I remember building this, and a few other 1/16 funny cars and a dragster or two I believe back in the seventies as a teen. My 1st car was a 1972 Vega GT hatchback. And I got ti see Jungle Jim run a few times at Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey back then.
Very cool Keith this is also my favourite funny car from that era. The wheels and attention given to the zoomies make this model come alive. FOREVER JUNGLE JIM!!
@@hotrodmodeler4649 No I don’t but I wish I did, I used to go to New England dragway all the time in the early 70s And remember getting jim Lieberman’s autograph on the hood of the car! love your choice of those old magnesium Halibran type rims rather than the stock centerline good choice!
Very nice. Well done. I am building the same model now. Just getting started. I recently purchased some model kits from an older gentleman. This one was one of them. He said they have been setting in his closet for decades.
@@hotrodmodeler4649 unfortunately no- but those were some of my favorite builds! I remember having to save up to buy em too, they weren't cheap even back then! If I remember right most of the 1/16th funny car mods were from Revell! I loved the detail and the motors I could squeeze into my 1/25th scale monster truck model's! Oh to be back in my youth, the mid to late 70's through the mid 80's was a great time for model's! I even took my H.O. scale model train light's and used them in both my 1/25th and 1/16th scale model's! Took a prize in an English class for an essay and a display if a 1/16th scale 57 Chevy in 7th grade that I jazzed up with light's, big tires from the 1/16 scale trike model's in back with a motor from one of the Funny car model's sticking out all over😁! I would take gun turrents from my plane mods and stick em all over my 1/25th scale cars n truck's n make my own apocalypse vehicle's back then, they were crude but funny to look at! I remember making my first functioning low rider model using springs from a ball point pen and cylinders from 1/25th scale construction and farm models! I used cable's from an industrial printer to push n pull my spring's to make it hop! Nowadays I just piddle around with model's and collect old kits!
Jim Liberman handed me a 1/16 Vega at the Summer Nationals in Epping!! They had switched to the Monza and I mentioned that it didnt seem to like the bump at all, where the Vega rode over it. And he laughed and said You should feel it in the seat! And handed me the kit You did a fantastic job on her!
I got the Green Elephant. It is an old mold and requires a ton of seam and flash work, but is coming along really nicely. Also the tires are really crap, not gluing those on, hopefully I can find som accurate wrinkles
Can you show me how you lowered the rear axle? I’ve got 5 of the old Revell funny cars, and have seen them done before. I didn’t like the way they sit. I’m considering lowering them, and would like to see how you did it. BTW, Awesome job! Yours looks great!
Same here, I'd like to see that. I'm lowering a Gene Snow. I raised up the rear end mount about 1/4". Now I would have to lower the magneto because that's touching the body. I also had to cut the hole for the underbody pan larger all the way around about 1/2" as that hits the tin around the chassis.
Correctly done Revell had the best drag cars to build in 1/16 scale lots of part to detail I built many myself .I think its very well done .is that dust on the glass
Oh man cool. Where did you get those rims. I have one of those kits it's complete minus the decals. You probably told us but I'm watching in a no noise area so I have the volume turned down all the way. On my kit I did gold leaf on the side air dams where yours are black.
I'm a new subscriber to your channel. I've seen 2 blogs so far and your builds are extremely nice, detailed and really accurate. I'd like to see more builds and keep up the good work. By the way, those rims on the front of Jungles funny car are Halibrands

Awesome! I think you'll enjoy it. It builds up pretty well from what I can remember. I built it 20 years ago! Enjoy.
Love the driver figure.
Thanks Michael! I couldn't pass it up.
I used to see this car at my local Drag-Strip. Maple Grove Dragway in Reading, PA. Beautiful model!!

Just cracked into the Atlantis reissue. Your build gives me some inspiration. Looks damn good.
Thanks man! I'm due to build another. Glad I could be a source of inspiration for your build.🤙

Looks like an Aurora kit from back in the day looks great man great work
Thanks Brian! Its actually an old Revell issue.
Very nice work! The driver really makes it pop. Would love to do this kit one day
Thanks! Ya, would be cool to make a long smokey burnout with some cotton. 😎
You should! Atlantis is coming out with the green elephant and Jungle Jim.
Amazing job on the funny.......
You should build a starting line burnout or garage diorama for that sweet build ✌😎
Thank you for sharing 👍
Would be very cool to do something like that. Thanks!
I’m 60 I just started building again. I’m building the Hawaiian Funny Car 1:16 scale.

I always wonted this kit . I see Atlantis is reissuing this kit and a 1/25 scale Jungle Jim Camaro funnycar also.
No way. That's awesome! I might have to scoop up one of each.
Where do you find the driver figurine?
