I do believe there are some characters u shouldn’t change up too much like Shura & some others u can. I believe Drakken is one of those u characters u can change. I genuinely don’t think Drakken was as evil as most people seem to think. He only killed shiki because he was stubborn. How do u top killing a mc as a villain? To me it’s a pointless having him in the story as a villain for the 3rd time. cause what stakes is there gonna be? No way is he gonna be able to beat shiki like before. so even if he was a villain in this universe I don’t think he’d be as hype as everyone would expect. he does point his gun at shiki & talks about necessary evil so He’s not all that different. Also I don’t believe 1 chapter is enough to come to a conclusion like this anyways but I hear why some people just don’t like it.
The thing with shura is that shura is that shura emotional end is foreshadowed by the princess, also shura is not arguing for forgiveness. Shura remains a villain but he is realized everything he wanted was right there but he ignored it and acted out Shura had the same story arc as la us except darker, shura was looking for love but he just like darken lost his way When it comes to darken a lot of people don’t get that this the original locations of the characters, U0 is basically a flashback of what happened, whatever happened here created U1 and the sub sequential universes Mashima likes to do this type of flashbacks because he gets the information relayed to the characters and the audience at the sane time People always misunderstand this plot line every time Mashima uses it As the same thing happened whe used it in Firy tail grand magic games arc
In my view eden zero started corney but had a straight out plot but i wanna say that hiro mashima is trying on making eden zero good but what i wanted to see in eden zero is that shiki having a goal to make a 100 friends is okeyish but i wanted him to mature with his comerads and see the reality to himself that people have hearts and can stab you in your back when its convenient to them and realize that a goal to have multiple friends is naïve and can cost his life in which he needs to move on and change his point of view and stop asking random people to be his friends thus making eden zero good or great
What I dislike about hiromashima is his addiction to the word frienship, you can make a character likeable without them being buddy buddy with the mc. and wasn't the point of shura in the first place was that not everyone can be your friend.
I think it makes perfect sense for Drakken to be less EVIL in universe 0. The simple choice he made to use animals instead of Humans in his life extracting process, makes it clear that he has more empathy than the previous universe selfs. That choice also led him to commit less crimes what led to him not falling as deep into the darkness, as the other ones.
Drakken is basically the same character who has just made different choices this time around. I really love how Mashima is exploring the infinite possibilities through this time jumping.
My view is that u can't ruin or redeem a character when they are in a different world/universe but u can choose which version u like or dislike. All we have to do is wait on how Mashima gonna use DJ(if he ever return) and Shura. For now, DJ is still himself without the taking human life and obsession for cat leaper/power part. Interesting direction but not the worst direction. He would still shoot Shiki on the spot in that chapter until he got curious about Shiki words. That show he still himself because he took interest in something . When he not interest on anything or anybody , he kill them. Shiki play his card right. If Shiki didn’t have the knowledge , his dead like his U1 self.
I don't mind the change towards Drakken Joe I mean it's a different universe. They said it in previous chapters that universe 0 can be the same but a little different at the same time. That one change, that one difference can change a overall person.
With Shura I do think the little bits we see of his childhood with Ziggy at least showed us he wasn’t born a sociopath. That ending note for him when Nero blew up felt like a small glimpse of whatever humanity remained. It was awkward but I figured it was just to humanize him. But now that we are in universe 0, if anything that was the build up for now. We know Shura did ask to be friends with Shiki and he isn’t completely horrible, so adding him as a friend is more realistic. If Shura had gone out like Muller it would be unthinkable. Additionally I have to wonder what is different about Universe 0 that even Nero cares about his son and sees him in need of redemption. Short version: I’m agreement with you that Mashima knows what he’s doing. Side note: something else to mention about Drakken Joe in this universe is he used the life force of animals rather than people. Maybe Shura in a similar vein doesn’t treat people and machines as objects?
I personally liked Drakken Joe better in universe 1 and 2 because he was ruthless and intimidating and that was made him a great villain. Also I preferred that the villains in Edens Zero were irredeemable because that made some of them better especially Drakken Joe. I was also hoping to see a more experienced Shiki have a rematch with Drakken but that is not the case which disappoints me. Now I’m hoping Shura is still a monster and his character and defeat is handled better in this arc
I mean the two versions have had different lives and experiences and are therefore two separate characters at this point. The comparison some people are making doesn’t make any sense.
I think there's a catch to this villain redemption thing. Like, the story have been too good to be true for shiki and co. Since universe zero is world of possibilities, the possibility of things turn to the worst is still there.
@@ShonenOuji yeah most definitely. Especially how mashima want to bring him back because he is disgusting character. So if he returns he will be definitely more evil than ever before.
I like what Mashima did with Nero as well. I don't think he has quite the development as Shura and Drakken do, but I recall him saying that it doesn't matter if the citizens and soldiers die as long as he was victorious in the end. Here Universe 0 Nero, teaches Shiki different form of Overdrive to stop Shura who apparently is a tyrant, a role shared by his father in other Universes. I know that Nero is not as popular as the other two, but it did give off this impression that he wasn't as corrupted(?) as his counterpart.
I still like Drakken Joe no matter what he may be, Yes he was one of the coolest villains, But him having the "Anti-Hero" role could be interesting since i picture Drakken kinda like Shadow the Hedgehog, Mewtwo, Greed, And some of the Anti-Hero characters. Now as for the rest of villains, Well i've seen the leaks with the whole Kurenai stuff which i won't say anything about it, So yeah It's likely that they will all be the not so bad guys that the fans know and love, I mean you have Drakken who is the better villain than Shura and if he is sort of treated lightly, Then what chances that Shura can be still worst or more menacing than Drakken since unlike in other Universes who he wanted the whole Aoi Cosmos, Well he got everything he wants.
I gotta be honest, this is one of the worst anime/manga arcs to ever touch my eye. There’s no tension and it’s taking away key elements that made the characters and story work in the first place. Drakken is just the cherry on top. I honestly think Edens Zero has been going way down hill since the Kaede war arc.
Thank you. Seriously. Everyone are Mashima fanboys that gobble up everything. The reboot basically destroyed every character journey they built up. Imagine if Naruto just went back in time to save Jiraiya. Saved itachi. Made everything p e r f e c t. What was even the point of the series.
@@DarkEclipse23 FR. We had a whole 3 year timeskip and so many well built up story beats, and it all gets undone. Not entirely undone but for the most part undone. All these villains becoming good guys just isn’t working either. That universe reboot, the twist about Ziggy being a controlled Shiki, and the anti climactic reunion with Rebecca and her parents was the nail in the coffin and made me drop the series. I’m loving Dead Rock a lot though and I hope it sells well.
Sometimes it's better to just have your pure evil villian who simply gets a joy out of causing pain to others. I mean yeah there can be villains who do have a moral code but if you build them up to have no redeeming qualities, stick the landing. A series that does villians well is Dr. Stone, you had the morel gray villian in Tsukasa, you had the pure evil with Ibara and then you had the ones that while insane and evil had redeeming qualities to them with Xeno and Stanley and also we had Whyman who was a villian who was based on the logical side of their actions and couldn't understand anything they didn't understand.
Great examples. And while pure evil villains are great, it’s important that they also be human. That they have flaws and conflicting qualities. The original Drakken Joe had this. This new one is still a bit confusing to me in that sense.
@@ShonenOuji Some pure evil villains want to not only torture people for fun, but also to take over the world. And there's a reason why they have so many henchmen working for them.
I am so bloody sick of stories that forced redemptions on villains who didn't bloody earn it. Mashima has a bad habit of "redeeming" his villain. Just look at half the villains from Fairy Tail.
I don't mind since this Universe is meant to be a more idealized one. At the end of the day these are still different characters from the ones we met before.
What are your thoughts on the new Drakken Joe? Should he redeem the new Shura?

I just hope that shura still remains as a psychopathic villain that this series needs in U0
It is also worth noting that he is still a "space mafia" and that he tricked Homura into paying a non-existent debt XD
