Hello!
Lets dive in to music theory!
The Modes of the Major scale - it might sound hard and abstract but it is not that hard, once your ears grabs the sound, system and formula for each mode. In this video I go through the seven different modes writing sheet music at the same time, including harmonica tabs; Welcome to sit down with a diatonic or chromatic harmonica in C and check out this 50 minutes theory lesson.

Thanks for watching this video! How many of you like this long video format? And do you like the realtime handwritten sheet music and explanations? Welcome to share your takeaways from watching this video.
Typo 1: on the formula for the Dorian scale = the 7 should be a b7. This is when I present it in the beginning, when I write numbers above the note names. In the end I write it correct. 1 2 b3 4 5 6 b7.
Typo 2: Lydian tablature for diatonic - the note G should of course be a -2 or 3, not -2'.
Hello Filip, thank you for the video. Very clear and very helpfull. Especcially the connection from Theory to the harmonica directly and not a piano layout. I Liked the format and hope for more. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your Time. Hans
Thanks. Yes, I want harmonica players to get information via sheet music and tabs not via a piano layout or just tabs.
Clear as clean water! many thanks Filip for your generosity!
Thanks! 🎵😀🎵
Very well explained. I like the format , help to keep away the trolls. If you could do another video explaining where (or how) to use them in a music, it'll be very good. Thank you.
Beautifully explained and you are a great teacher! Thank you,
Thanks for watching!
You've helped to demystify modes in a systematic way with diagrams and demonstration. Thank you so much Filip. Looking forward to your follow up video 😊
Great to hear! Happy to help! New video online now!
Can't be too long, thanx for your Engagement, great Job done😎👍
Thank you!
Excellent video. Clear music theory, thanks a lot for the "real time" improvisation on diatonic and cromatico harmonica!
Thanks for watching! Yes, I had great time improvising and writing out the sheet music at the same time.
I suggest Forust to produce custom, 3D-printed wood combs at volume. Submit your own designs for printing using the Forust process.
👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you very much Filip. Very well and understandably explained, written down and played diatonically as well as chromatically. Bravo
Thanks for watching! 🎵🎵🎵
you are a good teacher , thanks you for your time, Now I am waiting the next video :D
You are welcome!
Filip, I really enjoyed this video. I liked the format. I watched it once to watch and listen, then watched it another time to take notes. That works for me. I'm trying to process how to use this. Can I use the arpeggio of the Locrian mode when I want to play over a B chord? Is that how it works? Anyway, I'm getting closer to understanding with each passing effort. Thanks for all the time you put into this.
Thanks for your kind words! More to come.
B locrian works on a B chord if the chord is a m7b5. Locrian is linked to the m7b5 chord.
If it was a B major triad, the locrian would sound off, simple major scale would sound better.
If it is a B7 chord, the mixolydian scale sounds good.
If it is a Bm7 chord, the B dorian or B aeolian sounds fine.
So next step is to link and match every scale to a specific chord type.
very very helpful vid. Thank you Filip. wonderful explanation !
Thanks for watching! 🎵🎵🎵
I liked the format a lot and the real time hand written stuff. It sems to make it easier to understand when you are explaining what you are writing, as you are writing. I couldn't play along so I will do that later and that may explain some off the flats and sharps in the tabs. It din't seem like a long video as you kept interesting, also thanks for explaining diatonic positions they have confused me for ages, now I understand. Thank you !
Hi Richard,
thanks! happy to hear your feedback. Yes, using position thinking is good for diatonic players!
Hej! I liked it a lot, thanks man. I love your work! I’d love to hear some harmonica playing examples on when to choose 3rd poz. dorian or 4th poz. aeolian - i play on diatonic, and 10 out of 9 times I play 3rd poz on minor songs- but i want to improve. ❤ tack så mycket
Grazie molto chiaro sei stato molto bravo
Grazie Mille!
great!!!
🎶🙏🎶
Sir help me to find the good harmonica please iam from sri lanka
Lidian: second grade is g (notes as 2' on diatonic!)
Whooops typo - thanks. The tabs should be a -2 or 3 , it should sound like a concert G.
Kanonbra!
Tackar!
