    Found your channel from watching a Down2Mob video. We like to camp and do some light off roading. Christine draws house plans and likes tiny houses. Doing some catch up on your videos and container house build.

    Hey there do you have any condensation issues around the windows in the winter. I like the looks of the tubing like you used better but have bin told the tube being hallow will condensate they Suggest using angle iron any insight would be great thanks

    Did you have any difficulty cutting a precise hole for the window frames without causing a gap too large to make welding difficult?

    1. What’s the dimensions & thickness of the steel tube used to get the ridges to be flush with it insides and outside.
    2. Did you fully weld it around the frame on the outside?

    • @AmbitionStrikes
      @AmbitionStrikes  4 года назад +3

      Hi Gabe!
      1. We used 2x3" 0.60 box tubing. It is not flush with the inside and outside. If it were flush the radius on the tubing would create a large gap and making welding difficult/ugly.
      2. Yes we fully welded the perimeter and caulked it from the inside. We didn't want to rely on a caulk joint for weatherproofing.

    • @AmbitionStrikes
      @AmbitionStrikes  4 года назад

      We’ve been pretty happy with it, especially for the price. Just pressure test with water before using for the first time as they are notorious for arriving with loose fittings!

    • @AmbitionStrikes

    Nice. Came from tiktok. Did your rent most of this equipment or did you buy it? Curious as to what would be the most cost effective.

    • @AmbitionStrikes
      @AmbitionStrikes  4 года назад +1

      We own a metal fabrication business so we already owned the tools required. A welder is definitely a big ticket item but I think it is a good investment if you ever plan to do other projects like this!

  • @brenden9758

    I guess it works but arn't all the windows and doors installed backwords? the nailing flanges and brick molds are on the inside.

    • @AmbitionStrikes
      @AmbitionStrikes  4 года назад

      Yes they are installed backwards from a traditional construction standpoint! We wanted the exterior of the container to look very clean and by doing it this way we did not have to install trim over the flanges.

  • @mikebennett938
    @mikebennett938 4 года назад

    Hi, if you don't mind me asking what size steel did you use for the window framing?

  • @charlesdbruce
    @charlesdbruce 4 года назад

    I would have thought the flanges for the windows/etc. would be on the outside of the container...? Hmmm... 😮

    • @AmbitionStrikes
      @AmbitionStrikes  4 года назад +1

      We wanted a very minimalistic look and by having the flanges on the inside we didn't have to add additional trim (typically done out of wood).

      Kelvin Doo We used less than 10 cutoff wheels total, but are very skilled with a grinder and can make them last a very long time!
