I recently restored my Aurora 1/16 Vega funny car that I originally built when the model was new in the '70's. I was fortunate enough to locate a mint unused original decal sheet and went to work!
Wow what a great video, only complaint is that it wasn't long enough, lol. I been building funnys since a kid and always tried to get them to sit low like a real funny,he nailed the stance and the deep tucked rear slicks!
This brings me back to the seventies when I was building models. I had a bunch of them. The Hawaiian, Chitown Hustler, Jungle Jim, Revolution and a couple more I don't remember. Might of had a couple of top fuel dragster too. Also spent a lot of time at Raceway Park in Englishtown during the mid to late seventies and watched the real ones run.
Absolutely awesome. You can do so much greater detail work with 1/16 scale than you can do with 1/24 or 1/25 scale. It is great that 1/16 scale modelers have new pallets to work with. Thanks for sharing.
That was a good video! I’m currently in the middle of building a 1/16 scale Grand Am funny car, that I purchased from EBay. I’ve got 5 more, 3 stock cars, and 3 Dukes of Hazzard cars, all in 1/16 scale. It’s hard trying to find detailed parts for them, so I’m glad to hear that they’re starting to make more!
I want to thank Doug and his crew for putting together "Whats so funny about 1:16 Scale ?" as well as introducing me to his channel. The video is a flawless job and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed meeting you and the crew. I have to apologize as I have only been building since 2007 and have only completed a handful of models or so. I have only been showing models since 2016 and am not the most experienced at it but am learning more and more, as well as meeting many people and modelers. It was a pleasure working and explaining to you and the crew about my funny car models, and then to see them come to life here in the video you put together was just floor boarding. I can't say enough and am lost for words. Thank you again. I really enjoyed seeing the Revell Revellution model kit as well as the Aurora super scale kit, and Tony Nancy kit, you incorporated into the video. Very creative job putting the video together, thanks for sharing it, Thanks Again, Bruce Morris.
Thank you for sharing with us! It was a fun video to do. I'm sure the community appreciates your insight into the history of 1:16 kits. Looking forward to seeing more of your awesome builds!
Wow, great video. Thank you for talking to Mr. Morris for us. I enjoyed your videos very much. I have a few 1/16 scale to build but holding off for later when the eyes get worse. LOL Thanks again.
This was amazing, Bruce is one of my favorites builders around, Bruce inspire me to start working on a 1/16 dragster, only have the chassis painted but will continue with that project, awesome interview and congrats to Bruce
Absolutely stunning, the level of detail and added detail is truly awesome, now with the availability of 3D printed parts has just kicked things up a whole lot of notches! I remember seeing the 1:16 Scale Vega Funny Car and the Dragsters in print, but don't recall seeing any of them on the shelves of the local hobby shops. Once again, the 1/25 Scale model competes and wins the valuable shelf-space in the hobby shops.
This is just an AWESOME video! I need to watch this video every morning when I get up to charger me up!!! And finish my Tony Nancy loner rail 16th!!!! Thank you so much for this video!
I have a bunch of the Aurora kits engine kits chassis kids driver figures and complete funny cars all still wrapped in plastic also all of the 1/16 scale Revell funny cars and top fuels originals from the '70s all still in plastic I got them from my father who collected them back in the '70s he is now 82 years old and gave them to me thinking they're worth nothing
May I add being the fact that your dad collected them and, and is now 82, and gave them to you is worth more than the collection or value of the models as you can not put a price on that.
Great video! As a kid I built a few 1/16 scale model cars and still have a couple (57' Corvette, 1934 Rolls Royce cabriolet, AMT 55' Chevy convert). About 20 years ago I found several Aurora Racing Scenes unbuilt kits at a swap meet and grabbed them up. Among them was the 417 Donovan motor, drivers set, mechanics set, funny car chassis set, and the Vega body set. The detail on these was amazing- especially the hemi engine! Unfortunately they were a victim of my divorce about 12 years ago. Besides my childhood built models that I still own, I did pick up a Minicraft 1/16 scale 1931 Ford Model A kit a couple years ago that is waiting its turn. I love 1/16 scale too! Thanks again for the great video!
@@brucemorris5369 your very welcome Bruce and ive built the revell 1/16 jungle Jim vega and I loved it and I have a couple more 1/16 scale funny cars still to build, but there not as nice as yours Bruce!
Awesome to see these beautiful kits done so well. I have picked up as many 1:16 scale kits as I can find and have started kitbashing street machine/hotrod stuff. Shapeways is a 3D printer offering a ton of parts.
Would love to learn more about getting the bodies to sit down proper. I have a method of raising the rear ends but the stance is still not correct with the body lowered. Bruce's subjects are perfect however.
I do not have a channel but can be found on facebook and am the administrator of a group called Dedicated to the preservation of building 1/16 Drag Racing models. If you would like to become a member there are a couple of questions to answer so I know you are not spam. But if you mention you saw the video here or my post I will know you are not spam thank you Bruce Morris.
When I was a young man in the late 70’s in the UK I built almost all of the afore mentioned models I also had the dragsters unmade in boxes I absolutely loved painting & detailing them thanks for taking the time to film & edit & upload
These are AWESOME, the Yellow Jungle Jim, Vette, WOW!!! AM LOOKING FOR 1/16TH DECALS For MICKEY Thompsons U.S. Marines Grand AM, have originals but they don't look like they're usable!!
You sure don't see many 1/16 scale drag racing kits anymore. In fact any drag racing kits are few and far between in this day and age. Sure hope some model kit company would make modern day funny car & dragsters especially john force racing.
Technically no they have the re issued chassis under a couple of them from the late 80s Revell Hot Rod Series and scratch built chassis as well and resin bodies. But originally they were from the 70s.
Cool. I love building 16th Scale cars and trucks. Thanks for sharing.
A beautiful job he does on those cars 👍👍
Thank you that was so cool the detail work was Top Shelf ,never did a 1/16 but boy do these Look OUTSTANDING thanks for sharing
Thank you Deen Joan
Great price Doug! Thanks for putting this one together for us!!

I have the Don Prudhomme Army Vega and Dragster 1/16 combo kit
Always loved the big scale kits. I have a bunch of them. Rails, funnys, and semis.
Would have loved Wild Willie Borsch's winged AA/FA in the big scale.
Outstanding as usual 😝🇺🇸😎
My FAVORITE YOU TUBE channel! 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Phenomenal Funny Car models!! Love this era and the Vega looks so cool, especially with all the work to get the body to sit right!!😎👍👍
YES old style funny cars-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing builds! Watching this video inspired me in to getting a 1/16 Green Elephant kit, never built a big scale model kit before!
Wow what a great video, only complaint is that it wasn't long enough, lol. I been building funnys since a kid and always tried to get them to sit low like a real funny,he nailed the stance and the deep tucked rear slicks!
Great to see my friend Bruce, giving the interview about his great 1/16 models, hope that we can get more of them in the future
This hobby, like drag racing itself, is severely aging.

Lovely work! Those Revell 1:16 models were super, especially the AA/FD. The funny cars gave you much more bodywork to deal with, and these are superb.
Really enjoyed..... 👍👍
Awesome builds!!! Thanks for sharing
Beautiful funny car builds!!

Wish there was more of an offering on 1/16
I have 3 of the AMT Nascar Kits #43 #28 and #7
Those are some very cool funny cars!

Seems to me that 1:16 Scale is easy to work in because it is easily divisible to the inch.
This fellow is quite knowledgeable too!!
Thank you Tom's Models and Die Casts.
Does Bruce have a channel? Or are there any 1/16 scale builders with channels?
Bruce post his progress and finals pictures on Facebook, he also have a page just for 1/16 scale modelers if you want to check those

Try the Facebook Group "Dedicated to the Preservation of Building 1/16 Drag Racing Models", someone there may be able to help with your decals.
That kit is fixing drop a repop in a few weeks.
I need a set of decals for my Navy Duster. I built it in 1976. The original decals have mostly fallen off but the rest of the kit is intact. Help.
Just about to start the body for the Elephant. Tons of flash and terrible chrome, but entirely correctable
Do larger scale Snake & Mongoose models exist that can be bought? I'm only seeing the Green Vega.
The Green Vega is in production and is available now. Other Funny cars in 1:16 have been out of production for a while now.
Yes
Nice.
Thank you .
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I rather have 16 scale
