What a blessing to watch all these years after they are gone, only singing in the heavenly realm. My dear departed Italian mother-in-law loved this opera, and now...my husband's and mine. How I miss the sweet lady and all she gave me. Her precious son, her constant love and patience with this Southern Girl, and the culture clash. I learned much, and our cultures were very much alike, and I only wish I could see her again. Too bad I could never see these two do this as in 1976 we were only 18. We "discovered" this very soon. Thank you for the wonderful gift of this film
Indeed it wasn't Pavarotti's best first act. I've had a recording of this performance for years; I never dreamed a video would be in existence. Thanks! Caballe is easily the star here though. Her beautiful pianissimi come through on this recording very well. Pavarotti's voice sounds pure and ringing, but he's obviously tired. He'd sung Der Rosenkavalier (admittedly only the Italian Singer role) but was in the midst of the I Puritani run which was very difficult for him.
All I can say is "Wow!" - about the singing, and about the fact that this video exists and that we can so effortlessly watch it online. Thanks for sharing and thanks for recording it in the first place!
That was the first try at getting a video camera into 'that place'. I was shaking-the camera was huge- but I got some gems and at least I'm sharing them with 'everyone'. Man oh man, lemme tell you, 'It wasn't easy'.
The King and The Queen of Opera together

I am in paradise when I listen to those two angels👼👼👼
Thank you so much for posting this - it's a privilege to see it. Very generous of you.
The clarity of Pavarotti matched by Caballes voce superbia
Fantastic!!!

Thank you❤
IF this "wasn't Pav's best" - I just wonder who, among the current crop of wannabes, in hell could do it better these days?!?!?!?!?
I must agree with you! This was another outstanding Pavarotti night! Such a voice we probably will never hear again in our lifetime!
Giuseppe Di Stefano
Non in my humble Opinion
None. Pavarotti was a once in a century kind of voice.
Just wonderful! Thank you for posting.
The power of Pav was clearly evident this nite. His voice was like a wild stallion difficult to control due to its unwieldily power.
why oh why wasn't this filmed and released!
Qualcuno mi potrebbe dire gentilmente in quale teatro siamo? Una cosa è certa: che si fermano le sfere e gli angeli...
