did you get banned, if you don't mind me asking
Unoriginality reset your modem
outer ? to get a new ip? and make a new account? or change your ip manually? theres a lot of options to go back
I've tried all of those options. My ip simply wouldn't change and it's dynamic too which is really peculiar. I even called my ISP and all they told me was that it's system generated and they have no power over it, they tried rebooting my router from their end and nothing happened. And I can't make a new account because im IP banned.
Unoriginality That sucks im sorry, I hope you have learned from this experience.
Yeah, sadly I can never show En Masse that I've reformed because they would give me the chance to.
This video had me rolling in laughter. The gender lock bullshit is the reason I stopped playing, you nailed it on the head. So stupid
I'll play final fantasy xiv where I can be any class I want... as a guy.
I stopped playing because:
Popori are .... meh OK, but ELINS are super gay.
Also you can't tell if elves are men/women.
Boolsheyt like police car mounts (or the big cat head) destroy the game.
+Paweł Szatan Well for 1 Idk how ellin are gay and elves are not really supposed to look super manly and it is easy to tell the difference between male and female
for me i could not care less what my character looks like, i just enjoy the gameplay.
questing is shit by definition in any mmo, at least in Tera you enjoy the combat system while doing it.
yea idk how anyone can be entertained by questing. i play WoW and i dont have many characters. i want to play a new class at end game pvp and it's total horse shit that i need to do mindless lvling weather it be quests or dungeons for hours and hours so i can actually play how i want to play. PvE is just stupid imo too so that says a lot
then play on a fun server ... ?
+abdou AI Black desert online my friend
+TrapBum Just read the quest text, so you will know the story behind the quests and it will be less mindless and more fun.
This is honestly the most sincere experience of first time playing tera. Yes leveling sucks, but the end game I think it is worth it! great video
FULL story gameplay on SWTOR pls.
I've been asking the same question for AGES
YES
BEST IDEA EVER but only as a jedi or sith the other classes are kinda boring
You sir have clearly never played an Imperial Agent.
i disagree i really enjoyed trooper and bounty hunter.
One of the funniest vids you've made lately. Very strong this one!
Also the absolutely insane imbalance in between good and poor gear just makes it feel like shit not having all the shiniest toys available. .
Vindictus has better combat.
Vindictus is next on my list of MMO's to try so we'll see if "The Creeper" is right.
you say not a single mmo can come close, yet you didnt get into the games like black desert which honestly does it better lol.. yea its a boring grind, but it does action combat even better >.>
grouping tera and black desert is wrong. tera more like monster hunter gameplay (except new class) while black desert more like dynasty warrior hack and slash. for long run i like tera more which is u need proper timing using skill which is i dnt mind doing repeatedly (again, for old class) while black desert just button smashing.
it's one of those things you've gotta do in bits, and thanks to people like you (mad props) I got a bunch of free good MMOs so just switch it up a bit
The irrational Spider fear always makes me chuckle. Thanks for subjecting yourself to all these games!
Well none envisioned a blond brat in an orange sweater as a badass ninja either and look where is he now xD
Oooopen your miiiind, oooopen it.
No, it is not, no need to watch the video, i've already watched you raging about how boring the game is in the journey to level cap.
lol XD HAHAHAHA
Everyone playing the game hates playing the game. The only reason to play the game is because no one else has made an action MMORPG in so long.
Hell, I'd still play Vindictus just for the combat if anyone still played that game.
+Mungkorn88 for me personaly Dragon Nest had amazing action combat , but thats just my opinion
+Mungkorn88 wildstar and blade and soul
Hell, YEAH!
I think every nightmare I've ever had came true in this one video.
"No don't jump"
*obviously not thinking she will jump*...
She jumps: "Ohh.. Oh, you what?" lol
haha yeah I didn't think she'd actually do it :')
I love the new channel banner, peon!
Have you played "Shaiya" by Aeria games? I remember playing it years back and absolutely loved it and PvP was pretty awesome in the game. It's free to play as well. You should try it out! (Assuming you haven't played it already)
It's certainly not the same game as it used to be back in it's hey day's
It's p2w and costs thousands of dollars just to get good gear to compete in pvp
Aeria games and nexon sunk it to the ground by getting greedy and not caring about the game
They also recently closed the korean version so only the US version is the last standing of shaiya
It's a shame really... great game got into the wrong hands unfortunately I'll always have my memories of it thou had some good times
0:20 you obviously haven't tried doing mourning's end part 2 on runescape mate.
i've played TERA fairly extensively, so let me destruct Peons POV.
1. All of his advantageous points are on-par
2. Questing is repetitive, but you knock out so many quests by gathering quests in the same hub, making it very easy to complete many quests at once (and doesn't require flying at all)
3. It is really open world, the only 'loading screens' are when entering/exiting dungeons; through flight, you enter a portal and literally fly through it to get to the next location, which can't really classify as load screen because it's real-time, and you are able to travel through one side of world to another without any fast-travel besides to get between the two continents... and trust me, you don't want to travel manually... it's a looong way
4. The environments feel alive, he is referring to the NPCs that don't move as being 'static'; the mobs ofc move around in fairly random patterns and there are bugs/fireflies in jungley areas and moving trees/leaves/wind, etc
5. The PVE content is indeed very easy... you are meant to kill things above your level, NOT below that; if you are trying to kill 40 mobs, you should be level 35, if not below; for 55+, this range is decreased to about the same level, however; and the BAMs and dungeons are the things meant to kill if you want a challenge, so it appeals to both casual and competitive players
6. The environments are truly stunning; try visiting the heartwood forest: i.ytimg.com/vi/hVcJqzXB4_o/maxresdefault.jpg
Either or bro, do what you want man! you are here to entertain us and you should play what you want :) I know you wont read this! but thought I'd just throw my 2 cents out there :)
lol ur cringy af
+fizz how the fuck is he cringy?
Agreed dude.. How the fuck am I cringy? hahah!
It is a "south park" quote... if you've ever seen SP. Clearly a joke.
Dustin Campbell your profile and profile picture...
Are you logging on wow for patch 7.0 just to check out your class on the 19th/20th depending on where you live?
Last time I played Tera I was so bored I just want to my kitchen and rubbed peanut butter on my face and just let my dog lick it off.
Savage Resurrection is on Steam now! Its combination of RTS and FPS/TPS where commander and units are all players. This game is remake of original Savage: The Battle for Newerth from 2003. Currently in early access. This game is true hidden gem and it needs more exposure.
That starfish is TERA-fying
Badumtssss
2 years late but here goes...
_An excellent joke_
Loving the vids! your commentary is irreplaceable
They class locked the ellens again> werent they the only ones that could be reapers?
Dissapointed..
Please do a video on Rohan Blood Feud. So underrated! Best community I have ever played in.
You got lucky, theres some toxic people there.
Still waiting for GW2 levelcap :/
yes please
You're aware he isn't going to do another levelcap?
is GW2 dead?? I havent played it but loved GW1 PvP. Also I would just be PvPing so is it worth it? How much is it I thought it went f2p or some shit
+Vito 757 x GhoSt x it went free to lvl 20 or something
Hey Peon, or Craig, whichever you prefer, what is your current favorite MMO or one you would highly recommend because i am in serious need of a good one. Thanks!
By the way, this game reuses monster and **boss** models all the fucking time. Out of the 3 current endgame dungeons, there is only 1 (out of 6+) bosses that is unique in both model and animations.
When you walk into a boss run, and INSTANTLY recognize the boss from "that other dungeon," then that's just sad. Stop recoloring bosses, Tera.
Wait, there's a unique boss in Tera? Where?
Dakuryon
wallabror Nope, that same model, textures, and attack animations are used in the 2nd boss of Shadow Sanguinary dungeon
They do release new dungeons overtime but u cant come up with constant new bosses, if ur gonna put 3 bosses in a dungeon, 1 reskin is ok
Thanks for the insight dude :)
13:44 oh hey its rengar
I really like 'TheLazyPeon'. Thanks for being you, mate
idk....the sumo baby battleground might draw me back to TERA....
aye thank you for atleast fininshing to lvl cap im glad u picked it back up and completed it. :)
Plz Revisit Warframe Next Plz
Although warframe is the most succesfull f2pmmo out there, it doesnt really have levels or questing. the whole game consists of grinding and getting new weapons/warframes. sure there are a few story missions but except the second dream questline, they wont give you much to watch
it would'nt make a good youtube series i think. more of a game he would enjoy playing in his free time.
Warframe is shit.
Exde statistically speaking, its not
Well War Within will be story driven like second dream and there are other quests that give lore and some rewards
Do think you can do a first impression on Elsword
Which is why i stick to Elsword Void (Aka the private server). Even tho it's fucking boring as heck.
+xXTremeRevolutionXx I love Elsword but I have no respect for so a use hacks to get past all the boring as Shit parts and farm ed and that about it
Lol spot on review! And after watching several of your videos and laughing my ass off I subscribed.
Tera is the best action mom out there, but they recycle every mob over and over..
The game world in Tera is the most breathtaking one I have ever seen!
i agree the quests are sooo long and all but when u reach lvl 65 the game starts, its all about the dungeons. When u gear up the dungeons become harder and harder by each gear and if you are just a noob who reached lvl 65 by leaching you wont like the game xD you have to know how your char/class works and use it in gameplay, dont say that the game sucks just cuz u dunno how to play it :) thats all! :)
Wolfie ThaGamer may be late but I just wanted to say fuck you
from a mmo gamer that tries every mmo under the sun... that was some pretty funny shit man. subbed
Tried the game several times, shit performance and technical issues made me ragequit every time.
The gender lock classes though, and dev's said that they won't make any more male classes lmao, this game is SHIT
Back in the days where queen hm was actually a thing, this dungeon and grinding for visionmaker gear with a static core was actually a lot fun and rewarding too.
Wait.....questing in tera? people actually do that post lvl 20? o_o
When have I ever said "WoW is the best MMO?" I haven't played the fucking game for almost a year
Fail trol has failed
sounds like someone couldn't raid for shit aye?
Chill guys check out his name he probably vapes.
+alex diaz your sooooooo funny...... 😐
really worried about downloading the game from steam's comments. Should i be cautious about this Xigncode they talk about?
You spelt "Character" wrong on that last screen, by the way. :)
RIP, I need to check if my editing software has a spell check addon >.
Bruv, does it really matter?
Yup.
MrSaxon Yes* the irony.
You “spelt” spelled wrong
8:16 Never underestimate the power of the Elin Ninja. She's cute and deadly.
Is it hard to level up in Tera? If is it harder than WoW i wont play it.
Higher levels it's WAY harder
well, good news, or maybe sad for long time players, lvling up isn't so hard at all as you imagine, because the developers nerfed the difficulty to oblivion, so new player will have no trouble in level up. Literally, if you only do dungeon, you can get from lvl 1- max cap in, well, 7 -8 hours ?
van lao
And how to enter these dungeos is there dungeon finder like in wow or what?
Amnezis Rooster you have 2 ways of entering dungeon: the traditional way of finding party members, then go to the specific dungeon and play, or you can use the Instance Matching which will group you up with a party of random people from across all servers in Tera. 2 things to know before going in dungeon: you have to be at least lvl 20 to play your first dungeon, and all dungeon has lvl span limit ( lowest lvl dungeon allow you to run from lvl 20 - 24).
van lao
Thanks then ill try this game. Lets see how far i will go! :D
hey peon(ik u probaly wont see this),I love the content,u have become my favourite utuber, and just want to say I hope u wont quit utube anytime soon..thanks for making me smile everyday(srry for.being cringy)
seeing you play Gunner like that ends me... sure you were able to clear "endgame" dungeons (tbh channelworks and abcsess are the easiest thing at 65..) but I doubt you even did any decent damage. You just got completly carried through it all.
There's so much you don't know about the game, even if you level it all to 65 that this shouldn't even count as a proper review *sigh*
really enjoy your vids peon, your very talented.
Easy??? Well of course you played with the easiest class... haha
My experience in the past day of this game:
Started with a friend.
TL;DR the combat is boring, the movement speed is terrible & the story is awful
why do guys use Female avatars?
goodday, just like you I am also looking for a new MMORPG to play. WoW lost me. what MMORPG do you recommend and also play?
Peon i love your videos, please keep making more
Oh and also I love how you literally showed my static Team from anonymous ahahah. Mishiko, Judica :D
Peon what're your thoughts on Mabinogi?
I played that game years ago and enjoyed it quite a bit.
Thanks for trying it out though! o/
What server you were playing on ? EU from Gameforge or NA from Enmasse ?
I really like the jorney to lvl cap I watch it like a story gameplay and even terra was enjoyable plz continue
